HIS Excellency EDWARD BETHAM BEETHAM, Esquire, C.M.G., C.V.O., O.B.E.,
SGovernor and Commander-in-Chief of the Windward Islands, left the
Colony for St. Vincent yesterday.
IN pursuance of authority conferred upon him by Letters Patent, His Excellency
the Governor has issued a Commission appointing WILLIAM GEOFFREY Boss,
Esquire, Financial and Economic Adviser, Windward Islands, to be Governor's
Deputy, Windward Islands, with effect from 4th October, 1954, until further notice.
His Excellency's Commission is published for general information.

OPENING OF THE NEW LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
T is hereby announced for general information that the new Legislative Council
will be opened by His Excellency the Governor at York House on Wednesday,
13th October, 1954, and that the public is cordially invited to attend. Owing to the
very limited accommodation in the Council Chamber special invitations to a large
number of persons (e.g., members of public bodies) who would otherwise have been
invited, could not be issued. There will, however, be a certain number of seats
available for members of the public who have not received special invitations. Persons
desirious of availing themselves of this limited seating accommodation should
endeavour to arrive at York House not later than 9.30 a.m. on 13th October
Arrangements are also being made for broadcast of His Excellency's opening
address afid of the replies by Honourable Members through loudspeakers one of which
will be stationed outside York House for the benefit of persons who could not be
accommodated within the building.
