NOTICE

THE United Nations are inviting applications
for Senior Fellowships from "young journa-
lists, educators or representatives of non-govern-
mental organizations." These fellowships will
enable selected candidates to see the United
Nations at work at first hand, in addition to re-
ceiving a course of lectures. Return fares and
subsistence allowance will be paid by the United
Nations.
Detailed information of qualifications and ex-
perience of applicants is required accompanied by
supporting documents.
Applications should be addressed to the Secre-
tary to Government, Administrator's Office, St.
George's, Grenada, to reach him not later than the
24th April, 1961.

NOTICE

THE death has been reported of CROMWELL
JAMES, a Grenadian, who resided in Haiti for
many years. The only particulars available are
that Cromwell James was born on 10th March,
1900, and the death took place on 27th November,
1960.
The Foreign Office is anxious to obtain docu-
mentary proof of James's nationality, and anyone
who is in a position to give information about him,
is asked to get in touch with the Secretary to
Government, Administrator's Office, as soon as
possible.

the West India Regiment are requested to report

NOTICE
OFFER OF A TWO YEAR GERMAN
SCHOLARSHIP

HE Federal Government has accepted the offer
of a scholarship by the Federal Hepublic of
Germany to students of the West Indies for the
1962 Academic year.
The scholarship which is tenable at any Univer-
sity, Technological College, Vocational College or
Vocational School in Western Berlin or Western
Germany is available in the following fields of
study :
(a) Economics (Political Economy, Trade &
Industry and Sociolcgy)
(b) Engineering
(c) Agriculture
(d) Forestry
Conditions of Scholarship: Educational quali-
fication must be proved by means of certificates
and recommendations of Professors. As a rule,
only such applicants are eligible to apply as have
already studied at a University or Vocational
School. Only candidates of graduate status or
'those expecting to graduate within a sear of this
announcement should apply. A working knowledge
of German will be an advantage.
Applications on the prescribed forms, which are
available at the Administrator's Office, should be
submitted in quadruplicate to the Secretary to
Government not later than 31st May, 1961.

Under the Boundaries Settlement Ordinance

N pursuance of Section 21 (2) of the above
Ordinance, I HEREBY give notice that a copy of
the diagram and report of Norris R. Williams,
Assistant Surveyor, Public Works Department, of
a survey made at the request of Derek Knight,
agent for Mr. Alister Hughes, of a lot of land situate
at Grenmille Street, in the town of St. George, in
boundary with the premises of E. Gittens Knight
and adjoining the premises of H. Curwen, has been
lodged in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court of the Windward Islands and Leeward
Islands at Grenada.

LAND AND HOUSE TAX NOTICE

Under the Taxes Management Ordinance

OTICE is hereby given that the Magistrate of
the Western District will hold a special
session at the Court House, Sauteurs, on Wednes-
day the 26th April, 1961, at 9 00 o'clock in the
forenoon, for the hearing of appeals against Land
and House Tax.
Any person affected by and dissatisfied with, and
assessment must give notice, in writing, to the
Magistrate, at least ten days before the above
date of his intention to object to assessment.

NOTICE

Commonwealth Scholarship and
Fellowship Plan



T HE Government of the Federation of Malaya
are offering two-year scholarships in 1962 for
Commonwealth students to pursue post-graduate
studies or to undertake research in Malaya.
Applicants must be citizens of a Commonwealth
country and normally resident in any part of the
Commonwealth other than Malaya. The schulit-
ships are open to both men and women who will
not have reached their 35th birthday by Ist
Ja.:uary, 1962, and who are, or by the end of 196 i
will be graduates of a university or college, or
holders of an equivalent qualification.
The scholarship includes:
(a) transportation to Malaya and return,
normally' by tourist air passage, as
arranged by the Malayan Committee;
(b) approved tuition, laboratory and examina-
tion fees;
(c) a personal maintenance allowance, payable
monthly, at the rate of M$5,400/- per
annum (630 sterling);
(4) a grant for books or equipment of M$150/-
per annum;

(e) a grant of up to M$L,00/- per annum for
approved travel within Malaya ;
(f) an additional marriage allowance at the
rite of M1$1,200/- per annum for a male
married scholar accompanied by his wife,
plus the cost of the wife's fare to M daya
and return. This allowance will not be
payable during the first year of the tenure
of the scholarship unless the scholar was
married at the time of his application for
an award, and will not be payable if the
wife herself holds a scholarship or is in
paid employment while in Malaya.
Applications on the prescribed form which are
obtainable at the Administrator's Office should be
addressed to the Secretary to Government to reach
him not later than 31st July, 1961.

two two-year scholarships each year for post-
graduate study or research. These scholarships
will be tenable at the University of Hong Kong.

trator's Office, St. George's, Grenada, and should
be returned not later than 10th May, 1961.
Emoluments: These will cover return passages
(at tourist rates, normally by air)
University fees
Maintenance Allowance 51.10.0 p.m.
Books and apparatus allowance 25. 0.0 p.a.
Additional travel allowance 25. 0.0 p.a.
Clothing allowance (if necessary) 40. 0.0
Single scholars will be accommodated in Uni-
versity Halls of Residence and will pay the usual
charges, which the maintenance allowance will
cover. An additional maintenance allowance of
80 per month will be paid to a married scholar
(who will have to find his own accommodation)
provided that he is married at the time of sub-


mitting his application. His wife's passage also
will be paid for only on the same condition.
Qualifications: Candidates must be Common-
wealth citizens and possess a University degree.
They must be under 35 on 1st October, 1961.
Scholars will be expected to reside in Hong Kong
throughout the period of tenure of the scholarship,
though they may leave for short periods with the
permission of the University authorities. They
may not undertake paid employment without the
written consent of the Hong Kong Government.
Immigration : Scholars must comply with the
normal requirements.

Registrar, University of Hong Kong, Bonham Road,
Hong Kong ; all other enquiries to the Director of
Education.
