WHEREAS the Honourable ERIC MATTHEW GAIRY, Premier of Grenada, is absent from
Grenada.
Now, THEREFORE, by virtue of the power and authority in me vested under the provisions of
section 61(1) of the Constitution of Grenada set out in Schedule 2 to the Grenada Constitution Order,
1967, and acting in accordance with the advice of the Honourable Premier, I hereby authorise you
the said HERBERT JOHN PREUDHOMME as from Thursday the 10th day of May, 1973, to per-
form the functions conferred by the said Constitution on the said Eric Matthew Gairy (other than
the functions conferred by section 61 of the said Constitution) until the Honourable ERIC
MATTHEW GAIRY returns to Grenada or until your authority for so doing is sooner revoked by
me acting as aforesaid.

SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME 1973
SPPLICATIONS are invited under the West
Indies Scholarship Scheme for scholarships
tenable at the University of the West Indies in the
following fields:-
Agriculture
Engineering
Medicine
Natural Sciences
Economics
Education (B. Ed., Dip. Ed., Cert. Ed.)
Applicants must satisfy the University entrance
qualification to the Faculty of their choice. The
requirements in this connection can be had from
Extra-Mural Department, Marryshow House.

Ministry of Health and Welfare

APPLICATIONS are invited from suitable
qualified persons for appointment to the
abovementioned post which will become vacant
in June, 1973.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should be fully Registered Medical
Practitioners with-
(a) Diploma in Public Health

(b) Not less than ten (10) years' post-
graduate experience including at least
five (5) years' in medical Administra-
tion.
SALARY:
The salary of the posi .A ill be as follows:--
1973-74-$16,560
1974-75-$17,280
1975-76-$18,000.
The salary for 1975-76 will remain in force
until a subsequent revision.
In addition to salary, the successful candidate
will be eligible for a non-pensionable allowance of
20% of salary in lieu of fees.
DUTIES :
(i) The officer will be required to provide
general assistance to the Chief Medical
Officer in the administration of the Health
Services of the Island, with special respon-
sibility for the supervision of organisation
of: -
(a) clinical work at Health Centres;
(b the Public Health and District Nursing
Services;
(c) the District Medical Officer Service;
(d) Maternity and District Hospitals.
(ii) Such other duties of an administrative
nature as the Minister of Health through
the Chief Medical Officer may direct.
(iii) The officer may also be required to under-
take clinical work in connection with a
Tuberculosis Clinic.
APPOINTMENT :
The appointment which is subject to medical
fitness, may be on agreement terms for a period
of two to three years.

and S.C. 21 (in the case of other applicants) and
full details of the post may be obtained from The

IN THE HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE

'OTICE is hereby given that a Session of the
S High Court of Grenada, in its Criminal
Jurisdiction will be held at the Court House in
the town of Saint George on Tuesday the 5th day
of June, 1973, at 930 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over
to prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
jurors or Witnesses are required to give their per-
sonal attendance, and all officers who have taken
inquisitions, depositions, examinations, recognis-
ances or other papers cognisable by the Court are
required to return the same without delay to this
office.

NOTICE

In the matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance,
Cap. 153.

IT is hereby notified for general information
in pursuance of the power vested in Her
under section 12 of the Land Acquisition Ordi-
nance Cap. 153, the Governor has been pleased
to appoint a Board of Assessment to deal with
all questions and claims relating to the payment of
compensation under this Ordinance and to the
apportionment of such compensation for the lot
of land acquired by the Government of Grenada
from the Grenada Co-operative Nutmeg Associa-
tion the declaration of which acquisition was
published in the Government Gazette on July 6,
1968 and July 13, 1968.

The Board is constituted of:-
(a) The Honourable Justice ERIC BISHOP,
Puisne Judge of the High Court,
Chairman of the Boad;
(b) Honourable R. C. P. MOORE, J.P. the
member pointedd by the Governor;
and
(c) MR. DUDLEY FERGUSON, the member
nominated by the Grenada Co-opera-
tive Nutmeg Association.
The lot of land in respect of which compensa-
tion is to be assessed described in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE

All that lot of land containing by admeasure-
ment 19,620 sq. ft., situate at the Carenage in the
town of St. George, in the State of Grenada owned

and bounded as follows:-
On the north by lands of Mr. James Lashley

IT is hereby notified for general information that,
in pursuance of the power vested in Her under
the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153), The
Governor acting in accordance with the advice
of the Cabinet of the State of Grenada has been
pleased to appoint Mr. Raymond I. Millet to be
the Authorised Officer for the purpose of the
acquisition of a lot of land mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto:--

All that lot, piece or parcel of land known as
Springs Estate situate in the parish of St. Andrew
containing by estimation 206 acres more or less
and believed to be owned by or under the control
of Mr. Frederick R. Harford or Messrs. R. M.
Bhola and Alfred Baptiste.

Messrs. R- M. Bhola and Alfred Baptiste-
is to be acquired for a public purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND
,(S)PCOND PUBLICATION)
WHEREAS it is provided in effect by section 3
of the Land Acquisition Ordinance, (Cap. 153) of
the Revised Laws of Grenada that if the Gover-
nor acting in accordance with the advice of
the Cabinet of the State of Grenada considers that
any land should be acquired for a public purpose
She may cause a declaration to that effect to be
made:
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor
acting as aforesaid that the land mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto should be
acquired for a public purpose, to wit, for the pur-
pose of establishing a peasant Agricultural Co-
operative.
Now, THEREFORE, it is hereby declared by the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice
of The Cabinet of the State of Grenada that
upon the Second Publication of this declaration
in the Gazette, the land mentioned and described
in the Schedule hereto shall be acquired for
the abovementioned purpose and shall vest
absolutely in the Crown.

N accordance with sections 25 and 27 of the Nutmeg Industry Ordinance, NOTICE is given
that the biannual statutory General Meeting of the above Association will be held on Thursday,
24th May, 1973, at the C.S.A. Centre, St. George's, commencing at 9.00 a.m., and accord-
ingly Area Meetings were held for the purpose of discussing the undermentioned Agenda and electing
