GOVERNMENT NOTICE

Civil Aviation Dept.
Oakes International Airport
Nassau, N.P.,
14th December, 1955.
SALE OF LAND AT OAKES AIRFIELD-TO ORIGINAL
LAND OWNERS
All previous owners of land in that portion of Oakes Field
cited as area "A" and! shown on the abridged plan below are here-
by invited to make application for the repurchase of land ac-
quired from them under the Acquisition of Land (Air Field) Act,
1944 at the current rate fixed' by Government assessors.
In view of the development of this area since it was acquired,
many sites are now occupied by building owners and lessees who
by law have been given the first option to purchase land they
occupy. Therefore it is necessary, in many cases, to offer original
land owners alternative sites as near as possible to those they
originally owned. Consequently, it is desirable that applicants
submit their applications in person to the office of the Director of
Civil Aviation. They should bring with them as proof of their
former ownership of the property they wish to repurchase, cer.
tified copies of the original deeds which are obtainable from the
Registry. In addition, it is necessary for each applicant to leave,
with the Accountant, a deposit of 10% of the value of the acreage
he desires to purchase and to pay the balance within two weeks
thereafter. When this payment is made the conveyance would
be delivered to him as soon as the necessary executions are com-
pleted.
All applications should reach the office of the Director of
Civil Aviation, P.O. Box 975, Nassau, N.P. not later than the 9th
January, 1956. Where former land owners do not submit applica-
tions in writing or in person on or before this date, the Airports
Board will assume that they do not wish to take advantage of the
opportunity to repurchase land formerly owned by them at Oakes
Field and such land will subsequently be sold to the first pro-
spective buyer.
It is further advised that the cost of all fees necessary to
facilitate the proper conveyances of land now offered for sale will
be borne by the purchasers.
F. H. CHRISTIE,
Chairman, Airports Board.
