In accordance with Section 31 sub-section 3 of The Road
Traffic Act 1968 an Inspection of all Public Service Vehicles will
be held as follows at the Inspection Grounds of The Road
Traffic Department at Fort Charlotte commencing at 9:00 a.m.
each day:-
Monday, 3rd Oct., 1960 through Saturday, 15th October,
1960 All Self-drive Cars and Self-drive scooters.
Monday 17th Oct., 1960 through Monday, 31st October,
1960 All Taxi-cabs, Tour Cars, Livery Cars and Buses.
Operators of Public Service Vehicles should ensure in their
own interests that their vehicles conform to the requirements of
the law.
The opportunity will be taken to allot a registered number
to each Public Service Vehicle. A set of registration plates will
be issued bearing this number and will remain on the vehicle
until such time as it is scrapped or leaves the Colony. These
plates must be affixed to the vehicle in addition to the
public service vehicle plates, and the registration book brought
along for noting.
There will be sufficient taximeters available in New Provi-
dence for every taxi-cab, and a certificate of inspection will not
be issued to any taxi-cab which fails to have a taximeter fitted
and in proper working order (Vide Section 69 (2) of the Road
Traffic Act 1958) when inspected.

London School of Economics Entrance Procedure
1. The last date for the receipt of applications at the school
for students residing overseas will be 30th November, 1960. It
is again stressed that it is most important that applications should
be received as early as possible before this date and that reason-
able time should be allowed for postal transmission.
2. The school will consider applications and will then se-
lect, at their discretion, those applicants who will be required
to sit for an entrance examination which will be held on 29th
Mhtch; 1961.
3. Students should submit their applications through the
Director of Education through whose office further information
may be obtained.

ROAD TRAFFIC AUTHORITY
The Road Traffic Authority at their Public Sitting held in
Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 27th September, 1960, gave no-
tice that they intended to maintain the status quo regarding the
maximum number of Taxi-cab licences and Self-drive licences to
remain as follows:-

500 Self-drive Car Licences
75 Self-drive Scooters.
The application for an omnibus licence by Rev. A. S. Cole-
brook was granted subject to the Controller of Road Traffic
agreeing to the routes and types of vehicles to be used.

IMPORTATION FOR SOME TEMPORARY PURPOSE
UNDER PARAGRAPH 5 OF THE 4th SCHEDULE
TO THE TARIFF ACT.
1. To avoid inconvenience and the possibility of paying full
duty on equipment and other articles imported for some tem-
porqry purpose under Paragraph 5 of the Fourth Schedule to The
Tariff Act, the following requirements, which will be rigidly
enforced, are published for your information:-
a. Application should be made to the Governor-in-Council
thr gh this department stating full particulars, thq pur-
pose of which imported, a complete list of equipment
with values and if obtainable locally.
b. Applicant must await decision of the Governor-in-
Coeicil before importing equipment or articles.
c. If approval be given Applicant must enter into a bond
as required by the Pyagraph quoted.
