NOTICE

Saint George's Corporation Ordinance

THE public is hereby notified that in accordance
with Section 129 of the Saint George's
'Corporation Ordinance, 1961-Ordinance No. 3
of 1961-the Burgess List for the municipal borough
of the Town of Saint George's has been published
by fixing a copy on the office of the Board for a
period of two weeks.
Every person whose name is not in the burgess
list published in accordance with the last preceding
paragraph and who claims to be entitled to have
his or her name entered in such burgess list, shall
within seven days of the first day of publication
give notice in writing thereof to the Secretary of
the Board.
Every person whose name is in the burgess list
may, within seven days of the first day of publica-
tion of the list, inform the Secretary in writing of
his or her objection to any other person as not being
entitled to have his name appearing therein.
Notices of claim (Form D) and notices of
Objection (Form E) are available at the office of
the Corporation.

LAND AND HOUSE TAX NOTICE

Under the Taxes Management Ordinance.

OTICE is hereby given that the magistrate of
the Western District will hold a special
session at the Magistrate Court House, in the town
of Gouyave, on Friday, the 7th April, 1961, at 9.00
o'clock in the forenoon, for the hearing of appeals
against the assessment of land and houses.
Any person affected by any assessment and
dissatisfied with, the same, must give notice in
writing to the Magistrate not less than ten days
before the said session of his intention to object to
the same.

Vacant Post of Education Officer,
St. Vincent

PPLICATIONS are invited for the appoint-
ment to the vacant post of Education Officer,
St. Vincent, particulars of which are as follows :-
Appointment :-The post is pensionable, but
appointment (non-pensionable) may be on contract
for a period of 3 years in the first instance. The
officer will be subject to Colonial Regulations and
local General Orders for the time being in force in
so far as they are applicable. The appointment
will be subject to medical fitness.
Salary : The salary i in the scale of $5,184 x
$144-$6,048 (1,080 x 30--1,260) per annumd.
It is expected that this salary will be increased

Qualifications : Applicarts should possess a
Degree of a University within the British
Commonwealth, and should have administrative
experience in the field of Education. Diploma in

Education of a University within the British
Commonwealth or other recognized professional
qualifications in Education will be an advantage.
Quarters: Quarters are not provided, but in
the event that Government quarters become avail-
able, the officer will be required to pay rental not
exceeding 10% of his salary, or 5% of the assessed
value of the quarters whichever is the less. A
rent differential is payable in the event of quarters
not being available.
Leave and Leave Passages : Vacation leave
on full salary will be granted as follows :-
(a) In the case of a permanent appointment,
at the rate of 45 days for each period of 12
consecutive months resident service.
(b) in the case of a contract, at the rate of
1 week for each completed period of 3 months'
resident service, such leave to be taken on the
satisfactory completion of the period of the
Officer's engagement. Leave passages are
provided in accordance with local regulations.
Passages : Free passages from place of domi-
cile to St. Vincent will be provided for the officer,
his wife and children, not exceeding 5 persons in
all, on first appointment ; children to be under 18
y3ars of age and dependent on the officer. In the
case of an officer appointed on contract free pass-
ages back to place of domicile will be provided on
the satisfactory completion of the period of the
officer's engagement
Medical Attention : Free medical attention
and medicines are not provided.
Duties : The duties of the Education Officer
are mainly administration of the Education Depart-
ment and include responsibility for Primary,
Secondary and Technical Education and any otner
suitable duties which the Government may call
upon him to perform.
General: Government Officers are liable to
taxation imposed by local legislation.
Applications giving full particulars, qualifications
and experience of the applicants, and accompanied
by three testimonials (which will not be returned)

Post of Anaesthetist, General Hospital,
Barbados



PPLICATIONS are invited for appointment to
the above post which will become vacant on
1st August, 1961.
Qualifications: Registered medical practi-
tioner, preferably with special qualifications in
anaesthetics. Experience essential.
Salary : (a) Officers with specialist qualifica-
tions-$6,480 x 480-7,440 per annum
plus full fees in respect of consultations
outside the Hospital and a non-pen-
sionable allowance equal to 75% of fees
paid into the Public Treasury in respect
of specialist services rendered within
the Hospital.


(b) Officers without specialist qualifications-
$6,240 x 480-7,200 per annum.
A temporary non-pensionable cost of living allow-
ance of $108 per annum is also payable.
Appointment: Appointment may either be on
permanent and pensionable basis or on agreement
terms for a period of three years. Male pensionable
officer will be required to contribute to the Widows'
and Orphans' pension Scheme at the rate of 4% of
salary. A gratuity of 20% of basic salary is payable
to officer on agreement, on the satisfactory comple-
tion of contract, such gratuity being subject to
income tax.
Passages: Assisted passages of officer and
family are payable on first appointment up to a
limit of $1,950. Passages for agreement officer and
family are payable on appointment and on satisfac-
tory completion of agreement up to a limit of $1,920
each way. Lease passages for pensionable officer
and wife only are payable every three and a half
years.
Quarters : Furnished quarters are provided at
the following rental:-
Specialist officer-$600 per annum.
Non-specialist officer-6% of salary.
A refrigerator is provided at a rental of 5% of
cost.

Post of Director of Music, Barbados
Police Force

APPLICATIONS are invited for appointment
to the above post which will become vacant
on 1st May, 1961.
Appointment : The post is pensionable with
salary in the scale $,4560x192-5,520 per annum
plus a temporary non-pensionable cost of living
allowance of $108 per annum. Salary is subject
to a deduction of 4% per annum under the Widows'
and Orphans' Pension Act, 1928. Appointment is
subject to medical fitness and two years' probation.
Qualifications: Applicants should be graduates
of the Royal Military, School of Music (Kneller
Hall) and hold the Bandmaster's Diploma of that
School.
Duties : The Director of Music is responsible
to the Commissioner of Police for the control and
administration of a full Military Band from which
a Ceremonial Marching Band and a Dance Orches-
tra must be drawn. He is also required to assist
in the training of the Drum and Fife Corps of
Drums of the Barbados Regiment, and such ether
duties as the Commissioner of Police may require.
Leave : Vacation leave is at the rate of 45 days
a year accumulative up to 180 days. Casual and
sick leave are also granted.
Passages : Assisted passages for officer and
family are payable on appointment up to a limit of
$1,920. Leave passages for officer and wife are
payable every 31 years.
