NO. 6. His Excellency the Governor has approved the following
appointments:-
Dr. C. W. Silk, M.D., C.M., L.M.C.C., to be a District Medical
Officer with effect from the 17th December, 1953.
Mr. Clement T. Maynard to be confirmed in his appointment
as Chief Laboratory Assis:ant with effect from the 15th
July, 1953.

It is hereby notified that The Carriage by Air (Colonies,
Protectorates and Trust Territories) Order, 1953, copies of
which may be purchased at the Secretariat, came into op-
eration on the 1st, Januar3, 1954.
2. This order is made under the Carriage by Air Act, 1932,
the provisions of which give effect to the Warsaw Con-
vention. The Order extends certain rules of the Convention
relating to international carriage by air to the territories
mentioned in the Second Schedule to the order. It reBlaces,
consolidates and revokes the Carriage by Air (Colonim,
Protectorates, and Mandated Territories) Order, 1934, and
certain other related Orders made under the Act.
The foregoing Notices numbered 6 and 7 are published by
command.

BOARD OF EDUCATION
COMMERCIAL CLASSES

1. Students who desire to attend these classes are asked either
to enrol at the Western Senior School between the hours of
5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 26th January or to call
at the Education Offices before that date and complete en-
rolment forms.
2. Provided that the number enrolling justifies the formation
of a class or classes, the class or classes will start on Monday,
February 1st at 5:30 p.m. A provisional Time Table has been
prepared, copies of which may be obtained from the Edu-
cation Offices or at the Western Senior School on enrol-
ment. It is hoped to be able to offer classes in English,
Shorthand, Typewriting and Book-keeping.
3. The course of study is designed to cover the Royal Society
of Arts Examination in Commercial Subjects. The first year
is a preparatory year; in this year students will be prepared
for the Shorthand Theory Examination of the Pitman In-
sti'ute. The other years will be devoted to practice in speed.
Stage I in all subjects should be taken at the end of the
second year, Stage II and Stage III at the end of the third
and fourth years respectively.
4. The session will be one of 40 weeks duration. The fees will
be approximately 1/6 per hour or 16. 10. 0. per annum for
the complete course of 8 hours per week for 40 weeks. Fees
are pabale in advance each term.

may be obtained froih the undersigned. The Royal Society
of Arts conducts examinations four times a year, in March,
May, July and November. Any students whether attending
-these classes or not who intend to enter for these examina-
tions should see the Director of Education before January
15th, March 1st, April 24th or September 15th respectively.
Pitma-s Examinations Institute are prepared to make
arrangements through the undersigned at any time that a
group of candidates present themselves.
