AID TO PIONEER INDUSTRIES (MANUFACTURE OF LADIES HATS)
ORDER, 1963.

2. Declaration of Pioneer Industry. The manufacture of ladies hats is hereby declared to be
a pioneer industry for the purposes of the Aid to Pioneer Industries Ordinance, 1952 and such manufac-
tured product is hereby declared to be a pioneer product for the said purposes.

POST OF GOVERNMENT
ELECTRICITY INSPECTOR


APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably quali-
fied persons to fill a vacancy in the post of
Government Electricity Inspector either by con-
tract or on a permanent basis.
Qualifications. Candidates should be qualified
electricians with at least 5 years experience and
have a thorough knowledge of wiring systems and
of the rules and regulations governing electrical
installations (I. E. E. and B. S. S.).
Duties. The duties of the Inspector are as
follows:-
(a) regular periodical inspection and testing of
all electrical installations in all Government
buildings and public places of entertain-
ment;
(b) inspection and testing of all new electrical
installations, additions, alterations, and
extensions before energy is supplied;
(c) inspection and listing cf the Electricity
Company's lines and works and the supply
of energy by them;
(d) periodical inspection and testing of all old
installations;
(e) such other duties not inconsistent with the
duties of an electrical inspector.
Salary. The salary of the post is in the scale
$3,876 x 18C- $4,956. The actual print of entry
into the scale will depend upon the qualifications
and experience of tne candidate selected.
A travelling allowance at the rate of $960 per
annum is also payable.
Leave. Vacati,)n leave is governed by local
General Orders.

Vacancy FPr Engineering Assistant (Mechanical)
Public Works Department, Grenada



APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Engineering Assistant (Mechanical), Grenada.
The salary of the post is in the scale $3,876 x $180-
$4,956 (P'R Group).
A transport allowance is also payable in accord-
ance with local regulations.
The appointment is subject to medical fitness.
Candidates must have passed or be exempt from
the final examination of the Institute of Mechanical
Engineers or its equivalent and have at least two
(2) yeirs experience in maintenance of heavy
equipment.


The duties of the post are to sunerviso t' m
maintenance of all vehicles/mechanical uits and
equipment of the Government Departments; to
t st new machines and equipment anid to carry
out such other duties as the I director of Public
Works may from time to time direct.
Applications should b, addressed to the Secretary,

15th February, 1963.

THE Income Tax Ordinance states:-
Every person chargeable with tax shall,
on or before the prescribed date in every yi ar,
deliver to the commissioner a true and correct
return of the whole of his income from every
source whatsoever f:Er the year immediately
preceding the year of assessment, and shail, if
absent from the Col.ny, give the name and
address of an agent in the Colony."
2. Notices of Return have been sent out by the
Inland Revenue Department, but it is the duty of
taxpayers to ensure that they get such a form and
make a return as required by law. (Forms are
obtainable from ihe District Revenue Officers).
3. Failure to Submit such a iReturn within the
prescribe-I time renders the taxpayer liable to a
penalty not exceeding 100% of the tax payable.

Change of Shop Closing Hours

ON 18th December, 1962, the Executive Council
approved the following Resolution of the
St. Andrew's District Board made under Authority
of Section 9 of the Shops (Hours) Ordinance, 1938
(No. 4 of 1938) and passed by the Board on 8th
May, 1962:-
Be it resolved that the closing hours of all
dry goods shops in the town of Grenville in
the parish of St. Andrew's be 5 o'clock in the
evening on Saturdays and 11 o'clock in the
morning on Thursdays".

Supreme Court of the \\ indward Ilands and
Leeward Islands at Grenada, in its Criminal
Juri action, will be held at the Court House in the
town of Saint George on Tuesday the 19th day of
February, 1963, at 9.30 o'clock in the forenoon
when and where all concerned and bound over to
prosecute or tj give evidence or summoned as
Jurors or witnesses are required to give their
p )rsonal attendance, and all officers who have taken
Inquisitions, Depositions, Examinations, Recog-
niances or other paper cognisable by the Court are
required to return the same without delay to this
office.

