General Sanction for the
Transfer of Certain Ships

The Governor in exercise of
the authority delegated to him
by the Minister of Transport
of the powers under Section 1
(1) of the Ships and Aircraft
(Transfer Restriction) Act,
1939 (hereinafter referred to as
"the Act") and in exercise of
all other powers enabling him
in that behalf and with the
concurrence of the Secretary of
State for the Colonies hereby
gives his sanction for the pur-
pose of Section 1 (1) of the Act
to the transfer, to persons
qualified to own British ships
in accordance with the provi-
sions of Section 1 of the Merch-
ant Shipping Act, 1894, and
having their residence or prin-
cipal place of business in the
Colony of the Bahama Islands
of any ship registered at the
Port of Nassau in the Island
of New Providence or any share
in any such ship, and to the
mortgage to such persons of
any such ship or share therein,
and to the transfer to such
persons of any mortgage of any
such ship or share.

"The Act") and in exercise of

entitled to own British ships in
accordance with the provisions

the Act applies or any share
in any such ship, and to the
mortgage of any such ship or
share therein, and to the trans-
fer of any mortgage of any
such ship or share, provided
that the ship:
(1) is registered in accord-
ance with the provisions of
Part 1 of the Merchant Ship-
ping Act, 1894, at the Port of
Nassau in the Island of New
Providence and
(2) does not exceed 50 tons
gross tonnage. Dated the 11th
