NOTICE

Tenders-Carriscou Mail and Passenger
Service


EALEI) tenders are invited for the conveyance
of mails, passengers and cargo weekly between
rdenpada and Carriacou by auxiliary vessel for the
period .1st January to 31st December, 1962, in
accordapce with the schedule given hereunder.
2. The vessels to be used for the service must
not be less than 40 tons and must be equipped
with adequate seating accommodation and sanitary
facilities for not less than '30) thirty passengers,
and with life oats for passengers and crew.
3. All personnel travelling on official business,
iad pJant material, livestock, etc. transported on
behalf of Government will be conveyed free of
charge.
4. If necessary, the successful tenderer may be
required to make arrangements to transport fuel


oil for the operation of the Electricity Services in
Carriacou, in .daums of 45 gallons, and to return
the empty .drums to St. George's at a fixed price
for the period .o~ the contract.

SCHEDULE

Service A. Leave Grenada for Carriacou each
Saturday at noon, returning each Monday
at noon, with a trip from Carriacou to
Union Island every fortnight.
Service B. Leave Grenada on Wednesday for
Carriacou returning on Thursday. Persons
may tender for one or both of the two
services.

MORNE ROUGE BEACH CLUB


SEALED tenders are invited for the lease of the
existing Aquatic Club and three (3) acres of
land frcm the beach but not including the Annex
to the Club for a period of one or more years.
The Aquatic Club is a wooden building of approxi-
mately 5,000 square feet. The ground floor
comprises cubicles and water closets and the first
floor a dancing hall and lounge.
The successful tenderer will be expected to
operate a snack-bar facilities for night time enter-
tainment and such other attractions as are
conducive to tourist development.
Payment in respect of a short term lease must
be made quarterly in advance and the tenancy
may be terminated on three months notice given
in writing by either party prior to the date of
normal expiration of the lease. With respect to
a long term lease, however, the necessary conditions
will be stipulated in the Form of Agreement
for lease to be drawn up.
Envelopes containing tenders marked "Tendez"
should be addressed to the Chairman, Tenders
Board, Ministry of Communications and Works,
St. George's and should reach him not later than
12 noon on Friday, 10th November, 1961.
Government does not bind itself to accept the
highest or any tender.

Tenders for the Conveyance of Mails and
Passengers between Carriacou and Petit
Martinique


QEALED tenders are invited for the conveyance
) of mails, passengers and.cargo twice weekly by
boat between Carriacou and Petit Martinique.
2. Persons and articles shall be conveyed free
when carried on behalf of Government and under
the conditions laid down in the contract.
3. The contract will be for a period of one year
from 1st January t') 31st December, 1962.
4. Tenders should be submitted to the Chairman'
Tenders Board, c/o Ministry of Communications &
Works, St. George's, marked "Tenders for Carria-
*cou and Petit Martinique Mail Service" by noon on

NOTICE

Scholarship in Electronic Technology at the
Philips International Institute of Technological
Studies-1962/63



iHE Federal Government of the West Indies
Shas accepted an offer by the Management of
the Philips Works, Eindhoven, Holland of the
above mentioned scholarship which will be tenable
for a study term of one year mainly in subjects
under the general heading of Electronics and will
include such subjects as radio, television, telecom-
munications, measurement and control equipment
and their industrial applications. However, other
subjects such as light and lighting, X-rays, electron
microscopy, welding materials and techniques, and
some branches of applied chemistry will also be
possibilities.
The study will, as much as possible, be supported
by all facilities that can be provided by a close
collaboration with the Philips laboratories and
factories and will include:
(a) private theoretical and experimental studies
in the Institute.
(b) attendance to lectures given in the Instittue.
(c) a work period in one or more of the research
or factory laboratories.
Candidates should not be more then 35 years
celd and should possess a degree equivalent to the
M.A. (U.S.A.) or the B.Sc (U.K.) and must have
in addition some practical experience. They must
also be in good health and will be required to
undergo a medical examination.
The value of the Scholarship includes:
(a) tuition fees at the Institute.


(c) living allowance at the rate of 325 Dutch
guilders (32 approx. each month).
Applications are invited for this scholarship
which must be made in triplicate on the prescribed
forms obtainable from the Administrator's Office,
St. George's, Grenada, and completed application
forms and supporting documents must be submitted
to reach the Secretary to Government, Adminis-
trator's Office, not later than the 15th November,
1961.

REMEMBRANCE DAY PROGRAMME

For Sunday 12th November, 1961

rIfHE following programme for the observation of
I Remembrance Day on Sunday, 12th November,
1961, is published for general information.
2. All Ex-Servicemen, Police, G.V.C., G.B.S.S.
Cadet Corps, St. John Ambulance Brigade, Boy
Scouts, Girl Guides, Boys' Brigade and Police Boys'
Club taking part in the Parade should fall in
according to their religious denomination in squads
in the Market Square at 9.00 a.m. on 12th
November, 1961, to attend their respective church
services at the following times :
(i' Roman Catholics 10.30 a.m.
(ii) Methodists 10.30 a.m.
(iii) Anglicans 10.30 a m.
(iv) Presbyterians 10.30 a.m.
3. The Parade will be under the command of
Mr. J. H. Hlolley, M.B.E., Chief of Police who will
give the order for the units to march off to their
respective churches where they will remain in two
ranks outside and await the arrival of His Honour
the Administrator or his representative.
4. The Government Band will march at the
Head of the Colounr Party, followed by units of the
Roma-i Catholic, Methodist, Anglican and Presby-
terian churches. At Church Street, units for the
Presbyterian service will turn right and proceed
to that (huich. The Band, Colour Party and all
other units will turn left and proceed up Church
Street. On reaching the northern entrance to the
lioctory, units for the Anglican Church will turn
about and line up facing the Church. The Band,
Colour Party and the other units will march to
their respective Churches.
5. On the arrival of His Honour the Admin-
istrator at the Anglican Church, His Honour will
inspect the front rank of the units on parade
there, and will then proceed into the Church. The
units for the Anglican Church will follow His
Honour into the Church after a suitable pause.
6. il other units will be drawn up in two ranks
outside their respective Churches and will be
called to attention on the arrival of His Honour's
representative, they will then file into the Church
after a suitable pause. In the Roman Catholic
Church, the Colour Party will follow the units
into the Church.

Dealers,Hotels, Clubs etc., who operate under the
Liquor Dealers Licence Cap. 123, as it is Govern-
rent's intention to minimise if not eliminate the
illegal entry into this territory of all high duty
goods.
Those concerned are therefore advised to conform
with the necessary requirements as laid down in
Sections 31-37 of Cap. 123.
Anyone found contravening any of these sections

THE public is hereby notified that owing to a
broken bridge on the Tempe/Mt Parnassus
Road, there will be no through vehicular traffic for
some time along this road.

POLICE NOTICE

BY virtue of the powers vested in me under
Section 79 of the Motor Vehicles and Road
Traffic Ordinance No. 2 of 1938, I hereby order
that the two (2) roads leading to the Princess


Royal Hospital at Garriacou from the Belair
Top Hill Road shall be observed as one-way traffic
and all vehicles using the said roads shall travel
in one direction only as directed hereunder:
1. All vehicles travelling to the Princess Royal
Hospital will proceed by way of the
Bellevue Hospital Road near the Bellevue
Pond to the Princess Royal Hospital.
2. All vehicles leaving the Princess Royal
Hospital will travel along the road by the
Dispenser's Quarters and leading to the
junction of the Coolise-Top Hill Roads.
