QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY PARADE-8TH JUNE, 1963

DETAIL of procedure to be followed on the
occasion of the P.rade at Queen's Park, St.
George's, Grenada to celebrate the Birthday of Her
Majesty the Queen :-
1. The following will take part in the Parade:-
(a) A detachment of the Grenada Police
Force, under Mr. L. C. Phillip, A.S.P.
(b) A detatchment of the Grenada Volunteer
Constabulary under Mr. B. Roberts,
A.S. G.V.C.
(c) A detachment of the G.B.S.S. Cadet Corps
under second Lieutenant B. J. L.
Coomansingh.-


(d) Mechanical transport section (Police and
Fire Brigade).
The following are invited to attend:-
(a) Boy Scouts under Island Commissioner.
(b) Girl Guides under Island Commissioner.
(c) St. John Ambulance Brigade under Super-
intendent.
(d) Ex-Servicemen.
(e) Boys Brigade.
(f) Police Boys' Club.
(.) Junior Red Cross.
2. Units taking part will assemble at Fort
George at 8 00 a.m. except Scouts, Guides, St. John
Ambulance Brigade, Ex-Servicemen, Boys Brigade,
Police Boys' Club and Junior Red Cross will
assemble on Melville Street, along the Esplanade
at the Health Oftice and will join the other Units
as they pass on their way to Queen's Park.
3. The Parade will be under the Command of the
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. T. W. A.
Forsyth.
4. At. 9.00 a.m. His Honour the Administrator
will arrive and will proceed to the Saluting Base
accompanied by the Chief of Police.
5. Royal Salute: His Honour's Flag is broken.
Band plays first six bars of the National Anthem.
Parade Commander reports to His Honour.
6. His Honour inspects the Parade.
7. Immediately after the inspection, His Honour
will return to the Saluting Base. Parade will then
march past in column of Platoon.
8. On return to original position, His Honour
will move to a position on the flank and his Flag
will be lowered.
9. Royal Salute. Royal Standard will be broken.
National Anthem is played.
10. Parade Commander orders: Slope Arms
--Order Arms-Unfix Bayonets--Parade will fire

front rank and up the rear rank. When the right
hand man of the rear rank has fired, the Band will
play the first part of the National Anthem.
Parade Commander orders: "Lead-Present-
Commence and firing is repeated. On conclusion
of the second volley the Band plays the second
part of the National Anthem.
The process is repeated a third time and when
the volley is completed, the Band plays the whole
of the National Anthem. The command "Unload"
is taken followed by Order Arms-Officers take
Post-Fix Btyonets".
11. Parade Commander orders : "Remove Head-
dress. His Honour calls for three cheers for Her
Majesty the Queen. Parade Commander orders :
"Replace head-dress-Slope Arms ".
12. Royal Salute. National Anthem is played.
Royal Standard is lowered and is replaced by His
Honour's Flag.
13. His Honour takes his position at the Saluting
Base.
14. Announcements and Presentation of Awards
by His Honour while the Parade stands at ease.
15. Royal Salute. His Honour leaves.
16. All Units will march back under their indi-
vidual commanders disengaging at convenient
points. Police, G.V.Cs. and Cadets will march to
Fort George.

Ordinance, 1945 (No. 3 of 1945)

In the matter of a Declaration by the
Administrator in Council that certain lands
situate in the Parish of St. John in the
Territory of Grenada are to be acquired
for a public purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND
(Second Publication)

HEREAS it is enacted hy Section 3 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, (No. 3 of
1945) that if the Administrator in Council considers
that any portion of land should be acquired for a.
public purpose he may ctuse a declaration to that
effect to be made.
AND WHERE S it is considered by the Admine
istrator in Council that the lands mentioned are
described in the Schedule hereto should be acquired
for a public purpose, to wit, f':r the construction of
a public road.
NO W THEREFORE, it is hereby declared by
His Honour the Administrator, acting after
consultation with the Excutive Council of the
Colony of Grenada, that up- n the second publica-
tion of this declaration in the Gazette, the lands
mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto
shall be acquired for the above mentioned purpos-
and shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED
AND NOTIFIED that the land referred to at
Brothers Estate in the Parish of St. John is 1 rood
16 poles in area .


SCHEDULE
All that portion of land situate at Brothers
Estate in the Parish ol St. John in the territory of
Grenada being part of the said Brothers Estate
and measuring 1 rood 1.6 poles in area; bounded
on the North by a ravine and by the residue of
Brothers Estate, on the East by the public road to
Belvedere and on the South and West by the
residue of Brothers Estate and by a wire fence.

LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE, 1945

IT is hereby notified for general information that,
in the pursuance of the powers vested in him
under the land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, the
Administrator in Council had been pleased to
appoint Mr. JAMES SIMON ROSS to be the Autho-
rised Officer for the purpose of the acquisition of
the following lot of land:-
(1) All that portion of land situated at Brothers
Estate in the pauish of St. John in the
territory of Grenada being part of the said
Brothers Estate and measuring 1 rood,
1.6 poles in area, bounded on the North
by a ravine and by the residue of Brothers
Estate, on the East by the Public Road
to Belvedere and on the South and West
by the residue of Brothers Estate and by
a wire fence.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

Cocoa Industry Improvement Scheme

Distribution of Rooted Cuttings of Selected Strains
of Grenada Cocoa for Planting in 1964

PERSONS desirous of obtaining planting material
from the Cocoa Stations for planting in 1964,
should apply on the forms provided for that
purpose, entitled : Application Form for plants
Priopagated for Distribution by the Department of
Agriculture."
(2) Application forms should be forwarded in
Duplicate t: the Coco-L Agronomist, Mt. Horne
Cocoa Staiion, St. Andrew's, to reach him not
later than 31st August, 1963.
(3) Application received after the 31st August,
1963, will neither be acknowledged nor considered.
(4) Application forms are available at the
Department of Agriculture, all Agricultural and
Cocoa Stations, and District Revenue Offices.

AppIioation forms can also be obtained from all
members of the extension staff of the Department
of Agriculture.
(5) Rooted Cocoa Cuttings are delivered at a
cost of 5c. per plant to the applicant at a point, as
near as possible to the site at which they are to be
planted, and accessible at the time to the motor
vehicle conveying the plants.
(6) The conditions under which planting
material will be issued are as follows:-
(i) The area selected by an applicant will be
inspected by an authorised officer as soon
as possible after the receipt of the applica-
tion, for the purpose of determining the
suitability of the site in regards to altitude,
soil type, wind protection and other
ecological and environmental conditions.
The applicant will then be notified whether
or not the area is approved for planting.
(ii) If for stated reasons the area is declared to
be unsuitable for planting cocoa clones, no
allocation of plants will be made to the
applicant.
(iii) If the area is declared suitable, an author-
ised officer will inform the applicant what
minimum action is required of him by the
Department of Agriculture, in regard to
provision of ground shade, windbreaks, soil
conservation measure, soil propagation etc.
The Agricultural Department will render all
assistance, guidance and advice in this
connection.
(iv) The minimum area for which plants will be
issued will be that which will contain fifty
(50) rooted cuttings planted at a spacing of
12ft. x 12ft. in a block.
The area to be planted will be re-inspected
by an authorized officer immediately before
the proposed date of delivery of the plants,
for the purpose of ascertaining whether all
conditions have been satisfactorily fulfilled,
and whether the area is in a suitable state
of preparation for planting.
Iv) Authorised officers of the Department of
Agriculture, will make periodic inspections
of the replanted areas, as often as may be
considered necessary, for the purpose of
observing field conditions, the development
of the young plants and advising the grower
on the care and management of the young
plants.
(7) Applicants are advised to take advantage of
the experience already gained in replanting methods
at the Cocoa stationss and other plots, wl:ere
replanting with rooted cocoa cuttings have already
been undertaken.
Applicants are accordingly invited to visit the
Cocoa Stations and to make the fullest possible
use of all information that is available

Please note that:-
A small token charge will be imposed for citrus,
mango, avocado and such economic plants to br
delivered in 1964. This change b ars no relation
to the actual cost of production and will bI,
imposed with a view to stimulate farmers to take
more care of these plants than in the past, thus
exploiting their full potential.

COLONY HOSPITAL, GRENADA

APPLICATIONS are invited for appointment
to the post of Night Superintendent (Depart-
mental Sister), Colony Hospital, Grenada. Parti-
culars are as hereunder :-
Qualifications: Qualifications in General Nurs-
ing and Midwifery, which are registrable locally,
with good hospital experience.
Salary : $1,956 x 96-$2,148 x 144-$2,292 per
annum.
Duty Allowance: $120.00 per annum.
Quarters: Quartersareprovided at the Hospital
with board (or subsistence allowance at $30.0O per
monthh. Free electricity; services of Hospita'l
servant.
Hours : 7.00 p.m. to 7.00 a.m.-2 hours off
each night and 2 nights off per week, both subject
to the conditions at tie Hospital. During these
cff-periods her place is taken by the Senior Staff
Nurse on duty. The Night Superintendent works
throughout the year, at night.
Leave: Leave is granted at the rate of 36 days
per annum accumulable to 144 days or in the case
of a non pensionable officer, at the rate of 24 days
per annum accumulable to 48 days.
Duties: Duties will include immediate respon-
sibility for night supervision of the Hospital.
Applications, accompanied by two testimonials,

