Public Board of Works,
Nassau, N.P., Bahamas,
19th November, 1958.
RIGHT OF WAY
NEW WATER MAINS & PUBLIC ROAD LOCATION
The Public Board of Works will initiate a survey to acquire
a right of way for a new 50 foot wide road starting from Blue
Hills Road at Robinson Road and proceeding thereon along
Florida Ave. (Englerston), thence through lands owned by the
Board, through an existing road reservation in the Fraser Allot-
ments, across Soldier Road, through Ocean Estates, thence along
the back lot line of sundry small allotments to Fox Hill (South-
side) Road, thence along the northern side of the Boys' Indus-
trial School, through sundry parcels of land formerly parts of
the Pen, Sans Souci, Camperdown and Winton as far in the vi-
cinity of the East End Light.
It is also intended that a City Water Trunk Main be laid
along this road.
For the purpose of laying this Trunk Main, the Board will
require a right of way from the proposed Reservoir on top of
Blue Hills (near the bend) to Robinson Road; also a right of way
in the Winton Tract leading from the proposed main road to an
elevated site near what is locally known as "The Lookout" at
the top of an existing road. These branch roads are to be thirty
feet wide.
Mr. G. O'Brien, Surveyor of this City, acting on behalf of
the Public Board of Works, has entered into preliminary nego-
tiations with various owners and agents for the proposed new
road or highway; any persons not having been contacted, will
please do so as soon as possible (Phone 3779).
The construction of this much needed highway will be of
great benefit to the Community. The provision of a large Trunk
Main for City Water extending from Oakes Field to "Winton"
will confer improvements in supply and pressure throughout the
district.
The Board is confident that the Public will give its full co-
operation in this undertaking and thanks all those who have
kindly permitted the proposed right of way through their lands.
By Order,
G. A. BETHELL,
Chairman, Public Board of Works.
