BENJAMIN as from Wednesday the 16th day of August, 1972, to perform the functions of the
office of Minister for Education, Culture and Social Affairs until the Honourable CYNTHIA
BERNADETTE GAIRY returns to Grenada or until your authority for so doing is sooner revoked
by me acting as aforesaid.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan
United Kingdom Award-1973

APPLICATIONS are invited for Common-
wealth Scholarships tenable in the United
Kingdom from September, 1973.
Most of these awards are for postgraduate
study. A few awards are also available at under-
graduate level if the programme of studies the
applicant wishes to follow is not available in his
country. Scholarships will not be awarded to
candidates who already hold a Ph.D. degree, nor
will they be given for medical or dental degrees,
or for clinical training.
The scholarships are open to men and women
who will not have reached their thirty-fifth birth-
day by 1st October, 1973.
Further information may be obtained from the
Chief Education Officer, Ministry of Education
and Culture.
Applicants should supply the following infor-
mation:-
1. Age
2. School attended
3. Qualifications
4. Occupation
5. Field of study.

Announcement of Courses



TrHE Grenada Technical and Vocational Insti-
tute, a new government training institution
sited at Tanteen, announces its provisional
programmes proposed for the school year to
commence in September, 1972.
1. Full-Time Day Programmes.
2. 1-Day Per Week Release Programmes.
3. Part-Time Evening Programmes.

Provisional Courses and Minimum Requiremnts:

1. Two-Year Technician Courses:
Two (2) G.C.E. 'O' level passes (English
Language plus Mathematics or a Science
Subject).
2. (a) Two-Year Diploma Craft or Trade
Courses:
(b) 1-Day per week Release Courses:
School Leaving Certificate or if aged
18 or over, recommendation of present
or intended employer plus achieve-
ment test.
3. Foreman and Supervisors Courses:
Recommendation of employer and evidence
of applicants position or attainment.
4. Evening Courses:
Requirements subject to enrollment de-
mands.

Courses:
The following technical subjects will be offered,
subject to enrollment demands and the avail-
ability of an instructor:--
Automotive Repairs and Maintenance
Machine Shop Practice
Welding-Fitting
Electrical Installation and Maintenance
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Carpentry and Joinery
Plumbing and Pipe Fitting
Trowel Trades
Ceramics.

1-Day Release Programmes:
Employers who might be interested in having
their employees trained or further trained on a
1-day a week release basis, should contact the
Principal-Designate, Grenada Technical and
Vocational Institute, Tanteen.

Fees: $10.00 per term.

T is hereby notified for general information that,
in pursuance of the power vested in Him under
the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153), The
acting Governor acting in accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet of the State of Grenada has
been pleased to anpo;int Mr. Raymond I. Millet
to be the Authorised Office for the purpose of
the acquisition of the two lots of land mentioned
and described in the Schedule hereto:-

All those lots, pieces or parcels of land lots A
and B situate at La Poterie in the parish of St.


Andrew believed to be portions of the pro-
perties of Mr. Franco Thomas (Lot A) and Mr.
Braveman September and Mrs. Linda Collimore
(Lot B). Lot A contains by estimation 2 Roods
and is bounded on one side by a public bye-way
leading to the sea, on another side by the sea and
on the other sides by remaining lands of the said
Franco Thomas and land of Braveman September
and Linda Collimore. Lot B contains by estima-
tion 1 Rood 15 Poles and is bounded on one side
by lands of Franco Thomas, the sea and remain-
ing lands of Braveman September and Linda
Collimore.

W HEREAS it is provided inter alia by Sec-
tion 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153) of the Revised Laws of Grenada that
if the acting Governor acting in accordance with
the advice of the Cabinet considers that any land
should be acquired for a public purpose He may
cause a declaration to that effect to be made:
Now, THEREFORE, it is considered by the
acting Governor acting as aforesaid that the lots
of land mentioned and described in the Schedule
hereto should be acquired for a public purpose,
to wit, for the use of the public generally for
storing gravel collected from the sea.
SCHEDULE
All those lots, pieces or parcels of land lots A
and B situate at La Poterie in the parish of St.

NOTICE

Vacant post of Engineer
Seawell Airport Development Project, Barbados


A PPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
qualified persons for appointment to the
above post which is temporary.

Qualifications:
A degree in Engineering from a recognized
University plus four (4) years minimum approved
experience or Membership of either the Institute
of Structural or Civil Engineers (M.I. Struct. E
or M.I.C.E.) or membership of other recognized
professional Body.
Automatic advancement beyond the Qualifica-
tion Bar permitted on the possession of the
Membership of any of the above bodies.

Salary:
The salary of the post is in the scale $6,480 x
240-7200 (Q.B) 7500 x 300-8400 x 360-
9840 x 480-10800.

Duties:
To assume responsibility for the supervision
and construction of Civil and Structural Engineer-
ing works carried out at Seawell International
Airport, including the upkeep of existing facilities.

Appointment:
The appointment will be on agreement for a
period of two (2) years. If the officer is a contri-
butor to an approved Superannuation Scheme,
the employer's share will be paid by this Govern-
ment. A gratuity of 20% of basic salary is
payable on the satisfactory completion of agree-
ment or annually at the option of the officer.

High Court at Grenada, in its Criminal
Jurisdiction will be held at the Court House in
the town of Saint George on Tuesday the 3rd day
of October, 1972, at 9.30 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over
to prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
Jurors or Witnesses are required to give their
personal attendance, and all officers who have
taken inquisitions, depositions, examinations,
recognisanoes or other papers cognisable by the
Court are required to return the same without
delay to this office.
