appoint you the said LEO VICTOR DE GALE to be Deputy Governor of the
Associated State of Grenada and in that capacity to perform on my behalf the
functions of the office of Governor of the said State from Wednesday the 10th day
of September, 1969, until my return to Grenada unless such appointment be sooner
revoked.

Grenada at Government House in the said State this 10th day of

NOTICE

Residential Training Course in Social Work

THE Extra Mural Department of the University
of the West Indies is offering a 4-month
Course in the Principles and Practice of Social
Work. The Course will be held at the Social
Welfare Training Centre, University of the West
Indies, Mona, from 5th Panuary to 25th April,
1970.
The Course is designed to meet the needs of
persons working in the broad field of Social
Welfare who have had three or more years'
experience but who have not had the opportunity
of professional training.
The University of the West Indies is offering
twenty-five full scholarships for the Course and
there is a possibility that Grenada will get more
than one.
Interested Social Welfare Organisations are
requested to submit nominations to reach the
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Social Affairs
not later than Friday 26th September, 1969.

T is hereby notified for general information
that, in pursuance of the powers vested in Her
under the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153),
the Governor acting in accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet of the State of Grenada has
been pleased to appoint Mr. RAYMOND A. NOEL
to be the Authorised Officer for the purpose of
the acquisition of the lot of land mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE


All that lot piece or portion of land containing
by admeasurement about 3,000 sq. ft. English
Statute Measure situate at Monckton Street in the
town of St. George in the State of Grenada,
believed to be owned by the Home Industries
Association. The said lot of land is bounded as
follows:

On the north by Texaco Gas Station,
On the west by a Car Park,
On the south by Crown Lands,
On the east by Monckton Street.

required for a public purpose.

NOTIFICATION

(SECOND PUBLICATION)

WHEREAS it is provided by section 4 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) of
the Revised Laws of Grenada that if it appears
to the Governor acting in accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet that any land is likely to be
required for any purpose which in the opinion of
the Governor is a public purpose, and it is neces-
sary to make a preliminary survey or other
investigation of the land, She will cause a notifica-
tion to that effect to be published in the Gazette
and thereupon it shall be lawful for the Authorised
Officer (or his agents, assistants and workmen) to
enter upon the said land and to do all or any of
the things empowered by the said section:

AND WHEREAS it appears to the Governor acting
as aforesaid that the lands mentioned and des-
cribed in the Schedule hereto are likely to be
required for a public purpose, to wit, for the
purpose of a Land Settlement:

Now, THEREFORE, it is hereby notified by the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice
of the Cabinet of the State of Grenada that the
lands mentioned and described in the Schedule
hereto are likely to be required for the above-
mentioned purpose and that it is necessary to
make a preliminary survey and other investigations
of the land and RAYMOND MILLET ESQ., Chief
Technical Office (Surveys) Authorised Officer
appointed for the purpose of the said acquisition
may enter upon the said lands and do all or any
of the things by the said section permitted.

GRENADA BOYS' SECONDARY SCHOOL United Kingdom Commonwealth Bursaries,
1970/71


APPLICATIONS are invited for three posts for
non-graduate masters at the Grenada Boys'
Secondary School.
2. The salary of the post is at the rate of
$1788 x 84-$1872 x 96-2160 x 120-$2760 x
144-$3624 x 180-$4164; but the commencing
salary will depend on the qualifications and
experience of the applicant and consideration will
be given to the present salary drawn by the appli-
cant, if employed.
3. The post is pensionable, but is an acting
appointment in the first instance; and the holder
will be subject to the local General Orders in
force.
4. Applicants should state their ability to teach
(a) Mathematics and Physics, (b) English and
Geography or History.
5. Applicants should also give the following
information: -
(a) Age;
(b) School at which educated and certificates
obtained;
(c) Present and past employment;
(d) Amount of monthly salary earned in the
post in which applicant was last employed;
(e) Past experience in work of the same type or
in a kind similar to that required in the
post advertised.
They will also be required to furnish copies of
testimonials (which will not be returned to the
applicant) certified as true copies by a Justice of
Peace, a minister of religion or by a head of a
Government Department.
6. Applications must be in the candidates' own
handwriting and they will not be considered if
they do not obtain the information required.

AS the close season for turtles and oysters comes
to an end, the public is reminded of the need
to observe Chapter 36 of the Laws of Grenada,
sections 4, 6, 7 and 9. Order No. 26 of 1964 pro-
vides for close season for lobsters and this too
must be strictly kept.
Close seasons are necessary to ensure that the
young of the above are not captured before they
are matured enough to reproduce themselves, thus
ensuring us of future continuous supplies.

SECTION 1. Food : There was a decrease in the retail prices of bacon, but increases in the prices
of rice, irish potatoes, onions and coffee caused this group index to rise by .85 units
to 134.71.

SECTION 2. Alcoholic Drinks and Tobacco : An increase in the price of wine caused this group
index to rise by .24 units to 126.86.

SECTION 3. Housing : An appreciable decrease in the retail price of oil paint caused this group
index to fall by 3.75 units to 120.05.

SECTION 4. Fuel and Light : This group index remains at 116.30.

SECTION 5. Household and Miscellaneous Items : An increase in the retail price of Epson salts
cause this group index to rise by .12 units to 120.19.

SECTION 6. Clothing and Footwear : Increases in the prices of gents vests and ladies halfslips
caused this group index to rise by 1.76 units to 131.62.

SECTION 7. Services : This group index remains at 128.4.
