Publicaton of Assessment List

r1 HE Public is hereby notified that in accord-
I ance with section 22 of the Water Supply
Act No. 23 of 1969, Assessment Lists of Water
rate payers have been prepared and fixed.

These lists are exhibited at the entrance to
the Magistrate's Court in each parish, and at
the office of the Central Water Commission,
St. George's.
The Public is also notified that in accordance

with section 33 of the said law the time of pay-
ment of water rates without fines throughout the
State has been extended from the 31st cf July,
1973 to the 31st October, 1973.

OTICE is hereby g'vcn that a Session of the
High Court at C enada in its Criminal
Jurisdiction will be held at the Court Houre in the
town of Saint George on Tuesday the 2nd day of
October, 1973, at 9.30 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over to
prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
Jurors or Witnesses are required to give their
personal attendance, and all ofEcers who have
taken inquisitions, depositions, examinations,
recognisances or other papers cognisable by the
Court are required to return the same without
delay to this office.

Essay Compettition on Caribbean Community
for Sixth Formers in Secondary Schools
in Member Countries and the Bahamas

Topic
"How can the Caribbean Community help to
overcome the economic and social problems of
the English speaking Caribbean?".
Prizes
The Competition will carry the following
prizes:

(a) First Prize
(i) For a student resident in the Windward
Islands, Leeward Islands, Barbados
and Trinidad and Tobago:
A free trip to the Headquarters of the
Regional Secretariat in Guyana,
as the guest of the Secretary-
General, together with a free trip
to Jamaica;
(ii) For a student resident in Guyana:
A free trip to the Headquarters of
the Eastern Caribbean Common
Market (ECCM) Secretariat in
Antigua, together with a free trip
to Jamaica;
(ii) For a student resident in Belize,
Bahamas or Jamaica:
A free trip to the Headquarters of the
Regional Secretariat in Guyana,
as the guest of the Secretary-
General, together with a free trip
to one of the Leeward or Wind-
ward Islands;


(b) Second Prize
(i) For a student resident in any Member
Country of CARIFTA (Except Guyana)
and the Bahamas:
A free trip to the Headquarters of the
Regional Secretariat in Guyana;
(ii) For a student resident in Guyana:
A free trip to the Headquarters of
the Eastern Caribbean Common
Market Secretariat in Antigua;
(c) Third Prize
A gift of a set of publications and reading
material on the Caribbean.
Rules
1. The student must be at the end of June, 1973
on the register of a Secondary School of a
Member Country of CARIFTA or the
Bahamas.
2. Entries must be in the contestant's own
handwriting and must be his personal
effort and an original and previously
unpublished essay.
3. Each entry must be submitted on ruled
paper (quarto or foolscap size) and written
on one side of the paper only.
4. Each entry must be accompanied by a
statement from the Headmaster/Head-
mistress of the School which the student
attends stating the age of the student and
that to the best of his/her knowledge, the
script was written by the student sub-
mitting the entry.
5. The deadline for submission of the scripts
will be 1st October, 1973.
6. The length of the Essay should not exceed
4,000 words.
7. Entries should be submitted in sealed
envelopes addressed to:

Commonwealth Caribbean Regional
Secretariat,
P.O. Box 637,
Georgetown, Guyana.
8. Entries will be judged by a panel of three (3)
judges to be selected by the Secretary-
General from the Staff of the University
of Guyana and the University of the West
Indies. The decision of the judges will be
final.

following items to the Customs and Excise
Department.
Sixteen dozen white uniform shirts with
epaulettes.
Three dozen pairs officers' shoes
Five dozen pairs guards shoes
Eleven hundred and fifty-two yards American
khaki drill

Customs uniforms" and should reach the Chair-
man, Tenders Board, Premier's Office not later
than noon on September, 15th, 1973.

Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, one (1) Post-
graduate scholarship in Tropical Agriculture,
tenable at the University of the West Indies,
