12th December, 1959.
With reference to the notice issued by me on the 5th Decem-

ceived by Parcel Post, in order to avoid any misunderstanding the
following explanation is now given of the procedure that has been
arranged for the convenience of merchants:-
(a) Twenty-four hours before delivery merchants should
deposit certified invoices and notices issued by the De-
partment relative to the parcels with the clerk designat-
ed at the Parcel Post for handling parcels addressed to
merchants. It is not necessary for merchants to get in
the queue or wait after deposit of above mentioned docu-
ments.
(b) The clerk will assess the amount of Duty and Emergency
Tax to be collected and arrangements will be made for
the parcels to be ready for immediate delivery on the
following day.
(c) The same clerk will issue parcels the following day and
merchants will not be required to take their place in the
queue but will proceed to the clerk with whom their
documents were deposited prior to the day of collection.
2. I should point out that any merchant who wishes to take
his place in the ordinary queue and wait until Customs Duties
