Two-Week August Induction Course

An Induction Course for all young people
Secondary Schools of Grenada will be held during
the two weeks commencing 16th August, 1976, at
Grenada Teachers' College.
The minimum qualification for appointment to
teaching is the School Leaving Certificate or one
G.C.E. O' Level subject.

In the Matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153) of the Revised Laws of Grenada.

It is hereby noi.ied for general information
that, in pursuance o. the powers vested in Him
under the Land Acq. sition Ordinance (Cap. 153),
of the Revised La,: oaf Gre;nada the Governor-
General acting in accordance with the advice of
the Cabinet of Grenada has been pleased to
appoint Mr. Sylvester Sandy to be the Authorised
Officer for the purpose of the acquisition of the
lot of land mentioned and described in the
schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

All that lot piece or parcel of land situate at
Calivigny in the parish of St. George and
believed to be owned by or under the control of
the heirs of Catherine Mc Donald containing by
estimation one acre more or less.
The said lot is bounded as follows:-
On the north by Government lands; on the
south by lands of Jonas Joseph; on the east by
Government lands; on the west by an allowed
road or howsoever the same may be abutted,
bounded, known or described.

WHEREAS it is provided in effect by section 3
of the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) of
the Revised Laws of Grenada that if the Gover-
nor-General acting in accordance with the advice
of the Cabinet of Grenada considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose HE
may cause a declaration to that effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Gover-
nor-General acting as aforesaid that the land
mentioned and described in the schedule hereto
should be acquired for a public purpose.
Now, THEREFORE, in the exercise of the powers
vested in Him by Section 3 of the Land
Acquisition Ordinance, the Governor-General,
acting with the advice of the Cabinet of Grenada
is pleased to declare and it is hereby declared
that the land mentioned and described in the
schedule hereto shall be acquired for a public
purpose, to wit, for the extension of a public
playing field.

of the Cabinet of Grenada considers that any

ADVERTISEMENT
Post of Principal-St. Andrew's Junior
Secondary School

Applications are invited to fill the post of
Principal of the St. Andrew's Junior Secondary
School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(a) Trained teacher plus 5 years experience
as a Principal of a Primary School plus
one year of university training or
(b) a degree from a recognized university
plus one year of professional training.
Preference will be given to persons with a
university degree, professional training and
successful teaching experience.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
The position is pensionable. Salary will be
payable to the successful applicant at a suitable
point in the ED 9 scale ($6,420 X $216-$8,388
plus 15 % interim salary increase) dependent on
qualifications.
Applications should be addressed ot the Chief
Education Officer, Ministry of Education, to
reach him not later than 6th August, 1976.

NOTICE
It has been brought to the attention of the Har-
bour Master that the waters within the Carenage
are being polluted by waste materials from
vessels, this is contrary to the Harbour Regula-
tions.
"The master of a vessel or any other person
shall not cause or permit any coal, ballast,
ashes, rubbish, oil, or oily waters, paints,
spirits or inflammable liquid to be discharged
overboard or to escape from any vessel or
tank into any part of any harbour or cause
or permit these or similar materials to be
placed on shore in such manner or position
as to render them likely to flow or be washed
into the harbour.'"

Masters and owners of vessels and other
crafts using the Carenage or inner harbour are
asked to co-operate by observing the regulation.

RELEASE

It has been brought to the notice of the
Ministry of Labour that employers concerned
have not been complying with the provisions of
the Provident Fund (Agricultural Workers) Act,
1969 (No. 8 of 1969), in regard to the deduction
and payment to the Treasury of the amount of
15 cents per day worker for welfare from the
wages of daily paid workers in their employ.
The Ministry wished to emphasise that
employers who fail to pay to the Accountant
General at the Treasury or at any District
Revenue Office the above-mentioned deductions
made from the wages of the workers in their
employ are guilty of an offence against the Act.
The penalty for such an offence is a fine, on
summary conviction, not exceeding two thousand,
five hundred dollars ($2,500) or imprisonment
for a term not exceeding twelve months.
Arrangements have accordingly been made for
one officer each from the Ministry of Labour,
Treasury and the Police Department to call upon
the defaulting employers for prompt collection
of the sums deductible from the wages of workers
employed by them.
