Publication of Assessment List

W ITH reference to notice appearing in Gazette
No. 25 of Saturday 1st April, 1972 the
public is hereby notified that in accordance with
Section 26 of the Water Supply Act No. 23 of
1969, the Assessment List 1972 in respect of
water rates for the several parishes as finally
determined may be seen at the office of the
Central Water Commission and at the District
Revenue Offices of the several parishes between
the hours of 8.30 in the morning and 4.00 in the
afternoon, Mondays to Fridays, and 8.30 to
12.00 noon on Saturdays during the period
1st May to 31st July, 1972, and that attendance
will be given during the time and places men-
tioned for the purpose of receiving the rates and
charges fixed by the Board.

IN pursuance of Section 21 (2) of the above
Ordinance, I hereby give notice that a copy
of the plan and report of Lawrence Benoit, a
licensed land surveyor, of a surey made on the
17th April, 1972, under the direction of the
Director of Surveys at the request of MR.
OSWALD MATTHEW for the purposes of establish-
ing the boundaries of a portion of land situate
at St. James in the parish of Saint Andrew the
ownership of which is being disputed by OSWALD
MATTHEW and WELLINGTON LALITE, have been
lodged at the Chambers of the Chief Registrar of
the West Indies Associated States Supreme
Court at Grenada.

NOTICE

Two-Week August Induction Course
for Intending Teachers

N Induction Course for all young people who
wish to become teachers in the primary and
secondary schools of the State will be held during
the two weeks commencing 21st August, 1972,
at Grenada Teachers' College.
The minimum qualification for appointment to
teaching is School Leaving Certificate or one
G.C.E. O'level subject. Students who sat the 1972
School Leaving Examination or who will sit the
1972 Cambridge Examinations may apply.
Applications should be addressed to the Prin-
cipal, Grenada Teachers' College to reach him not
later than 29th July, 1972.

In the matter of a Declaration by the Governor
that a portion of land part of Nonpareil
Estate in the parish of St. Mark containing
by estimation 15 acres more or less.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND

(SECOND PUBLICATION)
WHEREAS it is provided inter alia by Section 3
of the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) of
the Revised Laws of Grenada that if the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice of
the Cabinet considers that any land should be
acquired for a public purpose She may cause a
declaration to that effect to be made:
Now, THEREFORE it is considered by the
Governor acting as aforesaid that the land men-
tioned and described in the Schedule hereto should
be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
establishing a Land Settlement Scheme.

SCHEDULE
All that portion, of land part of Nonpareil
Estate in the Parish of St. Mark containing by
estimation 15 acres more or less and believed to
be owned by or under the control of MR. DUDLEY
L. Ferguson. The said lot of land includes the
portion known as "The Pasture". It lies between
the Western Main Road on the West, the Groom's
house on the South and the remaining lands of
house on the South and the remaining lands of
Nonpareil Estate on the East and North.

TIHE Grenada Technical and Vocational Insti-
Stute, a new government training institution
sited at Tanteen, announces its provisional
programmes proposed for the school year to
commence in September, 1972.
1. Full-Time Day Programmes.
2. 1-Day Per Week Release Programmes.
3. Part-Time Evening Programmes.

Provisional Courses and Minimum Reqniremnts:

1. Two-Year Technician Courses:
Two (2) G.C.E. '0' level passes (English
Language plus Mathematics or a Science
Subject).
2. (a) Two-Year Diploma Craft or Trade
Courses:
(b) 1-Day per week Release Courses:
School Leaving Certificate or if aged
18 or over, recommendation of present
or intended employer plus achieve-
ment test.
3. Foreman and Supervisors Courses:
Recommendation of employer and evidence
of applicants position or attainment.
4. Evening Courses:
Requirements subject to enrollment de-
mands.

subject to enrollment demands and the avail-

Automotive Repairs and Maintenance
Machine Shop Practice
Welding-Fitting
Electrical Installation and Maintenance
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Carpentry and Joinery
Plumbing and Pipe Fitting
Trowel Trades
Ceramics.

1-Day Release Programmes:
Employers who might be interested in having
their employees trained or further trained on a
1-day a week release basis, should contact the
Principal-Designate, Grenada Technical and
Vocational Institute, Tanteen.

Fees: $10.00 per term.

Vacant Temporary post of Agricultural Officer/
Senior Agricultural Officer
Ministry of Agriculture, Science and Technology

APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
1 qualified persons for appointment to the
above-mentioned post, which is temporary.

