Food : There were increases in the retail prices of blueband margarine and sweet potatoes which
resulted in an increase of 1.2 points above the figure for September, 1960. The group index figure now
stands at 108.5.
Clothing : During the period under review there were increases in the retail prices of tailoring
(working pants, khaki), denim and cotton print which resulted in an increase of 1.9 points above the figure
for September, 1960. The group index figure is now 121.
Fuel and Cleaning: There were no changes in the retail prices of the items under this group.
Like September, 1960, the group index figure remained unchanged at 112.5.
Drink and Tobacco : There were no changes in the retail prices of the items in this group. The
group index figure, therefore, remained unchanged at 88.3
Miscellaneous goods: Owing to a decrease in the price of cinema fee (pit) during the period
which resulted in a decrease of 3.9 points below the figure for September, 1960, the group inde< figure
fell to 115.
