The Public is once again reminded that all Entries and Air
Freight Declarations presented to the Customs Department, must
be accompanied by a general invoice and such invoice shall be
certified as true and correct and signed by some responsible
member or employee of the Shipping Firm. Photostatic copies
of invoices will not be accepted.
The Importer must also have in his or her possession, a
packing list which will be demanded at the Docks, Air Freight
and Parcel Post Offices whenever it is desired to make an exam-
ination of a shipment. Examinations for value and contents of
packages will be done on a larger scale in future.

Board of Education Scholarship Scheme
The Board of Education has proposed to Government the
establishment of a scholarship scheme to train Bahamians for
the specialist posts now needed by the schools.
Because of the early date (January, 1961) by which applica-
tions must be made for places in educational institutions in the
United Kingdom, it is necessary for the Board to complete its
provisional selection of candidates for these scholarships by De-
cember, 1960, in advance of Government's approval of the
scheme.
Applications are therefore invited for the scholarships listed
below. All applications, supported by the necessary certificates
and testimonials, should be addressed to the Director of Educa-
tion, P.O. Box 213, Nassau, to arrive not later than 31st October,
1960.
All candidates must note that any selection made at this stage
is provisional only, and that the final award of any scholarship
depends on Governments approval of the scheme.
(a) Two scholarships for B.A. (General), including English.
(b) Two scholarships for B.Sc. (General), including Mathe-
matics and or Science.
Qualifications required:- University and Faculty en-
trance requirements (2 passes at Advanced Level and 3
at Ordinary Level of G.C.E. in appropriate subjects).
(c) 3 Courses for Teachers of Commercial Subjects.
Qualifications required:- 5 passes at Ordinary Level
G.C.E. or equivalent; qualifications in Commercial Sub-
jects.
(d) 3 Courses for Diploma in Physical Education.
