CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
NASSAU
A vacancy exists in the Public Works Department for the
Post of Public Gardner. This work is the supervision of the
Department's Nursery, Cemeteries, Public Parks, and scavenging
all Public Beaches. Salary will be in Scale 5.
Applications will close at 12 noon on the 12th June, 1959.

mission, in the House of Myers, Bay Street and Victoria Avenue,

RECRUITS WANTED
THE BAHAMAS PRISON SERVICE
Applications are invited from those who wish to enlist as
Overseers in the Bahamas Prison Service.
This branch of the Public Service is one where men of good
character and education can perform a most important and use-
ful service in the interest of the Bahamas as a whole, with the
security of a pension after 21 years service.

Minimum requirements are:-
British subject by birth.
Age-21 to 30 years.
Education Not less than Grade VI Standard.
Height-5' 9" in bare feet.
Chest Not less than 36 inches (expanded).
PAY
General Duty Overseers ................ 494x30 624 p.a.
Normal working hours approximately 100 per fortnight.
Overseers shall be appointed for 3 years and may re-engage
for further successive periods of 3 years. During the first 6
months an Overseer shall be on probation.
Free uniform and medical attention are provided and there
is an annual vacation leave of 21 days on full pay. There are
free quarters for a limited number of men. Housing allowance
for those who do not enjoy free quarters is granted as follows:-
General Duty Overseers Unmarried ...... A24 p.a.
General Duty Overseers Married ........ 48 p.a.
Applicants shall be required to sit for an educational ex-
amination, both written and oral, and be passed as physically fit
by the Prison Medical Officer.

through the Western Gate. Departure shall be made through

THE OCCASION OF THE BIRTHDAY OF HER
MAJESTY THE QUEEN, ON SATURDAY,
13TH JUNE, 1959.
1. No Vehicles other than those conveying Troops or Police will
be permitted to use the Western approaches to Clifford Park.
2. No Vehicles, other than that coveying His Excellency the
Governor will be permitted on Clifford Park Ground.
3. No Parking will be permitted on the road leading from Bay
Street to Fort Charlotte.
4. On the Fort Charlotte Ground spectators will be permitted
within the area roped off on the Southern side.

ON THE OCCASION OF THE BIRTHDAY OF HER MAJESTY
THE QUEEN ON JUNE 13TH, 1959, AT 9.00 P.M.
Vehicles will not be permitted to Park in the following
places:-
(a) The Grounds of Government House.
(b) On East Hill Street between the steps leading to Fred-
erick Street and the Eastern Entrance to Government
House.
Vehicles will be permitted to park on:-
(a) Blue Hill Road.
(b) Market Street (as far as Lewis Street).
(c) Western Junior School Grounds.
(d) The Southern Recreation Ground.
Chauffeur driven vehicles should enter Government House
Grounds by the Eastern Gate, and leave by the Western Gate.
Passengers should alight as indicated by the Police.
Pedestrians may enter Government House Grounds by either
the Eastern or Western Gates. At the conclusion of the evening
party, guests may, if they so desire, leave by the Garden Gates
leading into Market Street and Blue Hill Road.
Should weather conditions require it; an announcement will
be made from Station Z.N.S. at 8.00 p.m.
