Now, THEREFORE, by virtue of the power and authority in me vested under the provisions of
section 61(1) of the Constitution of Grenada set out in Schedule 2 to the Grenada Constitution Order,
1967, and acting in accordance with the advice of the Premier, I hereby authorise you the said
GEORGE FREDERICK HOSTEN as from Friday the 6th day of June, 1969, to perform the
functions conferred by the said Constitution on the said ERIC MATTHEW GAIRY (other than
the functions conferred on the said ERIC MATTHEW GAIRY by section 61 of the said Constitution)
until the Honourable ERIC MATTHEW GAIRY returns to Grenada or until your authority for so
doing is sooner revoked by me acting as aforesaid.

in pursuance of the power vested in Her under
fhe Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153), the
Govet1or, acting in adcbtdance with the advice of
the Cabinet of the State 0o Grenada, has been
pleased to appoint Mr. RAYMOND MILLET to be
the Authorised Officer for the purpose of the
acquisition of certain lots of land being portions
of Mt. Rith and Mt. R6uil Estate mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto.

W HEREAS it is provided by 9g0titB 4'of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) of
the Revised Laws of Grenada that if it appears


to the Governor acting ift accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet that any land is likely to
bfe required for any purpose which, in the opfioelb
of the Goveinbt is public purpose and it is
necessary to make a preliminary survey or other
invVstigatf6n of the lind, he will cause a totifica-
tion to that effect to be published in the ,Gazette
and thereupon it shall, be lawful for an
authorised officer (or his agents, assistants and
workmen) to. enter upon the said land and to do
all or any o'f the things empowered by the said
section.

Period, Ending 31st December, 1969

REGULATION 22 OF THE MOTOR VEHICLES AND
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
OWNERS of Public Service Vehicles (including
Motor Omnibuses and Hiring Cars) Goods
Vehicles and Trucks, also Private Motor Cars are
hereby notified that the half yearly inspection of
these vehicles will commence as follows: -

Owners of such vehicles arm advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their
respective District Revenue Offices and then
approach the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the
Traffic Branch, Fire Station, in advance with a
view to affecting any alterations that may be
necessary to comply with the provisions of the
Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance, and
of the Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly
clean condition, and must have been recently
overhauled. The body and wings, axle, chassis,
frame, steering arms, springs, trackrods, brake
connections shackles, bolts, nuts, splitpins, engine,
engine shield and case, clutch, gearbox magnets
coil, air filter, carburettor and all working parts
must be cleaned in order to admit of proper
examination. Dust covers, if used must be


removed before presentation in order to admit of
an examination being made in full. All split-pins
etc. must be clearly exposed, also chassis and
engine numbers. Driver's seats must be securely
fastened so that the driver can have proper con-
trol over the vehicle; spot lights, musical horns
and whistles are strictly prohibited. Each vehicle
must have its rate and maximum gross weight
painted in white figures not less than 21 inches
in height upon a black ground in a conspicuous
place on the right or off-side of the vehicle.
The registered identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of regula-
tions, 7, 8 and 9 of the second schedule to the
Regulations, S.R. & 0. No. 151 and be such a
condition as to render each letter or figure readily
distinguishable. The attention of owners of
Motor Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is speci-
ally directed to Regulation 23 (11) (a) regarding
the position of front lamps. Spot lights will not be
allowed except with the written approval of the
Licensing Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring Cars and
Motor Omnibus is directed to Regulation 50 (2)
of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Regu-
lations S.R. & O. 151 of the Revised Laws of
Grenada which require that printed copies of the
Traffic and Maximum Fares be displayed in such
vehicles. These are now available and may be
purchased at the Treasury, St. George's and at
any District Revenue Office at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the In-
spector to have defects must not be used on the
roads until they have been issued with a certi-
ficate, certifying that the vehicles may be duly
licensed.
