Ordinance, 1945 (No. 3 of 1945)

And
in the matter of a Declaration by the
Administrator in Council that certain lands
situate in the Parishes of St. Andrew's
and St. John in the Territory of Grenada
are to be acquired for a public purpose.

DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND

(Second Publication)
W HEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the land
Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, (No. 3 of 1945)
that if the Administrator in Council considers that
any land should be acquired for a public purpose
he may cause a declaration to that effect to be made.
"AND WHEREAS it is considered by the
Administrator in Council that the lands mentioned
and described in the Schedule hereto should be
acquired for a public purpose, to wit, for the erection
of communal latrines and baths.
NOW THEREFORE, it isjhereby declared by
His Honour the Administrator, acting after con-
sultation with the Executive Council of the Colony
of Grenada, that upon the second publication of
this declaration in the Gazette, the lands mentioned
and described in the Schedule hereto shall be
acquired for the abovementioned purposes and
shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
ANDIT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED
AND NOTIFIED that the land referred to at
Florida in the parish of St. John is approximately
2,400 sq. ft. in area and that the land referred to
at Munich in the Parish of St. Andrew's is approxi-
mately 300 sq. ft. in area.

SCHEDULE

(1) All that portion of land situated in the Parish
of St. John in the Territory of Grenada occupied
by ANGELINA SALFARLIE, Florida, being approxi-
mately 1,420 sq. ft. in area, bounded on the North
by the Public Road, East and South by the residue
of lands occupied by Angelina Salfarlie and on the
West by lands of Cedric Cassar.
(2) All that portion of land situated at Munich
in the Parish of St. Andrew's in the Territory of
Grenada occupied by Rufina Mason being approxi-
mately 300 sq. ft. in area, bounded on the North

Inspection of Motor Vehicles for the half-year
ending 30th June, 1963

Regulation 22 of the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic Regulations, 1938

SWNERS of public service vehicles (including
motor omnibuses and hiring cars) goods
vehicles and trailers, are hereby notified that the
half-yearly inspection of these vehicles will com-
mence as follows:-

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their respec-
tive District Revenue Offices and then approach
the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic
Branch, New Fire Station, in advance with a view
to effecting any alternations that may be necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938, and of the
Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must he presented in a thoroughly clean
condition, and must have been recently overhauled.
The body and wings, axle, chassis, frame, steering
arms, springs,trackrods, brake connections, shackles,
bolts, nuts, split pins, engine, engine shield and
case, clutch, gearbox, magneto or coil, air filter,
carburettor and all working parts must be cleaned
in order to admit of proper examination. Dust
covers, if used, must he removed before presentation
in order to admit of an examination being made in
full. All split pins etc., must be clearly exposed,
also chassis and engine numbers. Drivers' seats
must be securely fastened so that the driver
can have proper control over the vehicle. Spot
lights, musical horns, and whistles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its tare and
maximum gross weight painted in white figures not
less than 2j inches in height upon a black ground
in a conspicuous place on the right or offside of
the vehicle.
The Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of Regulations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regula-
tions, No. 35 of 1958, and be in such a condition
as to render each letter or figure readily dis-
tinguishable. The attention of owners of motor
omnibuses and goods vehicles is specially directed
to Regulation 23 (1) (a) regarding the position of
from lamps. Spot lights will not be allowed
except with the written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The attention of the owners of hiring care and
motor omnibuses is directed to the Motor Vehicles
and Road Traffic (Amendment) Regulations, No. 6
of 1944, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
Road Traffic (Amendment No. 2) Regulations,
No. 70 of 1946, which require that printing copies
of the tariffs of maximum fares be displayed in
such vehicles. These are now available and may
be purchased at the Treasury, St. George's and at
any District Revenue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defect must not be used on the roads until
they have been issued with a certificate, certifying
that the vehicles may be duly licensed.

The index was revised in June, 1957, and is shown hereunder as a new series.

COST OF LIVING FIGURES FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST, 1962


The revised cosr of living figure for all items for the month of Xugust, 1962 is 120,62 a rise
of 20.62 points over the base figure for June, 1957, taken as 100.
The following table shows the cost-of-living index figure at the end of each month up to June,
1957 as compared with the base year August, 19i9 taken as 100; as well as the figures in the new
series with the base figure at June, 1957, taken as 100:-

PRINCIPAL CHANGES DURING MONTH
Food: There was an increase in the retail price of blueband margarine which resulted in an
increase of 0.2 point above the figure for July, 1962. The group index figure now stands at 121.3.
Clothing : There were no changes in the retail prices of the items in this group during the period
under review. Like July, 1962 the group index figure remained unchanged at 128.1.
Fuel and Cleaning : There were no changes in the retail prices of the items in this group during
the month. The group index figure of 119.5 therefore remained unchanged.
Drink and Tobacco: There were no changes in the retail prices of the items in this group
during the month. Like July, 1962 the group index figure of 106.8 remained unchanged.
Miscellaneous Goods: During the period under review the average level of prices of the
items in this group remained unchanged. The group index figure remained at 120.8.
