In The Matter Of The Land Acquisition
Ordinance, 1945 (No. 3 of 1945)
And
In the matter of a Declaration by the
Administrator in Council that certain lands
situate in the Parish of St. David in the
Territory of Grenada are to be acquired
for a public purpose. ;

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND
(Second Publication)
W HEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, (No. 3 of
1945) that if the Administrator in Council considers
that any land should be acquired for a public
purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect
to be made.
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Admin-
istrator in Council that the lands mentioned and
described in the Schedule hereto should be acquired
for a public purpose, to wit, for the construction of
a public road.
NOW THEREFORE, it is hereby declared by
His Honour the Administrator, acting after
consultation with the Executive Council of the
Colony of Grenada, that upon the second publication
of this declaration in the Gazette, the lands
mentioned and described fn the Schedule hereto
shall be acquired for the above mentioned purpose
and shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLAREE )
AND NOTIFIED that the land referred to at
Laura in the parish of St. David is 7,686 sq. ft.
in area.
SCHEDULE
All that portion of land situate at Laura in the
parish of St. David in the territory of Grenada
being part of land believed to be owned by Messiah
Bain and measuring 7,686 sq. ft. in area, bounded
on the North by the Bacolet River, on the East by
and existing road and on the West by the residue
of the said land believed to be owned by Messiah
Bain.

LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE, 1945

T is hereby notified for general information that,
in the pursuance of the powers vested in him
under the Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, the
Administrator in Council has been pleased to
appoint Mr. JAMES SIMON Ross to be the Author-
ised Officer for the purpose of the acquisition of the
following lot of land:-
(i) All that portion of land situate at Laura
in the parish of St. David in the terri-
tory of Grenada being part of land
believed to be owned by Messiah Bain
and measuring 7,686 sq. ft. in area,
bounded on the North by the Bacolet
River, on the East by an existing road
and on the West by the residue of the
said land believed to be owned by Messiah
Bain.

Cocoa Industry Improvement Scheme



Distribution of Rooted Cuttings of Selected Strains
of Grenada Cocoa for Planting in 1964



ERSONS desirous of obtaining planting material
from the Cocoa Stations for planting in 1964,
should apply on the forms provided for that
purpose, entitled : Application Form for plants
Propagated for Distribution by the Department of
Agriculture."
(2) Application forms should be forwarded in
Duplicate to the Cocoa Agronomist, Mt. Horne
Cocoa Station, St. Andrew's, to reach him not
later than 31st August, 1963.
(3) Application received after the 31st August,
1963, will neither be acknowledged nor considered.
(4) Application forms are available at the
Department of Agriculture, all Agricultural and
Cocoa Stations, and District Revenue Offices.
Application forms can also be obtained from all
members of the extension staff of the Department
of Agriculture.
(5) Rooted Cocoa Cuttings are delivered at a
cost of 5c. per plant to the applicant at a point, as
near as possible to the site at which they are to be
planted, and accessible at the time to the motor
vehicle conveying the plants.
(6) The conditions under which planting
material will be issued are as follows:-
(i) The area selected by an applicant will be
inspected by an authorised officer as soon
as possible after the receipt of the applica-
tion, for the purpose of determining the
suitability of the site in regards to altitude,
soil type, wind protection and other
ecological and environmental conditions.
The applicant will then be notified whether
or not the area is approved for planting.
(ii) If for stated reasons the area is declared to
be unsuitable for planting cocoa clones, no
allocation of plants will be made to the
applicant.
(iii) If the area is declared suitable, an author-
ised officer will inform the applicant what
minimum action is required of him by the
Department of Agriculture, in regard to
provision of ground shade, windbreaks, soil
conservation measure, soil propagation etc.
The Agricultural Department will render all
assistance, guidance and advice in this
connection.
(iv) The minimum area for which plants will be
issued will be that which will contain fifty
(50) rooted cuttings planted at a spacing of
12ft. x 12ft. in a block.
The area to be planted will be re-inspected
by an authorized officer immediately before
the proposed date of delivery of the pLants,
for the purpose of ascertaining whether all

conditions have been satisfactorily fulfilled,
and whether the area is in a suitable state
of preparation for planting.
(v) Authorised officers of the Department of
Agriculture, will make periodic inspections
of the replanted areas, as often as may be
considered necessary, for the purpose of
observing field conditions, the development
of the young plants and advising the grower
on the care and management of the young
plants.
(7) Applicants are advised to take advantage of
the experience already gained in replanting methods
at the Cocoa Stations and other plots, were
replanting with rooted cocoa cuttings have already
been undertaken.
Applicants are accordingly invited to visit the
Cocoa Stations and to make the fullest possible
use of all information that is available,

Please note that:-
A small token charge will be imposed for citrus,
mango, avocado and such economic plants to be
delivered in 1964. This charge bears no relation
to the actual cost of production and will be
imposed with a view to stimulate farmers to take
more c-re of these plants than in the past, thus
exploiting their full potential.

Prohibition on the Davelopment of Land (erection
of new building, alteration to, extensive repair or
renewal of buildings within the area specified in
the following Resolution)

T HE following resolution which was passed at a
meeting of the Central Authority is published
for general information :-

RESOLUTION

BE IT RESOLVED that with reference to a
Resolution of the Central Authority passed on the
19th day of March, 1963, declaring their decision
to zone the area of land set out and described in
the said Resolution, the Central Authority have
this 19th day of March, 1963, in accordance with
the provisions of the section 13 (1) (b) of the Town
and Country Planning Ordinance, 1946 (No. 3 on
1946), placed a prohibition on the development of
land in the said area, so far as the erection of newf
buildings and the alteration to, extensive repairs
or renewal cf, any building in the said area is
concerned; save as may be granted under the
provisions of section 13 (1) (a) of the said
Ordinance.

tration Ordinance Cap. 225 in respect of General Town
Rates levied by the St. John's District Board the properties
shown opposite their names will be offered for sale at
public auction at the Revenue Office, Gouyave on
Wednesday the 31st ofJuly, 1963 at 1.30 p.m. for the recovery

BY ORDER made in this action there will he
offered for sale at this office on Friday the
26th day of July, 1963, at 12.00 o'clock noon ALL
THAT right title and interest of the above-named
defendant in :-
ALL THAT lot of land containing approximately
ten acres situate at Calivigny in the parish of
Saint George and bounded on one side by lands of
one Banfield on another by lands of one Bishop on
a third side by lands of one Charles and on the
fourth side by the Public Road together with the
buildings thereon.
The interest of the defendant in the same is
believed to be an undivided moiety in fee simple
and is being sold free from judgments against the
said defendant so far as known.


The sale is subject to the usual conditions of sale,
a copy of which can be seen at the Registrar's
Office and to the REDUCED RESERVE PRICE
of $2,132.33.
