RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT
CORPORATION

BELMOPAN, BELIZE


Pre.qualification of Contractors for Construction
of Urban Working Class Housing
The Government of Belize is negotiating with
the Caribbean Development Bank a loan for an
Urban Working Class Housing Project to be
built in Belmopan and Ladyville, utilizing funds
from the U.S. Agency for International Develop-
ment, A.I.D. The Project comprises construction
of urbanization and 200 low income houses with
an area of approximately 450 square feet per
unit. It is intended that payment for work per-
formed by contractors under this programme will
be made utilizing the proceeds from this loan.
The Government of Belize invites contractors
interested in construction of urbanization or
houses or both to submit pre-qualification data
including:
(a) experience and record in construction of
similar projects, and
(b) size of firm, staffing, equipment and
financial situation.
Only contractors whose principal clace of
business is in a member country of the Caribbean
Development Bank, or the U.S.A. or any other
eligible country may bid. Development Bank,
Barbados and at the Reconstruction and Develop-
ment Cornoration, Belmopan, Belize. Construc-
tion will be given for the award of contracts in
multiples of 25 houses or for the entire project.
Only contractors who have pre-qualified will
he invited to submit tenders. Pre-aualification
data should be fowarded in sealed envelopes
addressed to the Chairman, Joint Committee,
Urban Working Class Housing Project, Belmopan
Belize, and should arrive on or before 31st March,
1976. A copy of the data should be forwarded to
the Caribbean Development Bank, P.O. Box 408,

THE Government of St. Lucia proposes to
invite tenders from prequalified contractors
for the construction of a sewer tank main from
the housing development of Entrepot, Patterson
lands, and the Ravine Chabot collector systems
to pumping station No. 1 in Castries.
The project will include:--
(1) The laying of approximately 8,900 lin. ft.
of 12" diameter pi.pp.
(2) The laying of approximately 2,600 lin. ft.
of 6" diameter pipe.
(3) All necessary in manholes and the rein-
statement of the roads along which the
pipe line passes.

Expansion and Improvement of the Port of
Bridgetown
INTER-AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK
LOAN NO. 277/OC-BA

Pre-Qualification of Contractors-Contract
"D"-On-Shore Facilities

THE Government of Barbados proposes to
award contracts for the Expansion and Improve-
ment of the Port of Bridgetown (Deep Water
Harbour) which will partly be financed with a
loan from the Inter-American Development
Bank.


2. The Project consists of three elements:
(a) expansion and improvement of the
existing Deep Water Harbour includ-
ing an extension of the main wharf,
construction of a transit (container)
shed, renovation and modification of
an existing transit shed and construc-
tion of a two storeyed Administration
Building;
(b) creation of a new Shallow Draft
Facility including the construction of
a new 513' long wharf and a new
transit shed;
(c) creation of a new Bulk Handling
Facility including the construction of
an 80' x 77' loading platform con-
nected to land with berthing/ moor-
ing dolphins and mooring points on
land.
3. Contract "D"-On-shore Facilities-is ex-
pected to be let by August, 1976, for an
estimated time of construction of about
17 months. Contract "D" will include:-
(i) a transit (container) shed of steel frame
construction or approved alternative
400' long by 143' wide;
(ii) a transit shed of steel frame construc-
tion or approved alternative 400' lcng
by 90' wide;
(iii) modifications to an existing transit
shed over an area of approximately
5,000 square feet to create passenger
facilities, a mail centre and similar
facilities;
(iv) paving, fencing, gatehouses, grading
and similar site work;
(v) installation of services including:
(a) sanitary facilities
(b) potab'e water
(c) power
(d) lighting
(e) telephone
(f) drainage
t. In order to be considered for pre-qualifi-
cation contractors must be from one of the
following countries:-
(i) countries which are members of the
Inter-American Development Bank;
(ii) relatively undeveloped countries which
are members of the International
Monetary Fund; or
(iii) developed countries which have been
declared eligible by the Bank for this
purpose.

5. This Notice relates to Contract "D" only
which will we awarded as a single Unit-Price
Contract based on bills of Quantities. Applica-
tions are now invited from contractors wishing
to qualify for inclusion in the Register of
Contractors to be invited to tender for the con-
tract. Only contractors who pre-qualify will be
invited to tender.

Qualifications:
Men or single women under 45 years of age,
must be S R N and Registered Nurse Tutors
(in the case of women candidates, S C M would

Duties:
1. Classroom teaching and demonstrating nurs-
ing practice, both in training school and in
hospital wards and departments.
2. Reporting to Principal Tutor on effects of
teaching.
3. Interviewing students and pupils nurses on
behalf of the Principal Tutor.
4. Assessing the progress of student and pupil
nurses in consultation with Clinical
Instructors and reporting thereon to the
Principal Tutor.
Terms of Appointment:
The posts are on contract with the Government
of Zambia for one tour of 24 to 36 months, but
the minimum tour to earn a gratuity is 30 months.
Gratuity:
On satisfactory completion of the minimum
tour of 30 months a gratuity of 25% of gross
emoluments is paid.
Leave:
Overseas vacation leave on full pay on satis-
factory completion of contract is granted at the
rate of three days for each completed month of
resident service, less and leave taken locally.


Quarters:
Government housing. (heavy furniture only)
will be provided at a rental of 121% of basic
salary.
Passages: free return passages by air, subject to
satisfactory completion of the contract will be
provided.
Salary: K3600 to K4596 p.a.-entry on this scale

Vacant Post of Senior Medical Officer,
St. Vincent


A PPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the vacant post of
Senior Medical Officer, Ministry of Health.
Housing, Community Development and Local.
Government, St. Vincent.

Qualifications:
Medical qualifications registrable in the United
Kingdom, including a qualification and ex-
perience in Public Health. Experience in a
similar post in the Caribbean would be an asset

Salary and Allowances:
The appointment may be on a permanent and
pensionable basis or on contract for a period of
two to three years and will be subject to medical
fitness. Salary $13,200 E.C., plus pay addition of
$900 per annum along with Overseas Service Aid
Scheme allowances where the successful candi-
date qualifies for these. If on contract 25% of
salary is payable as gratuity on successful
completion. Private practice is not allowed, but
an allowance of 25% of salary is payable in lieu
thereof. A transport allowance is attached to the
post.

Passages:
Free passages-in the case of a contract, return
passages-will be provided for the officer, his
wife and children not exceeding six persons in


all. Children must be under 18 years of age,
unmarried and dependent on the officer.

Quarters:
If Government quarters are available these will
be rented to the officer at a rental not exceeding
121% of salary up to a maximum of $100 per
month. An OSAS officer will be eligible for fur-
nished quarters provided by Government at a
rental of 121%.

Leave:
Thirty (30) working days per annum out of
which twelve (12) working days compulsory
leave must be taken annually. Leave will be
granted only after one (1) year of resident
service.

Duties:
The Officer is the Head of the Medical and
Health Department and will be required to advise
the Minister of Health on all medical and public
health matters in the State, including the or-
ganisation and supervision of all Medical
Institutions and District Health and Medical
Services; also to carry out such other duties not
inconsistent with those of the post which may be
assigned to him by his Ministry.
