NOTICE

GOVERNMENT OF GRENADA

Ministry of Communications and Works
Pre-qualification of Contractors for
Feeder Roads Construction

1. Notice is hereby given that the Government
of Grenada through the Ministry of Communica-
tions and Works will receive applications for pre-
qualification from interested Contractors who may
wish to pre-qualify for tendering in connection
with the construction of Feeder Roads in Grenada.

2. The overall project calls for the construction
and improvement of about 30 miles of Feeder
Roads. Contractors are being pre-qualified for
tendering on approximately 9 miles of the overall
mileage envisaged within the project: 4.97 miles
are in the parish of St. David and 4 miles in the
parish of St. Patrick.

3. The Feeder Roads are to be single lane roads
to serve Agricultural areas and to provide access
to main arterial highways. They are of low cost
construction and for the most part they follow
existing access roads or tracks; with a minimum
of earthworks in the form of cut and fill. Features
of construction work involve provision of Passing
Zones on tangents or by widening curves, ex-
cavation for drainage, and culverts, etc. The
major road construction work involves the con-
struction of a ten foot wide emulsified asphalt
(RS-2) penetration macadam pavement.

4. Inspection work and the issuance of Certi-
ficates for payment is the responsibility of a firm
of consulting engineers engaged for the purpose.

5. Consideration will be limited to construction
firms whose principal place of business is in one
of the member countries of the Caribbean
Development Bank, the U.S.A. and the Federal
Republic of Germany.

6. Financing of the project will be undertaken
by the Government of Grenada and the Caribbean
Development Bank.

7. Prequalification data submitted for con-
sideration should stress similar types of work
performed and location thereof. Important
considerations will be the firms' or joint ventures'
first hand knowledge of the area and working
conditions in the region. Preaualification data
forms for Contractors are available from the Min-
istry of Communications and Works, St. George's,

Grenada, W.I., or from the Caribbean Develop-
ment Bank, Wildey, St. Michael, Barbados, W.I.
An executed copy should be submitted with
applications.
8. Prequalification information must be received
not later than Friday, December 3, 1976 at the
Ministry of Communications and Works, St.
George's, Grenada, W.I. with a copy sent to the
Caribbean Development Bank, Wildey, St.
Michael, Barbados, W.I.
9. The data submitted will be evaluated by the
Ministry of Communications and Works, and a
short-list of firms or joint ventures prepared.
Those on the short-list will be req- tested to sub-
mit tenders within three weeks of the request.
Interested construction firms are advised to
acquaint themselves with the project during the
prequalification period.
10. The Government of Grenada shall not
be bound to assign any reason for not prequal-
ifying an applicant or be responsible of any
expenses incurred by the applicants in the
preparation documents.
G. A. BRATHWAITE
Cabinet Secretary, Grenada.