BY ORDER made the 21st day of March, 1959,
there will be offered for sale at the Registrar's
Office, St. George's, on Friday the 22nd day of


February, 1963, at 12 o'clock noon all the right
title and interest of the above-named defendant
in:-
ALL THAT estate called Palmiste containing
four hundred and sixty acres approximately
situate in St. John bounded as described in the
Indenture dated on or about 17th April, 1926,
made between Mary Ann McPhail and others and
Ruggles Low Ferguson recorded in the Deeds and
Land Registry of Grenada in Liber 18 at page 814
SAVE and EXCEPT the premises known as
the Palmiste Beach Club.
The interest of the Defendant in the said estate
is believed to be: -
1.-An undivided quarter in fee simple in
possession subject to an executory devise over in
favour of Donald Ferguson and Clayton Ferguson
in the event of the death of the defendant without
having had issue who shall have attained the age
of twenty-one years.
2.-Another undivided quarter in fee simple in
possession (formerly the property of Monica
Blackburn) subject to an executory devise over in
favour of the said Donald Ferguson and Clayton
Ferguson in the event of the said Monica
Blackburn dying without having had issue who
shall have attained the age of twenty-one years.
3.-A contingent interest in another quarter in
the event of the said Donald Ferguson dying
without having had issue who shall have attained
the age of twenty-one years.
4.-A contingent interest in another quarter in
the event of the said Clayton Ferguson dying
without having had issue who shall have attained
the age of twenty-one years which above interests
are subject: -
1.-As to the Defendant's two undivided quarter
shares to a mortgage dated 8th July, 1955, made
between the Defendant Monica Blackburn and
Creymon Prayag and the Incorporated Trustees of
the Church of England and recorded in the Deeds
and Land Registry of Grenada in Liber R 9 page
466 upon which $14,400.00 with interest thereon
from 9th April, 1958, aC the rate of $7.00 per
centum per annum is owing.
2.-As to the Defendant's original quarter share
to a mortgage dated 8th September, 1958, made
between the Defendant and Clayton Ferguson
aforesaid and recorded in the Deeds and Land
Registry of Grenada in Liber V 9 page 706 upon
which $3,360.00 with interest thereon from 9th
September, 1955, at the rate of $7.00 per centum
per annum is owing.
3.-A charge in favour of the Government of
Grenada upon the Defendant's interest and interest
of the said Clayton Ferguson for $48,288.14 under
the Agriculture Rehabilitation Ordinance. The
above is being sold free from judgments against
the said Defendant as far as known.
The sale is subject to the usual conditions of
sale, a copy of which can be seen at the Registrar's
Office and to the REDUCED RESERVE PRICE
of $11,118.15.

COST OF LIVING FIGURES FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER, 1962


The revised cost of living figure for all items for the month of December, 1962 is 121.39 a rise
of 21.39 points above the base figure for June, 1957, taken as 100.
The following table shows the cost of living index figure at the end of each month up to June,
1957 as compared with the base year August, 1939 taken as 100; as well as the figures in the nev
series with the base figure at June, 1957, taken as 100 :-

PRINCIPAL CHANGES DURING MONTH
Food: There was no change in the retail price of the items in this group. The group index
figure therefore remained unchange at 121.7.
Clothing : During the period urader review, the average level of prices of the items under this
group showed no change. The group index figure therefore remained at 129.5.
Fuel and Cleaning : There was no change in the prices of the items in this group. Like
November, 1932 the group index figure of 122.8 remained unchanged.
Drink and Tobacco: There were no change in the prices of the items in this group. The
November, 1962 group index figure of 106.8 therefore remained unchanged.
Miscellaneous Goods: Due to no changes in the prices of the items in this group during the
period under review, the group index figure of 120.8 remained unchanged.
