NOTICE

Importation of Animals, Meat and
Meat Products Into Grenada


THE attention of the public is invited to the
Animals (Diseases and Importation) Regu-
laticns, 1960, S.R. & 0. 37 of 1960, which governs
the importation into this territory of animals, and
of me t and meat products.
2. In particular, attention is drawn to Regulations
16 and 17 which prohibit the importation of any
fresh meat, whether frozen or chilled, any cured or
pickled or smoked meat or meat product, and any
poultry carcase, except from the countries specified
in the Order and under permit from the Super-
intendent of Agriculture. This permit shou d be
obtained before any order is placed with the
suppliers abroad.
3. Because of the need to guard against the in-
troduction into the territory of such animal diseases
as foot and mouth disease, swine fever, and new-
castle disease of poultry, strict observance of these
regulations is being enforced. Any animal or

animal product imported in contravention of the
regulations will be seized and destroyed, in addition
to any other penalty which the law might impose.

Under the Boundaries Settlement Ordinance

IN pursuance of Pection 21 (2) of the above
Ordinance, I HEREBY give notice that a copy of
the diagram and report of Norris R. Williams,
Assistant Surveyor, Public Works Department, of
a survey made at the request of Derek Knight,
agent for Mr. Alister Hughes, of a lt of land situate
at Grenmille Street, in the town of St. George, in
boundary with the premises of E. Gittens Knight
and adjoining the premises of H. Curwen, has been
lodged in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court of the Windward Islands and Leeward
Islands at Grenada.

LAND AND HOUSE TAX NOTICE

Under the Taxes Management Ordinance

OTICE is hereby given that the Magistrate of
the Western District will hold a special
session at the Court House, Sauteurs, on Wednes-
day the 26th April, 1961, at 9 00 o'clock in the
forenoon, for the hearing of appeals against Land
and House Tax.
Any person affected by and dissatisfied with, and
assessment must give notice, in writing, to the
Magistrate, at least ten days before the above
date of his intention to object to assessment.

NOTICE

Commonwealth Scholarship and
Fellowship Plan



THE Government of the Federation of Malaya
are offering two-year scholarships in 1962 fr
Commonwealth students to pursue post-graduate
studies or to undertake research in Mlalaya.
Applicants must be citizens of a Commonwealth
country and normally resident in any part of the
Commonwealth other than Malaya. The scholar-
ships are open to both men and women who will
not have reached their 35th birthday by 1st
January, 1962, and who are, or by the end of 1961
will be graduates of a university or college, or
holders of an equivalent qualification.
The scholarship includes:
(a) transportation to Malaya and return,
normally' by tourist air passage, as
arranged by the Malayan Committee;
(b) approved tuition, laboratory and examina-
tion fees;
(c) a personal maintenance allowance, payable
monthly, at the rate of M$5,400/- per
annum (630 sterling);
(d) a grant for books or equipment of M$150/-
per annum;
(e) a grant of up to M$-200/- per annum for
approved travel within Malaya ;
(f) an additional marriage allowance at the
rate of M$1,200/- per annum for a male
married scholar accompanied by his wife,
plus the cost of the wife's fare to Milaya
and return. This allowance will not be
payable during the first year of the tenure
of the scholarship unless the scholar was
married at the time of his application for
an award, and will not be payable if the
wife herself holds a scholarship or is in
paid employment while in Malaya.
Applications on the prescribed form which are
obtainable at the Administrator's Office should be
addressed to the Secretary to Government to reach
him not later than 31st July, 1961.

NOTICE

OFFER OF AUSTRALIAN SCHOLARSHIPS, 1962/63


FHE Government of Australia is offering Scholar-
ships under the Commonwealth Scholarship and
Fellowship Plan tenable at Australian Universities
from March, 1962. These Scholarships are mainly
for post-graduate study or research normally ex-
tending over a period of two academic years, but
a small number of Scholarships may also he award-
ed at the undergraduate level, including courses in
teacher-training institutions and technical colleges.
The duration of under-graduate awards will depend
on the length of the course undertaken.

2. Benefits: The following benefits apply to
both types of Scholarship:
(a) travel to and from Australia generally by
tourist air;
(b) all compulsory fees;
(c) living allowances of [,X800 per annum for
post-graduate Scholars and [A640 per
annum for under-graduates. A special sup-
plementary allowance may be paid when
a scholar is travelling in Australia in con-
nection with his course ;
(d) clothing allowance up to a maximum of A50;
(e) a marriage allowance of A200 for post-grad-
uate scholars accompanied by their wives;
this allowance will not be payable in respect
of a wife who holds a scholarship herself, or
who is in paid employment ; nor will it be
payable during the first year, unless the
scholar was married at the time of his
application for an award.
3. Conditions : Applicants should be less than
28 years of age on 1st March, 1962, but in special
circumstances this age limit mav be raised. Medi-
cal certificates are not required at this stage, but
successful applicants will in due course be required
to comply with the medical provisions of the immi-
gration requirements for entry of students to
Australia. The wife of a married scholar must
also satisfy these requirements. Further infor-
mation may be obtained from the Secretary
to Government, if requested.
4 Applications: Applications must be made in
sextuplicate on the prescribed form, a specimen
of which can be seen at the Administrator's
Office, and these should be accompanied by six
copies of all supporting documents except by birth
certificate, where only one is required. All
applications must be forwarded to the Secretary to
Government, Administrator's Office, St. George's
Grenada, to reach him not later than 10th April,
1961.

OFFER OF A TWO YEAR GERMAN
SCHOLARSHIP



T HE Federal Government has accepted the offer
of a scholarship by the Federal Republic of
Germany to students of the West Indies for the
1962 Academic year.
The scholarship which is tenable at any Univer-
sity, Technological College, Vocational College or
Vocational School in Western Berlin or Western


Germany is available in the following fields of
study :
(a) Economics (Political Economy, Trade &
Industry and Sociology)
(b) Engineering
(c) Agriculture
(d) Forestry
Conditions of Scholarship': Educational quali-
fication must be proved by means of certificates
and recommendations of Professors. As a rule,
only such applicants are eligible to apply as have
already studied at a University or Vocational
School. Only candidates of graduate status or
those expecting to graduate within a year of this
announcement should apply. A working knowledge
of German will be an advantage.
Applications on the prescribed forms, which are
available at the Administrator's Office, should be
submitted in quadruplicate to the Secretary to
Government not later than 31st May, 1961.

OPERATIVE SOCIETY

NOTICE

T is hereby notified that the Annual General
Meeting of the Grenada Banana Co-operative
Society will be convened on Thursday, 27th April,
1961, at 10.00 a.m. at the rooms of the Chamber
of Commerce on the ('arenage, St. George's, for the
election of six members to serve on the Committee
of Management for the ensuing period of twelve
months.
