T is hereby notified for general information that,
in the pursuance of the powers vested in him
under the Land Acqulsi;ion Ordinance, 1945 the
Administrator in Council has been pleased to
appoint Mr. DONALD KEITH SAMUELS to be the
Authorised Officer for the purpose of the acquisi-
tion of the following lot of land :-

The Foreign Compensation (Roumania)
HjHE above Order in Council, obtainable from
1. Her Majesty s Stationery Office ('.I., 1961,
No. 1832, price 6d.), provides for the distribution of
compensation payable by the Roumanian Govern-
ment under the Anglo-Roumanian Agreement of the
10th of November, 1960 (Cmnd. 1232).
The Agreement provided for the payment of Her
Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom
by the Roumanian Government of the sum of
1,250,000 in full and final settlement of the
(a) All obligations of the Roumanian Government
to the United Kingdom and British nationals
in respect of claims, other than those referred
to in the Schedule to the Agreement, arising
out of or presented under Ariicle 24 of the
Treaty of Peace wi h Roumania
(b) All claims, other than those referred to in the
said Schedule, in respect of British property
affected prior to the 10th of November,
1960, by any measure of nationalisation,
expropriation, State administration liquid-
ation, or other similar measure taken by the
The claims referred to in the Schedule are those
of the British nationals there named and are in
respect of property, rights and interests, including
debts, connected with direct ownership of or parti-
cipation in oil companies in Roumaniia.
The compensation is payable by the Roumanian
Government in six annual instalments beginning on
the 31st January, 1962, and these will be dis-
tributed at suitable intervals.
The Order in Council empowers the Foreign
Compensation Commission, 1 Princes Gate, London.
S. W. 7., to receive applications to participate in
the distribution of compensation, from individuals,
corporations, firms and associations and to de-
termine claims in accordance with the Order.
Prospective applicants should write to the Com-
mission as soon as possible.
Applications under the Order must reach the
Commission on or before the 1st October, 1962.

Ordinance, 1960 (No. 35 of 196() Notice is
hereby given that a sale of seized and overtime
goods will take place at the Queen's Warehouse on
the St. George's Pier at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday,
12th April, 1962.
A list of the goods to be sold may be seen at the
office of the Collector of Customs, St. George's or
at the Queen's Warehouse on the St. George's Pier.

Appeals Against Assessments Under The
Taxes Management Ordinance
T is hereby notified for general information that
the Magistrate, Southern District will hold a
special session at the Magistrate's Court, St.
George's, on Tuesday, 10th April, 1962, at 9.00
o'clock in the foren,;on for the purpoc, of hearing
objections to, and appeals against the Assessment
made by the Tax Officer.
Any person desirous of making objections to, or
appealing against an assessment should give notice
in writing to the Magistrate not later than 30zh
March, 1962 of his intention.

Road Traffic Check
11HE Police will be carrying out Road Traffic
checks on all roads on Monday 2nd and
Tuesday, 3rd April, 1962, for the purpose of
ascertaining whether the following Licences etc.,
have been paid.
(a) All motor vehicles licences
(b) Third Party Insurance risks
(c) Driving permits, and
(d) Bicycle Licences.
Owners of such vehicles who have not yet
renewed the above mentioned licenses etc., for the
year 1962 are warned to have them paid as soon
as possible as failure to obtain the revelant licence
may render the owners liable to prosecution.
Road Traffic Checking Points will be located on
all roads throughout the Island. A sticker will be
stuck on the windscreen of the vehicle to ensure

that it will not be stopped at any other point dur-
ing the check; drivers are asked to travel with
their driving permits so that they can be produced
to the Police on the point and save undue delay.
The law requires that all licenses be placed in a
metal disk which shall he affixed to the windscreen
or other prominent part of the car.
The motoring public is hereby requested to
co-operate with tlh. Police so as to avoid any un-
