N OTICE is hereby given that a Session of the
High Court at Grenada, in its Criminal
Jurisdiction, will be held at the Court House in
the town of Saint George on Tuesday the 7th day
of October, 1969 at 9.00 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over
to prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
jurors or witnesses are required to give their
personal attendance, and all officers who have
taken inquisitions, depositions, examinations,
recognisances or other papers cognisable by the
Court are required to return the same without
delay to this office.

Trainees in the Grenada Civil Service.

the Royal Grenada Police Force.

NOTICE

DETAILS REGARDING THE VACANT POST
OF CHIEF EDUCATION OFFICER


APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
21 qualified persons for appointment to the
above post.

Qualifications : Candidates should have
academic and pedagogic qualifications and experi-
ence in the education field.

Duties : The duties attached to the post
include-

(a) the planning and administration of pro-
fessional matters in connection with
schools and other educational institutions;
(b) supervision of the professional staff in the
Ministry of Education ;
(c) representing the Ministry of Education on
various committees.

Appointment : Appointment is permanent and
pensionable, subject to medical fitness and a pro-
bationary period of two years except in the case of
serving officers. Under the Widows and Children
Pensions Act, salary of male officers is subject to a
deduction of 2o% per annum. The officer will be
generally subject to such Orders, Rules and
Regulations as may be in force from time to time.

Salary : The salary is at the rate of $11,040
(E.C.C.) per annum.

Allowances : The post is included in the First
Schedule to the Public Officers Loan and Travel-
ling Allowances Act, 1948. The appointed officer
will be eligible for a car loan of $3,600 in the
first instance and subsequent loans after periods of
three years not in excess of $3,000. Loans are
interest free and are repayable in equal monthly
instalments over a given period and not exceeding
five years.

The first 200 miles a month at 30c. a mile.
The next 200 miles a month at 8c. a mile.
Mileage over 400 miles a
month .. at 7c. a mile.

Passages : Passages of the officer, wife and
children under the age of 20 years up to a limit of
six persons are payable on first appointment.
The officer is eligible for a refund of up to $960
(E.C.C.) in accordance with current baggage
allowance claims which must be supported by
vouchers.

Leave : Leave is granted as follows :

42 days vacation leave a year of which 14
must be taken annually or lost. Maxi-
mum accumulation of leave 126 days.

21 days sick leave a year ;
Leave passages : Leave passages for officer and his
wife (but NOT husband) up to $1,500 per return
passage per person are payable after a tour of duty
of four years to a place outside the Caribbean area
provided that the officer shall NOT have more
than two passages paid during his total service and
that he spends at least two months outside the
Caribbean Area. Savings from leave passages
of the officer and his wife may be applied to those
of his dependent children if under the age of
20 years.
Quarters : Quarters are not provided.

Grenada Agricultural Scholarship, 1969
APPLICATIONS are invited for the above
Scholarship tenable at the Faculty of Agri-
culture, University of the West Inidies, St.
Augustine, Trinidad, from October, 1969.
Applicants should satisfy the minimum entrance
requirements for admission to the University of
the West Indies and should, in addition, have
included in their qualifications:-
(i) Chemistry: A pass at Ordinary Level or
equivalent; and
(ii) Mathematics: A pass at Ordinary Level or
equivalent;
Passes at Ordinary Level in Physics and in
Biological subjects are also considered desirable
but are not essential.
Applications should reach the Chief Education
Officer by 23rd August, 1969, and should be
accompanied by: -
(a) Birth Certificate or certified copy thereof;
(b) Evidence of British Nationality;
(c) Testimonials from two persons other than
school teachers under whom education was
received;
(d) Testimonial from the Principal of last school
attended.
(e) A Medical Officer's Certificate showing that
the candidate is in a normal state of
health and fit to pursue University studies.
