that the Queen will not be advised to exercise Her
Majesty's power of disallowance with respect to
the following Ordinance of the Grenada Legisla-
ture:-
No. 33 of 1961.--An Ordinance further to amend
the General Local Loan Ordinance.

ADVERTISEMENT
APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably qual-
- ified persons to to fill two posts of Produce
Inspectors in the Department of Agriculture,
Grenada,, whiob will soon become vacant.
2. The posts are pensionable and carry salary in
the scale $3,444 x 144-$3,876. Transport allow-
ance at the rate of $1,284 per annum will be payable
in respect of the maintenance of motor cars which
are essential for the efficient performance cf the
duties of the posts.
3. Successful applicants will be expected to work
in the Marketing Division of the Department and
carry out regulatory duties in connection with the
inspection of all shipments of export crops leaving
Grenada for Overseas Markets. It will be their
duty to inspect all private and co-operatively owned
premises in which such agricultural products are
handled, processed, dried, graded and/or fumigated
prior to export. Their duties will include the
conducting of short field surveys from time to time
of all locally grown foodcrops, in order to assist in
their distribution and marketing. It will also be
the duty of the Produce Inspectors to advise
farmers on the harvesting of all field crops.
4. Young men with many years practical farming
experience and with knowledge of local farming
conditions will be considered eligible for appoint-
ment. Preference will be given to applicants with
experience in performing regulatory duties as in
paragraph 3 above.
5. Applications giving particulars of age, educa-
tion and experience, which should be accompanied
by two testimonials, should reach the Secretary of
t :e Public -ervice Commission, Administrator's
Office, Grenada, not later than the 15th August,
1962.

ANNOUNCEMENT
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
Cocoa Industry Improvement Scheme
Distribution of Rooted Cuttings of Selected Strains
of Grenada Cocoa for Planting in 1963
PERSONS desirous of obtaining Planting l material
Sfrom the Cocoa Stations for planting in 1963,
should apply on the forms provided for that
purpose, entitled: Application Form for Plants
Propagated for Distribution by the Department of
Agriculture."
(2) Application forms should be forwarded in
Duplicate to the Cocoa Agronomist, Mt. Horne
Cocoa Station, St. Andrew's, to reach him not
later than 31st August, 1962.
(1) Applications received after the 31st August
1962, will neither be acknowledged nor considered.
(4) Application forms are available at the
Department of Agriculture, all Agricultural an-i
Cocoa Stations, and District Revenue Offices-.
Application forms can also be obtained from all
members of the extension staff of the Department
of Agriculture.
(5) Rotted Cocoa Cuttings are delivered at a
cost of 5c. per plant to the applicant at a point, as
near as possible to the site at which they are to be
planted, and accessible at the time to the motor
vehicle conveying the plants.
(6) The conditions under which Planting Mate-
rial will be issued are as follows:-
(i) The area selected by an applicant will be
inspected by an authorised officer, as soon
as possible after the receipt of the applica-
tion, for the purpose of determining the
suitability of the site in regards to altitude,
soil type, wind protection and other ecologi-
cal and environmental conditions. The
applicant will then be notified whether or
not the area is approved for planting.
(ii) If for stated reasons the area is declared to
be unsuitable for planting cocoa clones, no
allocation of plants will be made. to the.
applicant.
(iii) If the area is declared suitable, an author-
iped officer will inform the applicant what
minimum action is required of him by the
Department of Agriculture, in regard to
provision of ground shade, windbreaks, soil
conservation measures, soil preparation etc.
The Agricultural Department will render all
assistance, guidance and advice in this
connection.
(iv) The minimum area for which plants will be
issued will be that which will contain fifty
(50) rooted cuttings planted at a spacing of
12ft. x 12ft. in a block.
The area to be planted will be re-inspected
by an authorised officer immediately before
the proposed date of delivery of the plants,
for the purpose of ascertaining whether all

conditions have been satisfactorily fulfilled,
and whether the area is in a suitable state
of preparation for planting.
.(v) Authorised officers of the Department of
Agiculture will make periodic inspections
of the replanted areas, as often as may be
considered necessary, for the purpose of
observing field conditions, the development
of the young plants and advising the grower
on the care and management of the young
plants.
(vi) Applicants are advised to take advantage of
the experience already gained in replanting
methods at the Cocoa Stations and other
-plots, where replanting with rooted cocoa
cuttings have already been undertaken.
Applicants are accordingly invited to visit
the Cocoa Stations and to make the fullest
possible use of all information that is
available.

EDUCATION NOTICE
T HE G.E.C. Examination will be held in January
S1963, and thereafter in January of each year
instead of in June.
The initial entry fee to the University is one
pound ($4.80). In addition to this entry fee, the
entrance fee for each subject at Ordinary Level is
ten shillihgs ($2.40) and for a subject at Advanced
Level, twenty-five shillings ($6.00) .A local fee of
$4.80 is charged for each entry.
Entries fcr the January 1963 Examinatian will
close on 31st August, and no entry will be accepted
after that date.
