His Excellency 1he Acting Governor has been pleased to
appoint by an Instrument made under the Public Seal of the
Colony, The Honourable Frederick Mitclhell Noad, M.E.C., Acting
Colonial Secretary, to be His Deputy during his temporary ab-
sence from New Providence with effect from the 30th August,
1955.
Consequent upon the temporary absence from New Provi-
dence of His Excellency the Acting Governor, on a visit to the
districts of Eleuthera and Harbour Island, the Honourable Fred-
erick Mitchell Noad, M.E.C., Acting Colonial Secretary, is acting
as His Excellency's Deputy with effect from the 31st August,
1955.

NOTICE OF POSSESSION
Given Under
THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT
Chapter 265
WHEREAS by Notice No. 116 dated the 7th July, 1955, and
published in the Official Gazette dated the 7th July, 1955, the
Acthig Governor-in-Council declared that it was his intention to
acquire the land described in the Schedule hereto.
AND WHEREAS no claims for compensation have been
lodged with the Colonial Secretary for the said land
NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby notified that the selected
land has been appropriated by the Acting Governor-in-Council
for the purpose mentioned in the said notice with effect from the
date of this notice.

All that certain tract or parcel of land situated at Hope Town,
Abaco, one of the Bahama Islands and being bounded on the
North by a 9' Public Road which separates it from land the

the Methodist Church and land the property of Reggie Malone
and running thereon jointly seventy three feet (73') On the South
by a 9' Public Road which separates it from the Commissioner's
Office and running thereon thirty six feet (36') and On the West by
14' Public Road which separates it from the Public Park on which
the flag pole stands and running thereon sixty three feet (63')

POLICE RECRUITS REQUIRED
It is intended that a course of training for recruits should com-
mence at the Police Training School, Nassau at the beginning of
October 1955.
The Police Force offers to young men of good character and
education an interesting and useful career. Pay and conditions
of services are good with the security of a pension after 21 years
service.
Application should be made to the Commissioner of Police
in Nassau or if resident in an Out Island, to the Commissioner of
that District.
Minimum requirements are:-
Age-20 to 27 years.
Education-Equivalent of Grade VI.
Height-5 feet 9 inches.
Present Pay: Pay
per day paid weekly.
