A PROCLAMATION ......
WHEREAS The General Assembly of these Islands stands pro-
rogued to Thursday the 11th day of November, 1954.
AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the same should be further
prorogued.
I do, therefore, issue this my proclamation proroguing the said
General Assembly to Thursday the 13th day of January, 1955, then
to meet in the usual place in the City of Nassau for the despatch
of business.

NOTICE

GIVEN UNDER
THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT
(Ch. 265)

WHEREAS it appears to His Excellency Ihe Governor in Counc'i
that the land described in the Schedule hereto is required for a
public purpose.
NOW THEREFORE it is hereby notified that it is the intention
of His Excellency the Governor in Council to acquire the said land
for a public purpose to wit: for the purpose of implemen ing the
Agreement made with the concurrence of the Government of ti-e
Bahama Islands between the Government of the United Kingdom c.'
Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the
United States of America concerning a Long Range Proving Ground
for Guided Missles to be known as "The Bahamas Long Range Prov-
ing Ground".
ALL persons interested in the said land shall within 30 days ..f
the publication of thi notice state in writing to the Colonial Secretary
of the Colony the nature of their respective interests in the land
an dthe amount and particulars of their claim to compensation for
such interests.

SCHEDULE
All that tract or parcel of land, containing 1.11 acres, more or
less, and being a portion of the tract of 20 acres granted in 1866
to Lewis Lightbourn see record at page 26 of Book I in the Crown
Lands Office situate on the western coast of the Island of Sail
Salvador, in the vicinity of Bonefish Eay Point, as outlined on a plan
numbered F 55 AI 3942, on record at M.P. 1017D/159b of the Crown
Lands Office and by this reference made a part hereof, and more
particularly described as follows:-
The boundaries of ,he said tract or parcel of land now required
for a public purpose commence at a point on the western side of
the Main Public Road, known as the Limestone Road, which sail
point is approximately 5,420 feet from the eastern end of the con-
crete pier at Cockburn Town (measured in a northerly direction
along the said Limestone Road), and extend thence along the south-
ern boundary of the tract of 1.11 acres now vested in the Governor
in Council under the Acquisition of Land Act (Ch. 265), as recorded
in Book G 20 pages 114 to 115 in the Registrar General's Office,
North 85 degrees 02 minutes West 201.82 feet to a point at Mean
High Water Mark on the western coast of San Salvador Island
which point also marks the southwestern corner of the said tract of
1.11 acres vested in the Governor in Council, thence along the said
Mean High Water South 3 degrees 36 minutes East 277.30 feet, thence
leaving the said Mean High Water Mark and along the northern
boundary of the remainder of the said land originally granted to
Lewis Lightbourn South 85 degrees 02 minutes East 150.30 feet to
a point on the western side of the said Limestone Road which point
also marks the northeastern corner of the remainder of the said
land originally granted to Lewis Lightbourn thence along the western

side of the said Limestone Road. North 7 degrees 06 minutes East
274.39 feet back to the point of commencement which point also
marks the southeastern corner of the said tract of 1.11 acres vested
in the Governor in Council.

SCHEDULE
All that tract or parcel of land containing 40.10 acres, more or
less, and being a portion of the tract of 700 acers granted in 1813 to
William H. Williams et al see record at page 95 of Book I in the
Crown Lands Office and now said to be the property of the Roman
Catholic Prefect Apostolic of the Bahamas, and situate near the
western coast of the Island of San Salvador in the vicinity of Bone-
fish Bay Point as outlined on a plan numbered F 55 AI 3942, on
record at M.P. 1017D/159b of the Crown Lands Office and by this
reference made a part hereof, and more particularly described as'
follows:-
From the eastern end of the concrete pier at Cockburn Town
go northerly along the Main Public Road known as the Limestone
Road for a distance of 6272 feet (approx.) to a wooden stake on the
eastern side of the said Public Road, 10 feet from its centre line, then
go South 85 degrees 02 minutes East 36.94 feet to a wooden stake
which marks the southwestern corner of the said tract originally
granted to William H. Williams et al and thence along that portion
of the southern boundary of the said land originally granted to
William H. Williams et al which also marks the southern boundaries
of the tract of 20.32 acres and 3.575 acres now vested in the Governor
in Council under the Acquisition of and Act (Ch. 265), as recorded
in Book X 2 pages 305 to 306, and in Book E 20 pages 552 to 553
respectively in the Registrar General's Office, South 85 degrees 02
minutes East 1459.80 feet to a nail driven in the rock which marks
the southeastern corner of the said tract of 3.575 acros now vested
in the Governor in Council and is also the point of beginning of the
said tract or parcel of land now required for a public purpose.
From this point of beginning the boundaries of the said tract
or pared of land extend thence along the southern boundary of the

said land originally granted to William H. Williams et al South 85
degrees 02 minutes East 2502.07 feet, thence along a portion of the
eastern boundary of the said land originally granted to William H
Williams et al North 4 degrees 58 minutes East 275.0 feet, thence
through the said land originally granted to William H. Williams by
the following three courses:- Ncrth 85 degrees 02 minutes West'
1246.38 feet, North 5 degrees 00 minutes East 799.50 feet and North
84 edgrees 59 minutes West 1462.95 feet to a concrete monument
which is ioca.ed on the eastern boundary of the said tract of 20.32
acres vested in the Governor in Council, thence along a portion of
the eas.ern boundary cf the said tract of 20.32 acres South 13
degrees 41 minutes 30 seconds East 772.03 feet to a concrete monu-
ment wnich mars the northeastern corner of the said tract of 3.575
acres vested in the Governor in Council, thence along the eastern
boundary of the said tract of 3.575 acres vested in the Governor in
Council South 11 degrees 37 minutes West 346.28 feet back to the
point of beginning.

NO. 167.
It is hereby notified that copies of The Colonial Civil Aviation
(Application of Act) (Amendment) Order 1954 and The Colonial Air
Navigation (.Amendment) Order, 1954, which came into operation on
the 1st July, 1954, may be purchased from the Sercetariat.
2. The Colonial Civil Aviation (Application of Act) (Amendment)
Order, 1954 deletes Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland from the
Second Schedule to The Colonial Civil Aviation (Application of Act)
Order, 1952 which extends certain provisions of the Civil Aviation
Act, 1949 to the colonies and other territories specified in that Sche-
dule.
3. The Colonial Air Navigation (Amendment) Order, 1954 deletes
NGrthern Rhodesia and Nyasaland from the Sixth Schedule to The
Colonial Air Navigation Order, 1949 which regulates civil aviation
in the colonies and other territories specified in that Schedule.
4. Civil Aviation in Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland is now
regulated by legislation enacted by these territories.

It is hereby notified that His Excellency the Governor has ap-
proved the grant of the Colonial Police and Fire Brigade Long Service
Medal to No. 63 Constable C. H. Tynes and No. 76 Constables V. C.
Tynes of the Bahamas Police Force in recognition of their 18 years
exemplary service in the Force.
