ALL importers and exporters are notified that
with effect from the 31st December, 1968
Form 4, Carifta Shipping Bill/Entry, will no
longer be required for entry or shipment of goods
qualifying for Carifta treatment.
The appropriate forms would be Entry for
Goods Free of Duty and Shipping Bill for Local

NOTICE

ON an examination of Declarations of Origin
on goods reconsigned from Commonwealth
Countries the undermentioned faults have shown
up:-
(a) The name of the importing ship and date
of report are frequently omitted;
(b) There is no indication of the date or
manner in which goods were released
from Customs Control in the Country
from which they are reconsigned i.e. by
means of a Duty paid, Duty Free or Ware-
housing entry;
(c) Although it is declared that the goods are
in the original package in which they
were imported, from the nature of the
goods and the various types and quantities
packed in any one case there is grave
doubt as to the accuracy of these declara-
tions.
2. Goods certified for entry under the Pre-
ferential Tariff shall be packed separately from
other goods but the packages may be enclosed
with other goods provided that the certificate is
endorsed accordingly.
3. When Declarations of Origin are not com-
plete i.e. either (a) or (b) or both are omitted the
importer will be required to pay the higher rate
of duty.
In the last two cases if the goods are not in
the original packages (i.e. the outer casings) in
which they were imported or if the goods are
not packed separately from goods of non-
commonwealth origin and the Customs is not
satisfied as to the Origin of the Goods the General
Rate of Duty will be payable.

A. D. MITCHELL,
Comptroller of Customs & Excise.
