UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PRO-
GRAMME/WORLD METEOROLOGICAL
ORGANIZATION

Project for Advanced Training in Meteorology
Caribbean Meteorological Institute

VACANCY

Applications are invited for the post of Secre-
tary in the above mentioned Project.
Applicants must possess minimum speed of
45 words per minute in typing and 100 words per
minute in shorthand. Preference will be given to
persons with 'O' level passes in English and
Mathematics/Physics and with experience in
secretarial duties.
Salary: EDS $5,000-$6,400 (net per annum)
plus allowance. Qualifications and experience will
determine the point of entry in the salary scale.

qualifications and two references should reach
the Project Manager, UNDP/WMO Project,
Caribbean Met. Institute, P.O. Box 130, Bridge-

CARIBBEAN METEOROLOGICAL
INSTITUTE

Vacancy Notice: Chief Technical Officer


Applications are invited from suitably qualified
persons for the post of CHIEF TECHNICAL OFFICER
at the Caribbean Meteorological Institute in Bar-
bados. The Institute is a regional institution of
fourteen countries of the Caribbean Meteoro-
logical Organization.
Duties:
As Head of the Instruments Section of the
Institute, the Chief Technical Officer will plan,
direct and participate in the execution of the
work of the Section the functions of which
include:
(i) The maintenance of the Institute's electronic
equipment which include a 10 cm weather
radar, weather facsimile and meteorolog-
ical satellite receiving installations, voice
telecommunications equipment.
(ii) A supervisory maintenance responsibility
for five other similar weather radars in
the Caribbean.
(iii) the repair and calibration of meteorolog-
ical surface observing equipment.
(iv) The training of radar and meteorological
instrument technicians.
(v) The fabrication of experimental equipment
for use by other sections (agrometeorology,
climatology, hydrometeorology, meteoro-
logy) of the Institute.
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a degree of at least
master's level in the field of electrical engineering
with a major in electronics. Practical experience


in the field of radar is essential and experience in
the maintenance and design of electronic equip-
ment would be an asset.

Appointment:
The successful applicant will be appointed to
a post at the level of Lecturer with conditions of
service similar to those of the University of the
West Indies. A contributory pension scheme is
being established. The salary scale is:

BDS $16,500 x 774-21,144 (BAR) x 774-25,788
with 7.5% increases effective on 1st August,
1976 and 1977.

Bridgetown

LOAN NO. 277/OC-BA

Pre-Qualification of Contractors-Contract "C"
Administration Building

THE Government of Barbados proposes to award
contracts for the Expansion and Improvement
of the Port of Bridgetown (Deep Water Harbour)
which will partly be financed with a loan from the
Inter-American Development Bank.
2. The Project consists of three elements :
(a) expansion and improvement of the
existing Deep Water Harbour including
an extension of the main wharf, con-
struction of a transit (container) shed,
renovation and modification of an
existing transit shed and construction
of a two-storeyed Administration
Building ;
(b) creation of a new Shallow Draft Facility
including the construction of a new 513'
long wharf and a new transit shed ;
(c) creation of a new Bulk Handling Facility
including the construction of an 80' x 77'
loading platform connected to land
with berthing/mooring dolphins and
mooring points on land.
3. It is expected that Contract "C" Adminis-
tration Building -will be let by October 1976 for
an estimated time of construction of about
15 months. Contract "C" will include the con-
construction of an Administration Building as
follows :-
(i) two-storeyed reinforced concrete or steel
frame structure ;
(ii) total floor area on two floors (Ground
Floor and First Floor) approximately
35,000 square feet, with main dimension
175' long by 100' wide ;

In the matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153)

It is hereby notified for general information
that, in pursuance of the powers vested in Him
under the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153),
the Governor-General acting in accordance with
the advice of the Cabinet of Grenada has been
pleased to appoint Mr. Sylvester Sandy to be
the Authorised Officer for the purpose of the
acquisition of the lot of land mentioned and
described in the schedule hereto.

ing by estimation 25 acres situate at Grand Anse
in the parish of St George and owned by

Limited is to be acquired for a public
purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND
(SECOND PUBLICATION)
WHEREAS it is provided in effect by section 3
of the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) of
the Revised Laws of Grenada that if the Gover-
nor-General acting in accordance with the advice
of the Cabinet of Grenada considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose HE
may cause a declaration to that effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Gover-
nor-General acting as aforesaid that the land
mentioned and described in the schedule hereto
should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
a communal pasture.
Now, THEREFORE, it is hereby declared by the
Governor-General acting in accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet of Grenada that upon the
Second Publication of this declaration in the
Gazette, the land mentioned and described in the
schedule hereto, shall be acquired for the above-
mentioned purpose and shall vest absolutely in
the Crown.
