ed for a public purpose.
DECLARATION OF ACQUISITION OF LAND

(Second Publication)
W HEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the
Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945, (No 3 of
1945) that if the Acting Administcator in Council
considers that any land should be acquired for a
public purpose he may cause a declaration to that
effect to be made;
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Acting
Administrator in Council that the land mentioned
and described in the Schedule hereto should be
acquired for a public purpose, to wit for a Water
Tank site;
Now THEREFORE, IT is HEREBY DECLARED
BY His IHONOUR THE ACTING ADMINISTRATOR,
acting after consultation with the Executive Council
of the "olony cf Gren.d;,, that upon the second
publication of this declaration in the Gazette, the
land men ioned and described in the Schedule
her-to shall be acquired for the above mentioned
purposes and shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHEII DECLARED AND)

IT is hereby notified for general information that,
in the pursuance of the powers vested in him
under the Land Acquisition Ordinance, 1945 the
Acting Administrator in Council has been please
to appoint Mr. Donald Keith Samuels to be the
Authorised Officer for the purpose of the acquisition
of the following lot of land :-
All that portion of land at Woburn in the
parish of St. George in the Colony of Grenada,
owned by Merina Cruickshank, being in area 2
roods 21 poles (English Statute Measure) and
bounded on the North by Williamson

Owners of such vehicles are advised to pay
inspection fees from now onwards at their respec-
tive District Revenue Offices and then approach
the Inspector of Motor Vehicles at the Traffic
Branch, New Fire Station, in advance with a view
to effecting any alterations that may be necessary
to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles
ind Road Traffic Ordinance, 1938, and of the
Regulations made thereunder.
Vehicles must be presented in a thoroughly clean
condition, and must have been recently overhauled.
The body and wings, axle, chassis, frame, steering
arms, springs, trackrods, brake connections,
shatcies, bolts, nuts, split pins, engine, engine
shield and case, clutch, gearbox, magneto or coil,
air filter, carburettor and all working p.irts must
be cleaned in order to admit of proper examination.
Dust covers, if used, must be removed before pre-
sentation in order to admit of an examination
being made in full. All split pins, etc., must be
clearly exposed, also chassis and engine numbers.
I rivers' seats must be securely fastened so that
the driver can have proper control over the vehicle.
Spot lights, musical horns and whistles are strictly
prohibited. Each vehicle must have its tare and
maximum gross weight painted in white figure- not
less than inchess in height upon :, black ground
in a conspicious pla-e on the right or offside of
the vehicle.
'. lie Registered Identification marks on all
vehicles must conform to provisions of Reg ilations
7, 8 and 9 and the Second Schedule to the Regula-
tions No. 35 of 195-, and be in such a condition
as to render eacl letter or figure readily dis-
tinguishable. The attention of owners of Motor
Omnibuses and Goods Vehicles is specially directed
to R'-gulation 23 11() (a) reg.rdill the position of
frown;t lamps. >-pot lights will not he allowed ex-
cept w t ti oe written approval of the Licensing
Authority.
The nttnltioi of the owners of Hiring cars and
Motcr Omni.iuses is directed to the motor Vehicles
and Road TraffI (Amendni-nt) Regailtions, No. 6
of 1944, as amended by the Motor Vehicles and
IRoad Trafic (Amuendment No. 2) ligutl.,tions,
No 70 of 19 36, which require that printed cuioes
cf the Tariffs of Maximum Fares be displayed in

such Vehicles. These are now available and may
be purchased at I he Treasury. St. George's, and at
any District Revenue Office, at 4 cents per copy.
Vehicles which have been found by the Inspector
to have defects must not be used on the roads
until they have been issued with a certificate,
certifying that the vehicles-may be duly licensed.

HES Department of Agriculture is now in a
position to offer the Grenada Public a choice
of selected sires from Canada and the United King-
dom. Frozen sem, n from Red Poll (dual purpose),
Jerseys and Ho!stein (dairy) bulls, are now avail-
able, and persons requesting Artificial Insemination
should state their choice of these breeds.
N.B. The cows come in:o 'heat' or Oestrous
approximately every twenty-one (21) da.ys. This
heat period lasts for about 1S-24 hours and the
animal must be inseminated within that period. To
call for insemination service ring 2225/6--the
Department of Agriculture-between the hours of
8.30 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.

