THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT
(Chapter 254)
WHEREAS it appears to His Excellency the Governor in
Council that the land described in the Schedule hereto is required
for a public purpose:
NOW THEREFORE it is hereby notified that it is the in-
tention of His Excellency the Governor in Council to acquire the
said land for a public purpose to wit: for the purpose of con-
structing a warehouse and dock at Simms, Long Island:
All persons interested in the said land shall within 30 days
of the publication of this notice state in writing to the Colonial
Secretary of the Colony the nature of their respective interests in
the said land and the amount and particulars of their claim to
compensation for such interests.

Applications are invited for vacancies for Male Clerks in the
Post Office Department.
The minimum education and qualification required is the
Local Leaving Certificate but preference will be given to holders
of higher qualifications. Salary in the range of 450-670 p.a.
(390-440 if under 20 years of age).

mission in the House of Myers, Bay Street and Victoria Avenue
and when returned should be accompanied by three recent tes-
timonials from responsible persons.

CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD
FRESH CREEK DISTRICT, NORTHERN ANDROS
Tenders are invited from Bona-fide Contractors for construc-
tion of road from Fresh Creek in a northerly direction towards
Blanket Sound. The total amount-available for this road work
being 10,000-0-0..
Contractors shall submit their Tenders based on lineal foot
measurement.
Specification forms can be obtained at the office of the Pub-
lic Works Department during normal working hours.
Completed Tenders should be forwarded in sealed envelopes
endorsed "Construction of Road, Fresh Creek District," so as to
reach the Director of Public Works by noon on Saturday the
20th February 1960.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Public Board
of Works for New Providence by section 35 of the Water and
Sewerage Act Chapter 10 the following Rules are with the ap-
proval of the Governor in Council hereby made:-
Short Title
1. These Rules may be cited as the Sewerage Rules, 1960.
UNITS
Classification of House Fixtures
2. House fixtures shall be classified in units as follows:-
1. Bath Tub, with or without shower 2 units.
2. Shower Bath 2 units.
3. Water Closet 2 units
4. Lavatory 1 unit.
5. Urinal 1 unit.
6. Bidet 1 unit.
7. Slop Sink 1 unit.
8. Kitchen Sink 1 unit.
9. Laundry Sink 1 unit.
RATES
Sewerage Rate per Unit
3. The sewerage rate in respect of any unit shall be two
shillings per unit per quarter:
Provided that:
(1) In the case of hotels and boarding houses the rate shall
be eight pence per unit per month or any part thereof;
(2) the rate for a hotel or boarding house rated under (1)
shall be not less than Ten Pounds per annum;
(3) no rate shall be charged or paid in respect of any hotel
or boarding house when such hotel or boarding house is closed
for twelve consecutive months;
(4) other premises which are unoccupied for six consecutive
months or more shall pay one-half the appropriate rate while
they remain so unoccupied.
Commencement
4. These Rules shall be deemed to have come into opera-
tion on the 1st day of January, 1960.

Your attention is drawn to Customs Regulations regarding
goods upon which duty has been paid exported from the Colony
for repairs or exchange. All such articles must be checked and
registered prior to shipment and failure to comply with these
regulations will render the owner liable for duty on the total
value of the article upon reimportation.
2. Importers are again reminded that claims for shortages
cannot be honoured if goods were not examined before delivery
from Customs.
