In the Town of Saint George

MONDAY, 9th FEBRUARY, 1970

'Jour Ouvert' -Old Mass Celebrations

BY virtue of the powers vested in me under
section 80 (1) of the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic Ordinance, Cap. 194, Page 2556 of
the Revised Laws of Grenada, Vol. II, I hereby
order that on Monday, 9th February, 1970,
between the hours of 5.00 a.m. and 8.30 a.m., no
motor vehicle shall park or wait on the under-
mentioned streets which will be closed to
vehicular traffic: -
1. St. John's Street from its junction with
Grenville Street to its junction with Mel-
ville Street.
2. Melville Street from its junction with
Maloney Street to its junction with Cross
and Bruce Streets.
3. Bruce Street from its junction with Melville
and Cross Streets to its junction with
Sendall Tunnel (the western entrance).
4. Sendall Tunnel from its junction with Bruce
Street to its junction with Monckton
Street. (the eastern entrance).


5. Cross Street from its junction with Melville
and Bruce Streets to its junction with
Halifax and Gore Streets.
6. Gore Street from its junction with Halifax
and Cross Streets to its junction with
Grenvil'e Street.
7. Grenville Street from its junction with Gore
Street to its junction with St. John's
Street.
8. Halifax Street from its junction with Church

CARNIVAL TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

In the Town of St. George, Tuesday
10th February, 1970

BY virtue of the powers vested in me under
section 80(1) of the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic Ordinance, Cap. 194, Page 2556 of
the Revised Laws of Grenada, Vol. II., I hereby
order that on Tuesday, 10th February, 1970.
between the hours of 1.00 p.m. and 7 p.m., the
undermentioned streets in the town of Saint
George will be closed to all vehicular traffic and
during that period no vehicle shall travel on, or
park on these streets:
(a) Melville Street from its junction with
Maloney Street to its junction with Cross
and Bruce Streets;
(b) Melville Street from its junction with
Maloney Street to its junction with
Melville Street;
(c) Bruce Street from its junction with
Melville and Cross Streets to its junction
with Sendall Tunnel; (The Western
entrance);
(d) Sendall Tunnel from its junction with
Bruce Street to its junction with Monckton
Street; (The eastern entrance);
(e) Cross Street from its junction with
Melville and Bruce Streets to its junction
with Halifax and Gore Streets;
(f) Gore Street from its junction with Halifax
and Cross Streets to its junction with
Grenville Street;
(g) Grenville Street from its junction with
Gore Street to its junction with St. John's
Street.
(h) Halifax Street from its junction with
Church and Young Streets to its junction
with St. John's;
(i) Granby Street from its junction with
Melville Street to its junction with
Grenville Street;
(j) Hillsborough Street from its junction with
Melville Street to its junction with
Grenville Street.
2. All trucks conveying bananas to the St.
George's Pier from the St. George's Road (other-
wise called the Western Road) and the Grand
Etang Road will travel along River Road, Tempe
Road to Mt. Helicon Gap, then to Lowthers
Lane, Tanteen Road to the St. George's Pier.
3. PARKING-BUSES, TAXIS AND OTHER
MOTOR VEHICLES:
Vehicles will be permitted to park as
under: -
(i) Melville Street between its junction with
River Road and the St. George's Road
and junction with Maloney Street; for-
Buses, taxis and all other motor vehicles
travelling to the town of Saint George
from: -

Carnival Pageant at Queen's Park

BY virtue of the powers vested in me under
section 80 (1) of the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic Ordinance Cap. 194, Page 2556 of
the Revised Laws of Grenada, Vpl. II. I hereby
order that on Monday, 9th February, 1970,
between the hours of 12.00 noon and 7.00 p.m.
all motor vehicles shall park or proceed on or
along the undermentioned roads as directed
hereunder: -
(a) PARKING:
Motor Vehicles will be permitted to PARK
ON THE SEASIDE ONLY of the St
George's Road (otherwise called the
Western Road), between its junction with
the Queen's Park Road at the Green
Bridge, and its junction with the Power-
Station Road at the pumping station.
(b) NO PARKING:
Motor Vehicles will not be permitted to
park or wait on River Road between its
junction with the Wooden Bridge, and its
junction with Melville Street and the St.
George's Road at the Round About.
(c) ONE WAY TRAFFIC:
All Motor Vehicles shall proceed to Queen's
Park in a one way direction from the
junction of the St George's Road (other-
wise called the Western Road) along the
Queen's Park Road to the Wooden Bridge
with its junction with River Road.
No Motor Vehicles will be permitted to
enter Queen's Park at the Wooden Bridge
from its junction with River Road.

(d) NO ENTRY:

No Vehicle shall turn right at the Wooden
Bridge from Queen's Park into River
Road.

(e) NO ENTRY:
Vehicles shall proceed in a one way direc-
tion down Cemetry Hill and shall not turn
right into RIVER ROAD.

(f) ONE WAY TRAFFIC:
River Road from its junction with the
Wooden Bridge at Queen's Park all
Vehicles proceeding to St. George's shall
do so via River Road, Tempe Road to
Lucas Street.

(g) NO ENTRY:
Vehicles proceeding from Mt. Gay, Beau-
lieu, Snug Corner, along the Grand Etang
Road shall proceed to St. George's via
Tempe, to Lucas Street

CARNIVAL

Use of Vehicles Licensed as Goods Vehicles
for the Conveyance of Passengers



(i) In the interest of public safety the attention
of the owners of goods vehicles is directed
to section 15 (5) of the Motor Vehicles
"-d Road Traffic Ordinance, Cap. 194,
Page 2531 of the Revised Laws of
Grenada, Vol. II., which provides for the
grant of permission to enable a vehicle
licensed as a goods vehicle to be used
as a private motor car for the conveyance
of passengers WITHOUT HIRE OR
REWARD.

(ii) Owners of goods vehicles intending to use
them for the purpose of conveying passen-
gers during Carnival are advised to apply
to the Inspector of Motor Vehicles, Traffic
Department, St. George's, for the necessary
permission to do so. This will be given
only after inspection of the vehicle, when
a certificate will be issued, and on produc-
tion of a policy of insurance in respect of
third party risks which policy complies
with the requirements of the Motor
Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks)
Cap. 195, Vol. II of the Revised Laws of
Grenada.


(lii) Owners and drivers of goods vehicles are
hereby warned that the carriage of passen-
gers in goods vehicles contrary to provi-
sions of the Motor Vehicles and Road
Traffic Ordinance will render them liable
to prosecution.
