COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIP AND
FELLOWSHIP PLAN INDIAN AWARDS
1969-1970

THE Government of India is offering fourty-five
Scholarships and five Fellowships under the
Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship
Plan to students from Commonwealth Countries
for studies in Indian Universities.

2. The Scholarships are mainly for post-
graduate studies but in certain circumstances
some awards may be made for undergraduates or
other courses.


3. Application forms and further particulars

Culture and Community Development.

4. It is the responsibility of the applicant to
ensure that referees' reports from the three
persons named in his application reach the Chief
Education Officer by the closing date.

post of Tutor at the Grenada Teachers' College.
Particulars relating t' the post are as follows: -

Qualifications :

Applicants should be Qualified Teachers with
a minimum of ten (10) years teaching experience
and at least one (1) year of University training.

Dutie;:

(a) Conducting one-year and two-year in-
College Courses.
(b) Supervising the work of young teachers in
primary schools.
(c) Such other related duties as may be
assigned from time to time by the
Principal.

Salary:

The salary of the post is in the scale $3,624 x
180--$5 6-0.
A travelling allowance is payable at the rate of
$720 per annum.

Under the Taxes Management Ordinance

TOTICE is hereby given that tle Magistrate
of the Soutmrn District will hold a special
session at the Court House, St. George's, on
Friday the llth April, 1969 at 9.00 o'clock in the
forenoon, for the purposes of hearing objections
to, and appeals from, the assessments made by
the Tax Officer under the Taxes Management
Ordinance.

Any person desirous of making objections to,
or appealing against an assessment should give
notice in writing to the Magistrate, not later than
30th March, 1969, of his intention.

ALL importers and exporters are notified that
with effect from the 31st December, 1968
Form 4, Carifta Shipping Bill/Entry, will no
longer be required for entry or shipment of goods
qualifying for Carifta treatment.
The appropriate forms would be Entry for
Goods Free of Duty and Shipping Bill for Local
Produce.
Importers are advised that they should notify
their suppliers that it is essential that the two
2arifta invoices to be supplied to Customs must
be numbered, stamped and signed by the Customs
authorities of the exporting territory.

NOTICE
ON an examination of Declarations of Origin
on goods reconsigned from Commonwealth
Countries the undermentioned faults have shown
up:-
(a) The .name of the importing ship and date
of report are frequently omitted;
(b) There is no indication of the date or
manner in which goods were released
from Customs Control in the Country
from which they are reconsigned i.e. by
means of a Duty paid, Duty Free or Ware-
housing entry;
(c) Although it is declared that the goods are
in the ciiginal package in which they;
were imported, from the nature of the
goods and the various types and quantities
packed in any one case there is grave
doubt as to the accuracy of these declara-
tions.

2. Goods certified for entry under the Pre-
ferential Tariff shall be packed separately from
other goods but the packages may be enclosed
with other goods provided that the certificate is
endorsed accordingly.

3. When Declarations of Origin are not com-
plete i.e. either (a) or (b) or both are omitted the
importer will be required to pay the higher rate
of duty.

In the last two cases if the goods are not in
the original packages (i.e. the outer casings) in
which they were imported or if the goods are
not packed separately from goods of non-
commonwealth origin and the Customs is not
satisEed as to the Origin of the Goods the General
Rate of Duty will be payable.

In the matter of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(Cap. 153)

SECOND PUBLICATION

T is hereby notified for general information that
in pursuance of the power vested in Her under
the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap. 153) the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice of
Cabinet has been pleased to anpoint Mr. Sylvester
Sandy to be the Authorised Officer for the purpose
of the acquisition of the lot of land mentioned
and described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE

All that lot piece or portion of land containing
by admeasurement approximately I acre situate at
Gouyave in the parish of St. John and owned by
or under the control of William De Bellotte. The
sa:d lot is bounded as follows:-
On the North by the St. John's river;
On the South by the public highway;
On the East and West by lands owned
by William De Bellotte.

that certain lands situate at Gouyave in the
parish of St. John in the State of Grenada
are to be acquired for a public purpose.
DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND
SECOND PUBLICATION
W HEREAS it is provided in effect by section
3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance (Cap.
153 of the Revised Laws of Grenada that if the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice of
the Cabinet considers that any land should be
acquired for a public purpose She may cause a
declaration to that effect to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Governor
acting as aforesaid that the lands mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto should be
acquired for a public purpose, to wit, for the pur-
pose of constructing a public road.
Now, THEREFORE, it is hereby declared by the
Governor acting in accordance with the advice of


the Cabinet of the State of Grenada that upon the
second Publicailon of this declaration in the
Gazette, the lands mentioned and described in the
Schedule hereto shall be acquired for the above-
mentioned purpose and shall vest absolutely in
the Crown.
AND it is hereby further declared and notified
that the lands referred to are situate at Gouyave
in the parish of St. John in the State of Grenada
plan of the said lot may be inspected at the
and are about I acre more or less, and that a
Ministry of Communications, Works and Natural
Resources, Saint George's between the hours of
9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon Monday to Friday of
each week and from 9.00 o'clock in the forenoon
to 12.00 o'clock midday on Saturdays.
