STAFF VACANCIES

Registrar and Pro-Registrar; Caribbean
Examinations Council

THE Caribbean Examinations Council (a Body
Formed and financed by the Governments of
the Commonwealth Caribbean) invites applica-
tions for the post of Registrar to be based in the
Administrative Headquarters and Eastern Zone
Operations Centre in Barbados, and Pro-Registrar
to be based in the Operations Centre for the
,Western Zone located in Jamaica.
Applications from persons already employed
in the Public Service will also be considered.
The Council's task is to introduce a new system
of Examinations designed for the special needs
of the Area. This includes the responsibility of
establishing curricula, designing syllabuses and
conducting examinations and awarding Certifi-
cates and Diplomas on the results of the
examinations conducted throughout the Area,
including examinations conducted at the request
3f any Member Governments.
The Registrar and Pro-Registrar will be
directly responsible for the establishment of the
two Centres. They will work closely with the
Examinations Committee of the Council and with
the National Committees established in each of the
sixteen Participating Countries. They will be in
immediate responsibility to the Administrative
and Finance Committee of the Council, and
through the Chairman of the Council, to the full
Council itself. Salaries and allowances based on
qualifications and experience will be as follows:-
Registrar ... EC $24,000-

Pro-Registrar J. $ 9,000-
$10,000


Allowances- Housing ... EC $4,800 or
J. $2,000
per annum
Entertainment EC $1,800 or
J. $750
per annum
will be payable to both posts. Officers appointed
on contract will receive a 20% gratuity of basic
salary. Passages for officers and family up to a
maximum of EC $3,000 or J $1,250 and freight
and other expenses for personal and household
effects, not exceeding EC $2,000 or J. $833.33 are
payable to officers recruited overseas. Contracts
will be for a period of three years in the first
instance, subject to review and possibly renewal.
The successful applicants, who must be holders
of appropriate academic or professional qualifi-
cations, will be responsible for the establishment
and subsequent operation of the respective Centres
and for the conduct of examinations as decided
by Ihe Council.
A knowledge of West Indian Education System
and Examinations procedures would be an asset
but the successful applicants must be prepared to
undergo training as required.
The posts will require tact, diplomacy, organ-
isational ability and experience in Examinations
Administration, and a willingness to travel among
the various territories served by respective
Operational Centres.

$3,600 x 180-$4,420 x 240-$6,240 per annum,
and is subject to revision with effect from 1st
April, 1973.

The appointment will be on contract agreement
for two to two and a half years (2-2-) years. A
gratuity of 20% of basis salary is payable on the
satisfactory completion of agreement of annually
at the option of the officer.

Vacant posts of Town Planner/Assistant Town
Planner Town and Country Planning Office

Applications are invited from suitably quali-
fied persons for appointment to the above
mentioned posts.
Qualifications:
Candidates for the post of Town Planner should
be Associate Member of Town Planning Insti-
tute (A.M.T.P.I.) or possess an equivalent
qualification.
Graduates in Town Planning, or a related field
such as Architecture, Engineering, Surveying,
Geography, Economics or Sociology will be con-
sidered for appointment to the grade of Assistant
Town Planner.
Salary:
(a) *The salary scale for the post of Town
Planner is $7,500x 300-$8,400 360
-$9,840 x 480-$10,800 per annum,
and $6,480 X 240-$7,200 x 300-$8,400
X 360 $9,840 X 480 $10,800 per
annum for the post of Assistant Town
Planner. The point of entry in the scale
will depend on qualifications and ex-
perience.


(b) Officers on agreement will be eligible
for a gratuity of 20% of basis salary
on the satisfactory completion of their
engagement, or annually at the option
of the Officer.
*The salary scale is subject to an upward re-
vision with effect from 1st April, 1973.
Duties:
Successful candidates will be required to work
either in administering or development control or
in the newly-created planning and research sec-
tion.
Appointment:
The appointment can either be on permanent
and pensionable basis or on agreement for three
years.
(a) Pensionable Officer: Appointment is
subject to medical fitness and a proba-
tionary period of two years. Under the
Widows and Children Pensions Act,
salary is subject to a deduction of 2%
per annum.
(b) Agreement Officer: If an officer on
agreement terms is a contributor to an
approved superannuation scheme the
employer's share will be paid by this
Government in the first instance and
later recovered from the officers
gratuity.
Allowances:
The appointed officer will be eligible for a car
loan of $4,320 in the first instance and subsequent
loans after periods of three years not in excess of
$3,600. Loans are interest free and are repayable
in equal monthly instalments over a given period
and not exceeding five years.

Governor acting in accordance with the advice
of the Cabinet of the State of Grenada has been
pleased to appoint Mr. Raymond I. Millet to be
the Authorised Officer for the purpose of the
acquisition of a lot of land mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto:-

All that lot, piece or parcel of land containing
30 acres more or less being a portion of Mt. Nesbit
Estate situate in the parish of St. John believed to

any land should be acquired for a public purpose

acting as aforesaid that the land mentioned and

erection of the cold storage fisheries project.

UNDER THE TAXES MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE (CAP. 290) APPEALS AGAINST
ASSESSMENTS FOR LAND AND HOUSE TAX 1973



TAKE NOTICE that a copy of the Tax Roll for each District is available for inspection by the
public at the appropriate District Revenue Office and t-at the days and places fixed by each
Magistrate for the hearing of appeals against assessments are as follows:-

All Taxes chargeable under the Taxes Management Ordinance must be paid by 30th November,
in the year of assessment.

The attention of the Public is drawn to Section 14 (1) of the said Ordinance which states that
any person who shall become the owner of any Land or House, shall, within thirty (30) days after
he has become the owner, give notice in writing thereof to the Tax Officer.
