VACANCY FOR TECHNICAL OFFICER



TfHE Caribbean Meteorological Organisation
S(CMO) is inviting applications from experi-
enced West Indian meteorologists for the post of
Technical Officer in the CMO Headquarters Unit,
Port of Spain, Trinidad. The Officer who should
be at least at the level of Class II (World Meteo-
rological Organisation Classification of Meteoro-
logical Personnel) will be based in Trinidad, but
will be required to serve in other Member-
.oLntries of the CMO.

Under the general direction of the Co-ordinat-
ing Director, the Technical Officer will be
required to:

(1) visit such Member-countries of the CMO as
may be necessary and to report on their
meteorological services,
(ii) assist with the establishment of new weather
forecasting offices;
(iii) check and report on the implementation of
international standards and practices in
those Member-countries which do not
possess national meteorological services;
(iv) review the meteorological instrumentation
and equipment needs in each country and
make any necessary recommendations for
remedying deficiencies;
(v) recommend' and arrange, as necessary,
for the repair and calibration of meteoro-
logical instruments by the Caribbean
Meteorological Institute;
(vi) to work as counterpart to the Regional
Meteorological Adviser (at present based in
Antigua) for a period of one year;
(vii) to carry out such functions as may be
assigned to him from time to time.
Conditions of service are those applicable to
posts in the Caribbean Commonwealth Secretariat
and the salary attached to the post is in the scale
TT $890x30-$1010 per month. In addition a
housing allowance of $250 per month and a motor
vehicle allowance of $90 per month are payable.

1. The Government of Antigua, West Indies,

Demountable Cutter Suction Dredge mounted on
pontoon and suitable for transport by road.

3. The hull of the Dredge can be either a
single pontoon or may consist of a main pontoon
and a number of side pontoons. The dredge
pumps, hydraulic pumps and auxiliaries may be
driven by a single diesel engine mounted on the,
main pontoon. The controls for the engines,
winches, pumps and other hydraulic units, should
be mounted on a single panel located in the cabin.
The Dredge is to be supplied with approx.
2000 feet of 8 inch diameter discharge pipeline
and is to be completely fitted with all necessary
cutter, cutter ladder spuds, winches, etc., for full
operation.
4. The Dredge is required for earliest possible
delivery. Tenderers are required to state delivery
date to port of shipping.
5. The tender price should be quoted in Eastern
Caribbean Dollars, C.I.F. Antigua, West Indies.
6. Tenders will only be considered by firms or

East Caribbean Currency Authority Vacant Posts

The Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority
invites applications for appointment to the posts
3f Secretary to the Managing Director and Secre-
:ary to the Deputy Managing Director. The Head-
quarters of the Authority will be transferred to
St. Kitts in early 1975 and the persons appointed
to these posts will be required to undertake to
move with the Authority to St. Kitts.

Duties
(1) The Secretary to the Managing Director will
be required:
(a) to undertake all the normal duties of a
Confidential Secretary;
(b) to register, record and file incoming and
outgoing confidential mail;
(c) to circulate both confidential and
ordinary mail as directed by the

Qualifications
Applicants must have recognized secretarial
u:l: ications with minimum speeds of Shorthand
100 w.o.m. and Typing 60 w.p.m. Applicants

'11l be expected to show initiative and have good
personal qualities.
Salary
(a) Secretary to Managing Director: $7,920+3
x 300-$8820.
(b) Secretary to Deputy Managing Director:
$6,960+3 x 300-$7,860.
The point of entry in the scale will depend on
qualifications, training and experience.
Allowances
A house allowance at the rate of $1500 per
annum will be payable during the period that the
headquarters of the Authority remain in Barbados,
provided that the successful applicant is not a
national of Barbados.
Leave
24 working days (including Saturdays, exclud-
ing Bank Holidays) leave per calendar year.
Passages
The Authority will meet the cost of passages to
Barbados and will be prepared to reimburse any
reasonable claim made in respect of the cost of
the transportation to Barbados of personal and
household effects.
Barbados Income Tax
Staff employed by the Authority at its head-
quarters in Barbados are exempted from the
payment of income tax.

Pension Contribution
In the case where a successful applicant is a
public officer who has been seconded by a parti-
cipating Government to the service of the
Authority, a pension contribution will be paid by
the Authority to the participating Government.
The Authority has a Pension Scheme and a
Group Medic:l Insurance Plan for the benefit of
its staff.

Barbados Industrial Development Corporation
Pre-qualificat'on ol Contractors for the Con-
struction of Factory for Rattan Furnidure Limited
at Harbour Industrial Park

1. In the month of May, 1975, the Barbados
Industrial Development Corporation will
request priced tenders from pre-qualified.
contractors for the construction of the
factory for Rattan Furniture Ltd., Harbour
Industrial Park.
2. The project put out to tender will consist
of:-
(a) A ma'n two-storey factory shell; and
(b) A single storey factory shell with a
mezzanine covering approximately
one quarter of the ground floor area.
(a) The two-storey section is approxi-
mately 120' 0" long by 80' 0" wide and
will consist of a structural steel framed
building with 8", 6" and 4" hollow
concrete block walls, a reinforced con-
crete floor slab and plumbing.
(b) This building is 68' 0" long by 60' 0"
wide having a reinforced concrete
framework over the first bay of the
factory with 8" and 4" hollow concrete
block walls, suspended floor slab and
roof together with a single storey
portal frame building with 8" hollow

3. The site is located on the Eastern side of
Prescod Boulevard and immediately North
