Under the Taxes Management Ordinance

NOTICE is hereby given that the Magistrate of
the Southern District will hold a special
session at the Court House, St. George's on
Friday, 24th April, 1970 at 9.00 o'clock in the
forenoon for the purpose of hearing objections to,
and appeals from, the assessments made by
the Tax Officer under the Taxes Management
Ordinance.

Any person desirous of making objections to,
or appealing against an assessment should give

An Act to provide for the incorporation of a body to be
known as the Incorporated Trustees of the Seventh
Day Adventist Church in Grenada.

WHEREAS there has been established in Grenada
a religious organisation known as the Seventh Day
Adventist Church (hereinafter called "the Organisa-
tion") which is associated with and subject to the
control of the General Conference Corporation
of Seventh Day Adventists of Tacoma Park,
Washington D. C. in the United States of America and
the Incorporated Trustees of the Seventh Day Adventist
Church in Trinidad and Tobago of 46 Warren Street in
the City of Port-of-Spain in Trinidad:

AND WHEREAS Pastor Philip Newman Hosten at
present residing at Mount Parnassus in the parish of
Saint George in the island of Grenada, has been super-
intending the activities of the Organisation in Grenada:

AND WHEREAS the Organisation is desirous of
being incorporated in Grenada and the said Philip
Newman Hosten, Vigilant Belfon of Samaritan in the
parish of Saint Patrick and island aforesaid, and
Ralph Gordon Ogilvie of Mount Gay in the parish of
Saint George aforesaid have been asked and are willing
to serve as Trustees of and to hold property for any of
the uses or purposes of the Organisation in Grenada:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the Trustees
for the time being should be incorporated and should
have power to hold lands and other property in trust
for the Organisation:

Be it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the advice and consent of the Senate
and House of Representatives of Grenada, and by the
authority of the same as follows:-


1. This Act may be cited as the


SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH INCOR-

PORATION ACT, 1970.

2. The said Philip Newman Hosten, Vigilant Belfon
and Ralph Gordon Ogilvie, and their successors
in office as trustees of the Seventh Day Adventist
Church shall be and are hereby created a body cor-
porate under the name of "The Incorporated Trustees
of the Seventh Day Adventist Church" (hereinafter
called "the Trustees") and by that name shall have
perpetual succession and also by that name shall and
may sue and be sued in all Courts of Justice in Grenada
and shall have and use a Common Seal which may
from time to time be changed, altered or made anew.

3. The Trustees shall have full power to acquire for
the Organisation by purchase, transfer, exchange,
devise, demise, grant, gift, bequest or otherwise, all
lands or other property of whatsoever nature or kind
in perpetuity or for life or lives or for any term of years,
and also any money, securities for money, goods, or
chattels whatsoever; and to take, hold and enjoy the
same and subject also to the performance of any trust
upon which the said lands or other property, money,
securities for money, goods or chattels may have been
acquired.

4. It shall be lawful for the Trustees, subject to the Trustees
performance of any trust as aforesaid, from time to af proper
time by deed under their seal, to sell or demise, grant,
convey, transfer, exchange, surrender or otherwise
dispose of any lands or other property vested or which
may hereafter be vested in them.

Trustees 5. It shall be lawful for the Trustees subject to the
ay borrow performance of any trust as aforesaid, to borrow
mortgages. money, and for the payment of the same, by deed
under their seal, to give and execute mortgages, charges,
pledges or other securities of their real or personal
property or to make any such arrangement as they
may consider convenient, with such covenants, powers
and provisions as they may think proper.
Execution 6. All deeds and other documents requiring the seal
of deeds and
other of the Trustees shall be sealed with the Common Seal
documents. of the Trustees in the presence of at least two of the
Trustees who shall sign every such deed or other
document to which the said seal is affixed; and such
signing shall be prima facie evidence that the said seal
was duly and properly affixed and that the same is the
lawful seal of the Trustees.

Address for 7. The Trustees shall at all times have a fixed address
in this island for the service of documents on them and
such address shall be registered with the Registrar of
Companies. All documents to be served on the Trustees
may be served by leaving the same at or by sending the
same by registered post to the address so registered.
Saving. 8. Nothing in this Act shall affect or be deemed
to affect the rights of Her Majesty, Her Heirs and
Successors, or of any bodies politic or corporate or of
any other persons except such as are mentioned in this
Act and those claiming by, from or under them.

OBJECTS AND REASONS


The object of this Bill is to provide for the incorporation of a body to be
known as the Incorporated Trustees of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in
Grenada, with power to acquire and to dispose of all kinds of property and for
other related matters.

SECTION 1. Food : There were decreases in the prices of corn flour, instant coffee, and dry pigeon
peas, but these decreases were overbalanced by increases in the prices of fresh beef,
sardines, cooking butter, soda biscuits, tomatoes, oranges split peas, onions, and
garlic. This group index rose by 75 units to 139.19.

SECTION 2. Alcoholic Drinks and Tobacco : This group index remains at 125.74.

SECTION 3. Housing : This group index remains at 130.23

SECTION 4. Fuel and Light : This group index remains at 116.30.

Household and Miscellaneous Items: There was an appreciable increase in the prices
of kerosene stoves, but a slight decrease in the retail price of toothpaste. Consequently
this group index rose by 1.22 units to 124.85.

Clothing and Footwear : Increases in the prices of cotton print and Dan River dress
materials and brassieres caused this group index to rise by 3.89 units to 155.95


SECTION 7. Services : This group index remains at 128.04.

The all items Index for December rose by .8 units to 135.9.
