NOTICE

APPLICATIONS are invited for a post of
Junior Technical Officer (Instruments) at the
Caribbean Meteorological Institute, Barbados.
The successful candidate will be responsible,
after a period of on-the-job training, and, under
supervision, for the maintenance and repair of a
wide range of meteorological instruments, e.g.
temperature, humidity, wind, rainfall and solar
radiation recorders, barometers, thermometers,
etc. He will be stationed at the Institute at
Husbands, Barbados but will be required to under-
take, as part of his duties, frequent travel
throughout the Caribbean to carry out inspection
and repair work.
The successful candidate will have acquired '0'"
level passes in Mathematics and/or Physics and
English Language and should have qualifications
at least equivalent to the City Guilds 'O' level
(Instrumentation).
Applications should be addressed to the Prin-
cipal, Caribbean Meteorological Institute, P.O.
Box 130, Bridgetown, Barbados and should
reach him not later than 30th April, 1973.

OTICE is hereby given that a Session of the
High Court of Grenada, in its Criminal
Jurisdiction will be held at the Court House in
the town of Saint George on Tuesday the 5th day
of June, 1973, at 9.30 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over
to prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
furors or Witnesses are required to give their per-
sonal attendance, and all officers who have taken
inquisitions, depositions, examinations, recognis-
ances or other papers cognisable by the Court are
required to return the same without delay to this
office.

NOTICE
In the Matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153)

IT is hereby notified for general information
that in pursuance of the powers vested in Her
under the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153),
the Governor acting in accordance with the advice
of the Cabinet of the State of Grenada has been
pleased to appoint Mr. Raymond I. Millet to be
the Authorised Officer for the purpose of the
acquisition of a lot of land mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto:-
SCHEDULE
All that lot, piece or parcels of land being a
portion of "Florence Residential Gardens" com-
prising lots 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46 and an area
known as "Flamboyant Park" formerly part of
Grand Anse Estates Ltd. in the parish of St.
George and containing by estimation 3 acres more
or less. The said lot of land is bounded on all sides
by a road and is believed to be owned by or under
the control of the beneficiaries of the estate of the
late S. A. Francis.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND

(SECOND PUBLICATION)

W HEREAS it is provided inter alia by Sec-
tion 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153) of the Revised Laws of Grenada that
if the Governor acting in accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose She
may cause a declaration to that effect to be
made:

Now, therefore, it is considered by the Gov-
ernor acting as aforesaid that the lot of land
mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto
should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
for the establishment of a public recreational
centre.

Registrar and Pro-Registrar; Caribbean
Examinations Council

THE Caribbean Examinations Council (a Body
formed and financed by the Governments of
the Commonwealth Caribbean) invites applica-
tions for the post of Registrar to be based in the
Administrative Headquarters and Eastern Zone
Operations Centre in Barbados, and Pro-Registrar
to be based in the Operations Centre for the
Western Zone located in Jamaica.
Applications from persons already employed
in the Public Service will also be considered.
The Council's task is to introduce a new system
of Examinations designed for the special needs
of the Area. This includes the responsibility of
-stablishing curricula, designing syllabuses and
conducting examinations and awarding Certifi-
cates and Diplomas on the results of the
examinations conducted throughout the Area,
including examinations conducted at the request
Af any Member Governments.
The Registrar and Pro-Registrar will be
directly responsible for the establishment of the
two Centres. They will work closely with the
Examinations Committee of the Council and with
the National Committees established in each of the
sixteen Participating Countries. They will be in
immediate responsibility to the Administrative
and Finance Committee of the Council, and
through the Chairman of the Council, to the full
Council itself. Salaries and allowances based on
qualifications and experience will be as follows:-

will be payable to both posts. Officers appointed
on contract will receive a 20% gratuity of basic
salary. Passages for officers and family up to a
maximum of EC $3,000 or J $1,250 and freight
and other expenses for personal and household
effects, not exceeding EC $2,000 or J. $833.33 are
payable to officers recruited overseas. Contracts
will be for a period of three years in the first
instance, subject to review and possibly renewal.
The successful applicants, who must be holders
of appropriate academic or professional qualifi-
cations, will be responsible for the establishment
and subsequent operation of the respective Centres
and for the conduct of examinations as decided
by the Council.


A knowledge of West Indian Education System-
and Examinations procedures would be an asset
but the successful applicants must be prepared to,
undergo training as required.
The posts will require tact, diplomacy, organ-
isational ability and experience in Examinations
Administration, and a willingness to travel among
the various territories served by respective
operational Centres.
