In the Matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153)
SECOND PUBLICATION

IT is hereby notified for general information that,
in pursuance of the power vested in Her under
the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153), the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice of
the Cabinet of the State of Grenada has been
pleased to appoint MR. R. MILLET, Chief
Technical Officer (Surveys), to be the Authorised
Officer for the purpose of the acquisition of the
lot of land mentioned and described in the
Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

All that lot, piece or parcel of land be'in a
portion of BLACK BAY ESTATE known as
MARIE LOUISE situaute at Concord in the
parish of St. John in the State of Grenada believed
to be owned by or under the control of MR.
W. F. A. BAYNE containing by admeasurement
103 acres 0 roods and 39 poles more or less
bounded on the north by lands of A. Julien, Roy
DeGale, Alston Cadore, Wilfred Sandy, Hewitt
Billy, Raymond Gill, Percival Louison,
A. Chambers, Gordon Nelson, Cuthbert Cadore
and Rupert Aird; on the south by an allowed road

Bayne are to be acquired for a public pur-
pose.
DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND

SECOND PUBLICATION

WHEREAS it is provided in effect by section 3 of
the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) of the
Revised Laws of Grenada that if the Governor
acting in accordance with the advice of the
Cabinet considers that any land should be


acquired for a public purpose She may cause a
declaration to that effect to be made:

AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor
acting as aforesaid that the land mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto should be
acquired for a public purpose, to wit, for the
purpose of establishing a Land Settlement:

Now, THEREFORE, it is hereby declared by the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice of
the Cabinet of the State of Grenada that upon the
Second Publication of this declaration in the
Gazette, the lands mentioned and described in the
Schedule hereto shall be acquired for the above-
mentioned purpose and shall vest absolutely in
the Crown.

AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER declared and
notified that the lands referred to form part of
BLACK BAY ESTATE in the parish of St. John
in the State of Grenada and are about 103 acres
3 roods and 39 poles in area more particularly
described in the Schedule hereto:

NOTICE

VACANT POSTS OF FOREST GUARD

APPLICATIONS are invited for two (2) vacant
posts of Forest Guard in the Forestry Divi-
sion of the Premier's Ministry. The posts carry a
salary in the scale of $900.00x36-$1,080.00x
60-$1,380.00. Free uniforms are also provided.
2. the appointees will be responsible to the Chief
Technical Officer (Forestry and Lands) for the
proper performance of their duties. These duties
will be defined from time to time and will include
the general supervision of agricultural work,
nursery and field operations, the sale of forest
products, the keeping of records and the control
of labour employed in the forest.
3. The minimum qualification is the Primary
School Leaving Certificate. Preference would,
however, be given to applicants who possess the
G.C.E. "O" Level Certificate, with credits in
English, Mathematics and Science subjects.
4. The appointees will be required to work and
reside in any part of the territory. Free quarters
may be provided, if available.
5. Applications should be addressed to the Secre-
tary, Public Service Commission, St. George's,
Grenada, and should be in the handwriting of the
candidate. Applicants must state age, schools
attended and standard of certificate obtained,
experience, present and past employment and
emolumets of the post in which they are at present
or last employed. Applicants should attach at
least two (2) testimonials.
6. Applications should reach the above address
not later than 15th March, 1970.

Tenders for items of uniforms Customs and
Excise Department

T ENDERS are invited for the supply of any or
all of the following items to the Customs and
Excise Department.
Twelve dozens white uniform shirts;
One hundred yards, Gabadine shade and one
thousand yards of American khaki drill;
making one hundred and twenty khaki uniform
shirts and pants for Preventive Guards. Further
specification may be obtained from the Com-
ptroller of Customs.
Tenders in sealed envelopes marked;
"Tenders for Customs uniforms" must be
addressed to the Chairman, Tenders Boards,
Premier's Office and must reach him not later
than 1st April, 1970 at 4.00 p.m.
Government does not bind itself to accept the
lowest or any tenders.

Friday, 24th April, 1970 at 9.00 o'clock in the

and appeals from, the assessments made by
the Tax Officer under the Taxes Management
Ordinance.
Any person desirous of making objections to,
or appealing against an assessment should give
notice in writing to the Magistrate, not later than
30th March, 1970 of his intention.

WTHEREAS it is provided by section 26 of the
Cocoa Industry Ordinance that other
general meetings of the Association may be con-
vened by the Board and shall be convened (inter
a:ia) upon the request in writing of twenty-five
members of the Association appearing on the last
register of members.
And Whereas on the 30th day of January, 1970
such request as aforesaid was made to the Board
by not less than twenty-five such members as
aforesaid.
And Whereas it is provided by section 27 of
the said Ordinance that if the Board sha.l refuse
to convene a general meeting of the Association
upon request as aforesaid and although not
refusing shall neglect to convene such meeting for
fifteen days after receipt of such request as afore-
said, a general meeting of the Association may be
convened by the members making such request.
And Whereas the Board by letter dated 5th day
of February, 1970 addressed to the undersigned
has refused to convene such meeting and up to
the date of this notice has not convened such
meeting.
Now We the undersigned hereby give Notice
that a general meeting of the Association shall be
held at the C.S.A. Centre, Tanteen, St. George's
at 10 o'clock a.m. on Thursday the second day

SECTION 1. Food : There were increases in the retail prices of corned beef, canned salmon, flour,
tomatoes, dry pigeon peas, sugar, instant coffee and pineapple juice. Consequently,
this group index rose by 2.90 units to 138.44.

SECTION 2. Alcoholic Drinks and Tobacco : This group index remains at 125.74.


SECTION 3.


Housing : Increases in the retail prices of galvanised sheets and pitch pine caused
this group index to rise by .14 units to 130.23.


SECTION 4. Fuel and Light : This group index remains at 116.30.


SECTION 5.

Household and Miscellaneous Items: Increases in the prices of chairs, beds, kerosene
stoves, cooking utensils and Eno Fruit Salts, caused this group index to rise by 2.49
units to 123.63.

Clothing and Footwear : There were increases in the retail prices of wool and part
wool material, Coles black leather shoes, cotton print dress material, Dan River dress.
material, and silk half slips, As a result, this group index rose by 11.16 units to 152.04.


SECTION 7. Services : This group index remains at 128.04.


The all items Index for November rose by 2.7 units to 135.1.
