NOTICE

THE attention of the Public is drawn to the
S following amended sections of the Read
Ordinance", Cap. 197 of the Laws of Grenada :-
SECTION 30.
(1) No house, building or other structure of
whatever kind shall be erected within
eighteen feet from the centre of the road :
Provided that the provision of this section shall
not apply to any house, building or
structure within the boundaries of any
town.
(2) If any house, building or other structure of
whatever kind is erected in contravention
of this section, the Road Auth iity may
give fourteen days' notice in writing to the
owner of i he land on which such house or
building or other structure of whatever
kind is erected to remove the same.
(3) If the person to whom such notice is given
fails to comply therewith within the time
specified therein, he shall be liable to a fine
not exceeding the sum of one pound for
every day during which he continues to
make default and the Road Authority may
cause the house or building or other
structure of whatever kind to be removed,
and may recover the expenses incurred in
so doing from the person in default.
SECTION 33.
Any person who without lawful excuse-
(j) plants any tree, or hedge or erects any fence
within 18'0' from the centre of a road shall
be liable on conviction to a fine rot exceed-
ing twenty pounds (20) penalty; and in
addition, to the payment of the co-t
occasioned by the damage done or by the
removal of the obstruction,

VACANT POST OF MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH,
GRENADA


SPPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
S qua!ifi-d candidates for appointment to the
vacant post of Medic l officerr of Health in the
Medical Services, Grenadn.
Duties of Post : Special charge of all clinics
conducted or emanating from IIealth Centres in
relation to a programme of Preventive Medicine
stipulated by the Medical Department, including
VeneralDiseases, School Health Work and Port
Health Work.
Appointment : Pensionable or on contract for
3 years, if preferred, subject to medical fitness.
Qualifications : D.P.H. or equivalent degree
or diploma registerable in the United Kingdom.
Specialised knowledge of V.I 1. is desirable.
Sa'ary : The post carries a salary of $7,680
Private consultant practice in V.D. is permitted
but private practice is not allow ed.
Allowances : A travelling allowance of $1,500
per annum is payable.
Further particulars can be obtained from the
Secretary to Government, Administrator's Office,
Grenada, to whom applications, stating qualifica-
tions, age and experience, accompanied by at least
two copies of testimonials must be submitted to
reach him not later than 30th April, 1963.

THE following information on the subject of Cost of Living Figures, in so far as agricultural
workers are concerned, is published for general information.
The index was revised in June, 1957, and is shown hereunder as a new series.

COST OF LIVING FIGURES FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY,


1963


The revised co.t of living figure for all items for the month of February, 1963 is 121.20 a rise
of 21.20 points above the base figure for June, 1957, taken as 100.
The following table shows the cost of living index fiure at the end of each month up to June,
1957 as compared with the base year August, 1939 taken as 100; as well as the figures in the series
with the base figure at June, 1957, taken as 100 :-

PRINCIPAL CHANGES DURING MONTH
Food : There was an increase in the retail price of dried pigeon peas which resulted in an increase
of 0.6 point above the figure for January, 1963. The group index figure for the period was therefore
121.6.
Clothing: There were decreases in the retail prices of men's white dress (jaffort) shirts and
leather shoes, women panties, leather shoes, cotton print and seersucker which resulted in a decrease of
6.2 points below the figure for January, 1963. The group index figure now stands at 126.2.
Fuel and Cleaning : There were no changes in the retail prices of the items in this group. The
group index figure therefore remained unchanged at 122.2.
Drink and Tobacco: Due to an increase in the retail price of strong rum which resulted in an
increase of 5.9 points above the figure for Jannary, 1963, the group index figure rose to 112 6.
SMiscellaneous Goods: There were decreases in the retail prices of bus fare and dinner and soup
flowered plates which resulted in a decrease of 3.2 points below the figure for January, 1963. The group
index figure is now 119.