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their respec-
tive District Revenue Offices and then approach
the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic
Branch, New Fire Station, in advance with a view
to effecting any alterations that may be necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor
Vehicles and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938, and
of the Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly
clean condition, and must have been recently


overhauled. The body and wings, axle, chassis,
frame, steering arms, springs, trackrods, brake
connections, shackles, bolts, nuts, split pins,
engine, engine shield and case, clutch, gearbox,
magneto or coil, air filter, carburettor and all
working parts must be cleaned in order to admit
of proper examination. Dust covers, if used, must
be removed before presentation in order to admit
of an examination being made in full. All split
pins, etc., must be clearly exposed, also chassis
and engine numbers. Drivers' seats must be
securely fastened so that the driver can have
proper control over the vehicle. Spot lights,
musical horns, and whistles are strictly prohibited.
Each vehicle must have its tare and maximum
gross weight painted in white figures not less than
21 inches in height upon a black ground in a
conspicious place on the right or offiside of the
vehicle.
The registered identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of Regula-
tions 7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the
Regulations, No. 35 of 1958, and be in such a
position as to render each letter or figure readily
distinguishable. The attention of owners of motor
omnibuses and goods vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (1) (a) regarding the position of
front lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed except
with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of hiring cars and
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations,
motor omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
No. 6 of 1944, as amended by the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations,
No. 70 of 1946 which require that printed copies
of the tariffs of maximum fares be displayed in
such vehicles. These are now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George's and at
any District Revenue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the roads
until they have been issued with a certificate,
certifying that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

Resolution giving Notice of a Decision to Zone an
Area within the Parish of St. George

(Section 5 of the Town and Country Planning
Ordinance, 1946 No. 3 of 1946)

THE following resolution which was passed at a
meeting of the Central Authority held on the
19th March, 1963, is published for general infor-
mation:-
RESOLUTION

WHEREAS the Central Authority have decided
to prepare a scheme for the zoning of land within
the parish of St. George (whether public or pri-
vately owned), reserving it for specific purpos-s;
such purposes to include agriculture, forestry,
industry, commerce, housing and open spaces.
BE IT RESOLVED that the Central Authority
for the above-mentioned purposes do hereby declare
that the are; of land hereinafter described shall be
zoned in accordance with the provisions of the
Town and Country Planning Ordinance, 1946 (No.
3 of 1946); that is to say:
All that area of land bounded by a line commenc-
ing at the junction of St. George's main road and
the Fontenuy-Bollevue road, along the Bellevue
road to its junction with tle Grand Etang road
along the Grand Etang road to its junction with
the Boca road along the Boca road to its junction
with Snug Corner, Mt. Parnassus road to its junc-
tion with the Mt. Parnassus estate road along the
Mt. Parnassus estate road to its junction with the
Madigras road and along lthe Mladigras road to the
Good Hope Estate road and continuing along toie
Good Hope Estate road to its junction with the St.
George's main road. Along the St. George's main
road to its junction wi h the Mt. Airie Path then
along the Mt. Airie Path to its junction with Hope
Vale Estate road then along Hope Vile Estate
road to the La Borie road to the Dry River Cauise-
way. Then along the La Borie Road to a point on
the top ridge of Calrvigny Estate along the ridge in
a westerly direction until it meets the Moione
Jaloux road near the Church then continuing along
the Morne Jaloux road at its junction with Woburn
road. Then along the Springs-Calivigny road until
it meets the Woodlands Sug.ar Factory road. Then
along the Grand Anse road to the highest point of
Government land S.uth < f Morne Rouge along the
ridge which forms the ernmant land to a p-int to thi: north-eastern boun-
dary of the Leper Settlement thence to the sea
along the sea coast to the point of commencement.
(In all cases, where a road, path or river is eiven
as a boundary, the scheme shall be deemed to
include an area of land 300 ft. in width outside the I
said boundary).

the post of Assistanit Director of Public
Works, Grenada.
2. Salary: The salary is in the scale $4,680 x
180-$5,C40 x 240-$5,760,Bar $6.000 x 240-$6,720.
A travelling allowance of $1,200 per annum is also
payable.
3. Quarters: Quarters are not provided.
4. Qualifications: Candidates should have
either-
(a) A University Degree in Civil Engineering
recognized by the Institution of Civil Ed-
gineers, or
(b) Passed Parts I and II Finals of the Institu-
tion of Civil Engineers or obtained a recog-
nised diploma.
5. Further information may be obtained at the
Administrator's Office, St. George's, Grenada.
6. Applications which should be accompanied
by certified copies of Certificates, should be
addressed to the S(cretary of the Public Service
Commission, Administrator's Office, Grenada, to
reach him not later than the 15th June, 1963.