Qualifications:
The minimum qualification required for
appointment to the post, is a degree in Agriculture
from a recognized University or other approved
Institution. Applicants possessing a Master's or
other higher degree or post-graduate diploma in
an approved subject would be considered for entry
to the Senior Agricultural Officer's grade.
Salary:
The salary of the post is as follows:'
(a) Senior Agriculural Officer is in the
scale-$8,760 x 360-$9,840 x 480-
$10,800.
(b) Agricultural Officer is in the scale-
$6,480 x 240-$7,200 x 300-$8,400 x
360-$9,840 x 480-$10,800.
Duties:
(i) To consider any methods which may
lead to better physical soil conditions
for any areas capable of growing
economic crops;
(ii) To study rehabilitation processes and
techniques in the Soil Conservation
Districts, particularly in reformed
areas of high salt and soil content and
on Joes River muds;
(iii) To study methods of improving soil
structure and physical conditions of
heavy soils of the St. George's Valley;
(iv) To consider methods of improving
moisture h o 1 d i n g properties of
draughty soils in the dry costal areas;
(v) To undertake a systematic series of
studies on the effects of burning of
sugar cane on soil structure with a
view of taking remedial action;
Any such other duties as may be assigned
from time to time by the Chief Agricultural
Officer.
Appointment:
Appointment will be on contract agreement
for two (2) years.

Details regarding the vacant post of Assistant
Information Officer, Public Relations Oi ce,
Barbados


A PPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
.A qualified persons for appointment to the
abovementioned post.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess at least three sub-
jects, including English Language at Ordinary
Level of the General Certificate of Education or
its equivalent and experience in Radio, Jour-
nalism, Printing. Television, Commercial Art or
Visual Aids or any combination of the above.
Duties:
To assist Information Officers in any matters
assigned to them and particularly those associated
with press, publications, radio, television, film
production and operation of the Mobile Cinema.
Duties will be divided into the following
categories:
(a) Press and Publications;
(b) Radio and TV;
(c) Film Production and Mobile Cinema.
but officers may be called on to work in any
medium.
Appointment:
The appointment is on a permanent and pen-
sionable basis, subject to medical fitness and two
years' probation. Under the Widows and Child-
ren Pensions Act, salary is subject to a deduction
of 2% per annum.
Salary:
The salary of the post is in the scale $6,000 x
240-7,200.
The point of entry in the scale will depend on
qualifications and experience.
Quarters:
Quarters are not provided.
Leave:
Vacation Leave:
(a) Officers in receipt of salaries of
$7,200 ped annum and over-42 days
a year: at least 14 days must be
taken annually or lost. 6 of the
14 days compulsory leave must be
taken as the officer desires.
(b) Officers in receipt of salaries less than
$7,200 per annum-30 days a year of
which 14 must be taken annually or
lost.
Sick Leave:
21 days sick leave a year.

Qualifications:
Applicants must 'be fully Registered Medical
Pracutoners.
Salary:
Salary of the post is in the salary scale
$8400 x 360-9840. Officers on agreement will
be eligible for a gratuity of 20% of basic salary
on the satisfactory completion of engagement, or
annually at the option of the officer.
Duties:
The duties are those usually performed by a
Senior House Officer in general hospital. The
officer willfbe attached to one or other of the
Departments of tne Hospital, but will be required
to serve in the Casualty Department for a period
of not more than three months in each twelve
months of service. He shall be responsible
through the senior staff of his department and
the Hospital Director to the Ministry of Health
for the proper performance of his duties.
Appointment:
Appointment which is subject to medical fit-
ness, is on agreement for a period of one to three
years. If the Officer is a contributor to an
approved Superannuation Scheme, the employer's
share will be paid in the first instance by Govern-
ment and later recovered from the Officer's
gratuity.
Leave:
Leave is granted as follows:
42 days' vacation leave a year of which
14 must be taken annually or lost. On
completion of Contract, a terminal pay-
ment will be made in lieu of vacation
leave accumulated at the end of the
contract.
Sick Leave:
21 days sick leave a year.
Quarters:
Basically furnished quarters will be provided
at a rental of 6% of salary. There is an annual.
charge payable monthly, for a refrigerator if
provided, of 5 % of the cost.
Passage:
Passages of the officer, wife and children
under the age of 20 years (up to a limit of six
persons) are payable on first appointment and on
satisfactory completion of Contract. The officer
is eligible for a refund of up to $960. (E. C. C)
in accordance with current baggage allowances.
Claims for this refund must be supported by
vouchers.
General:
All Officers are subject to Regulations, Rules,,
Orders and Departmental Instructions which may
be in force from time to time.

of Barbados, and S. C. 21 in the case of other
applicants) should be submitted to the Chief