Vacant Post Of Matron Alexandra Hospital Nevis



APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Matron, Alexandra Hospital particulars of
which are as follows :-
Duties of post:- Responsibility to Medical
Superintendent, Alexandra. Hospital for nursing
care of patients and supervision and training of
nurses at the Alexandra Hospital (approximately
60 beds). Liable for service in any part of the
territory and to serve in any of the posts of
Assistant Matron, or Sister Tutor, Cnnningham
Hospital. Attached to the Alexandra Hospital is
an Infirmary of 24 beds which the officer is also
required to supervise.

Qualifications required by holder of post:-

(a) Candidates must be entitled to be registered
in the general part of the General Nursing
Council for England and Wales, the Gen-
eral Nursing Council for Scotland or the
Joint Nursing and Midwives Council of
Ireland.
(b) Must have been admitted to the roll of State
Certified Midwives maintained by one of
the General Midwives Board; and
(c) should be qualified for membership of
the Queen Elizabeth's Oversea Nursing
Service, with basic Education of not less
than Cambridge School Certificate and
should have three to four years Ward
Sister's experience. Preference will be given
to candida'-es holding a recognized Sister
Tutor Diploima or who have had administra-
tive training.

Salary of post :- $2880 x 120 $3360 per
annum.

Allowances and other circumstances affect-
ing value of the post e.g. Transport :-The
post is pensionable, but the officer would he on
probation for three years.

Quarters, housing accommodation, furniture
china, electricity supply etc.:- Basic household
requisites are supplied and can also be obtained
locally but the officer may ish to bring a small
supply of linen, cutlery, crockery, glassware, silver'
and small articles. Electricity is available and wil
be provided at a charge to the officer at the rate of
50% of the cost.

Passage :- A free passage will be provi.led on
first appointment.
Leave :- Vacation leave may be granted at the
rate cf 42 days while the officer is in receipt of
salary of less than $3,168 per annum; and 48 days
when the ollicer is in receip: of sal.iry of $3,168
and over. Tii leave may bo accumulated up to a
maximum of 183 days.

Sick leave :- Sick leave may be granted with
fu'l salary, up to a maximum period of six m nths
during any .period of twelve months or less.
Thereafter, further extension of sick leave may be
ganted with half salary, subject to a maximum
period of sick leave in all, with full and half


salary, not exceeding twelve months in any period
of four years or less.

Canada Non-Resident Fellowship

THE Canada Council is offering a Non-Resident

Applications should furnish evidence of their agc
and qualifications, two recent testimonials and
given the name of two referees. Applications
should be sent to the Administrator, St. Kitts-
Nevis-Anguilla, to reach him not later than the
30th December, 19of Candidates already holding
posts in the Public Service are required to submit
their applications through the normal official
channels at least one week before the closing date.


Canada Non-Resident Fellowship

rIHE Canada Council is offering a Non-Resident
in quintupFellowship open to nationals of the prescribed form, a specimen
Indies of under 35 years of age for the academic,
year 1961-62. This Feleowshis is tenabie at an
institution in Canada and will afford training in the
arts, humanities, or in the social sciences.
2submi The Canada council will pay tuition fees and
the cost of return passages, in addition to a stipend
of Canad,000 (Canadian) per annum. A summer
allowance of $500 is payable only where a fellow-
ship is renewed and the holder spends the summer
months in Canada prior to commencing his second
academic year. Ho:ders on Non-Resident Fellow-
ship are not allowed to accept assistantships or
teaching appointments.
3. Applications are now invited for the 1961-62
Canada Council Non-Resident award and should be
forwarded to the Secretary to Government, Admin-
istrator's Office, Government House, St. George's
in quintuplicate on the prescribed form, a specimen
of which may be seen at this office. In addition to
the supporting documents required in Section 8 of
the application form, candidates are requested to
submit evidence that they possess a good knowledge
in English or French, according to their destination
of Canada.
