Grenada Technical and Vocational Institute

Stuie, St. George's, announces its provisional
programmes for the academic year beginning
September, 1973.
Proposed Prog~names:
1. Full-Time Day
2. 1-Day Per Week Release
3. Part-Time Evening.
Provisional Courses and Minimum Course
Requirements:
1. Two-Year Technician Courses:
Two (2) "0" Level Passes, one in English,
the other in Mathematics or a Science subject.
2.-(a) Two-Year Diploma Craft Courses:
(b) 1-Day per Week Release Courses:
School Leaving Certificate or ach;eve-
meat test; or if 18 years old or over,
intended or present employer's
recommendation, plus achievement
test.
3. Foremen and Supervisors Courses:
Employer's recommendation and
evidence of applicant's position or
attainment.
4. Evening Courses.
Subject to enrolment demands.


Courses:
Subject to enrolment demands, availa-
bility of instructors and other pertinent
factors, the following subjects will be
offered:
Automotive Repair and Maintenance.
Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
Machine Shop Practice.
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Carpentry and Joinery.
Welding-Fitting.
Plumbing and Pipe-Fitting.

1-Day Per Wee* Release Courses:
Employers who are interested in having
their employers trained on a one-day per
week basis should contact the Principal of
the Institute

Application Forms:
Application Forms are available at the
Institute between the hours of 10.00 a.m.
and 12.00 noon, Monday through Friday.
Completed Forms should reach the Prin-
cipal not later than August 31, 1973.

Fees:
$10.00 per term.

SOTICE is hereby given that a Session of the
, High Court at Grenada in its Criminal
Jurisdiction will be held at the Court House in the
town of Saint George on Tuesday the 2nd day of
October, 1973, at 9.30 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over to
prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
Jurors or Witnesses are required to give their
personal attendance, and all officers who have
taken inquisitions, depositions, examinations,
recognisances or other papers cognisable by the
Court are required to return the same without
delay to this office.

Essay Compettion on Caribbean Community
for Sixth Formers in Secondary Schools
in Member Coutries and the Bahamas

Topic
"How can the Caribbean Community help to
overcome the economic and social problems of
the English speaking Caribbean?".
Prizes
The Competition will carry the following
prizes:
(a) First Prize
(i) For a student resident in the Windward
Islands, Leeward Islands, Barbados
and Trinidad and Tobago:
A free trip to the Headquarters of the
Regional Secretariat in Guyana,
as the guest of the Secretary-
General, together with a free trip
to Jamaica;
(ii) For a student resident in Guyana:
A free trip to the Headquarters of
the Eastern Caribbean Common
Market (ECCM) Secretariat in
Antigua, together with a free trip
to Jamaica;
(iii) For a student resident in Belize,
Bahamas or Jamaica:
A free trip to the Headquarters of the
Regional Secretariat in Guyana,
as the guest of the Secretary-
General, together with a free trip
to one of the Leeward or Wind-
ward Islands;
(b) Second Prize
(i) For a student resident in any Member
Country of CARIFTA (Except Guyana)
and the Bahamas:
A free trip to the Headquarters of the
Regional Secretariat in Guyana;
(i) For a student resident in Guyana:
A free trip to the Headquarters of
the Eastern Caribbean Common
Market Secretariat in Antigua;
(c) Third Prize
A gift of a set of publications and reading

4. Each entry must be accompanied by a
statement from the Headmaster/Head-
mistress of the School which the student
attends stating the age of the student and
that to the best of his/her knowledge, the
script was written by the student sub-
mitting the entry.

5. The deadline for submission of the scripts
will be 1st October, 1973.

6. The length of the Essay should not exceed
4,000 words.

7. Entries should be submitted in sealed
envelopes addressed to:

Georgetown, Guyana.

8. Entries will be judged by a panel of three (3)
judges to be selected by the Secretary-
General from the Staff of the University
of Guyana and the University of the West
Indies. The decision of the judges will be
final.

Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, one (1) Post-
graduate scholarship in Tropical Agriculture,
tenable at the University of the West Indies,
St. Augustine, Trinidad.

The scholarship begins in October, 1974, and
is of two (2) years duration. If the programme
of studies so requires, the scholarship may be
extended for a longer period.

Publication of Assessment List
TrHE Public is hereby notified that in accord-
ance with section 22 of the Water Supply
Act No. 23 of 1969, Assessment Lists of Water
rate payers have been prepared and fixed.
These lists are exhibited at the entrance to
the Magistrate's Court in each parish, and at
the office of the Central Water Commission,
St. George's.
The Public is also notified that in accordance
with section 33 of the said law the time of pay-
ment of water rates without fines throughout the
State has been extended from the 31st of July,
