DEPUTY DIRECTOR

DIRECTORATE OF CIVIL AVIATION

APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Deputy Director of Civil Aviation (Operations
Officer), Windward and Leeward Islands.

This officer will be required to reside in Antigua
and will assist the Director of Civil Avitation
with all matters relating to civil aviation in the
Associated States and the Virgin Islands, with
special regard to operational problems. The officer
will be required to travel within the area in the
course of his duties.

The salary is in the scale of $6,840 x 240-
$7,440 and conditions of service will be broadly
in line with conditions in the Antigua Civil
Service.

I High Court at Grenada, in its Criminal
Jurisdiction, will be held at the Court House in
the town of Saint George on Tuesday the 3rd day
of June, 1969, at 9.00 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over to
prosecute or to give evidence or summoned as
jurors or witnesses are required to give their
personal attendance, and all officers who have

.In the matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153)

T is hereby notified for general information that,
in pursuance of the power vested in Her under
the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153), the
Governor, acting in accordance with the advice of
the Cabinet of the State of Grenada, has been
pleased to appoint Mr. RAYMOND MILLET to be
the Authorised Officer for the purpose of the
acquisition of certain lots of land being portions
of Mt. Rich and Mt. Reuil Estate mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

(a) Mt. Rich
All that lot, piece, or parcels of land known as
(a) BIG FIELD, (b) ST. PIERRE, (c) NIGGER
YARD, (d) BELAIR, (e) MT. RICH CRICKET
FIELD being part of the Mt. Rich Estate in
the Parish of St. Patrick in the State of Grenada,
owned or under the control of Kent's Estate
Ltd., and containing by estimation sixty-three
acres more or less, abutted and bounded on one
side by the Hermitage Main Road on another
side by the Spring Bank Estate and on the
remaining two sides by Mt. Reuil Estate and
other lands of Mt. Rich Estate.

(b) Mt. Reuil
All that lot, piece or parcels of land known as
Canne Petit Jardin and Canne Chemin, being
portions of Mt. Reuil Estate in the parish of St.
Patrick in the State of Grenada, owned or under
the control of Misses Agnes and Helen Macleod,
containing by estimation forty acres more or less,
abutted and bounded on one side by Mt. Reuil
Main Road, Grand Sol Road and Mt. Rich
Estate.

In the Matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153)

and

In the matter of a Notification by the Governor
that certain lands situate in the parish of Saint
Patrick being part of Mt. Rich and Mt. Reuil
Estates in the State of Grenada are likely to be
required for a public purpose.

NOTIFICATION

(FIRST PUBLICATION)
WHEREAS it is provided by section 4 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) of
the Revised Laws of Grenada that if it appears


to the Governor acting in accordance with the
advice of the Cabinet that any land is likely to
be required for any purpose which, in the opinion
of the Governor is a public purpose and it is
necessary to make a preliminary survey or other
investigation of the land, he will cause a notifica-
tion to that effect to be published in the Gazette
and thereupon it shall be lawful for an
authorised officer (or his agents, assistants and
workmen) to enter upon the said land and to do
all or any of the things empowered by the said
section.

AND WHEREAS it appears to the Governor
acting as aforesaid that the lands mentioned:
and described in the Schedule hereto are likely
to be required for a public purpose to wit, for
land settlement and for a Recreational Centre.

Now, THEREFORE, it is hereby notified by the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice
of the Cabinet of the State of Grenada that the
lands mentioned and described in the Schedule
hereto are likely to be required for the above-
mentioned purpose and that it is necessary to
make a preliminary survey and other investiga-
tions of the lands and RAYMOND MILLET Esquire,
Chief Technical Officer, Planning Unit, authorised
officer appointed for the purpose of the said
acquisition may enter upon the said lands and do
all or any of the things by the said section
permitted.

The said lands comprise certain lots or parcles
of land situate at (a) Mt. Rich and (b) Mt. Reuil
belonging to or under the control of Kent's
Estates Ltd., and Misses Agnes and Helen
Macleod respectively and containing by estima-
tion sixty-three acres and forty acres respectively
more particularly described in the Schedule.

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their
respective District Revenue Offices and then
approach the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the
Traffic Branch, Fire Station, in advance with a
view to affecting any alterations that may be
necessary to comply with the provisions of the
Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance, and
of the Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly
clean condition, and must have been recently
overhauled. The body and wings, axle, chassis,
frame, steering arms, springs, trackrods, brake
connections shackles, bolts, nuts, splitpins, engine,
engine shield and case, clutch, gearbox magnets
coil, air filter, carburettor and all working parts
must be cleaned in order to admit of proper
examination. Dust covers, if used must be


removed before presentation in order to admit of
an examination being made in full. All split-pins
etc. must be clearly exposed, also chassis and
engine numbers. Driver's seats must be securely
fastened so that the driver can have proper con-
trol over the vehicle; spot lights, musical horns
and whistles are strictly prohibited. Each vehicle
must have its rate and maximum gross weight
painted in white figures not less than 21 inches
in height upon a black ground in a conspicuous
place on the right or off-side of the vehicle.
The registered identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of regula-
tions, 7, 8 and 9 of the second schedule to the
Regulations, S.R. & O. No. 151 and be such a
condition as to render each letter or figure readily
distinguishable. The attention of owners of
Motor Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is speci-
ally directed to Regulation 23 (11) (a) regarding
the position of front lamps. Spot lights will not be
allowed except with the written approval of the
Licensing Authority.
The attention of the owners of Hiring Cars and
Motor Omnibus is directed to Regulation 50 (2)
of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Regu-
lations S.R. & O. 151 of the Revised Laws of
Grenada which require that printed copies of the
Traffic and Maximum Fares be displayed in such
vehicles. These are now available and may be
purchased at the Treasury, St. George's and at
any District Revenue Office at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the In-
spector to have defects must not be used on the
roads until they have been issued with a certi-
ficate, certifying that the vehicles may be duly
licensed.
