NOTICE

APPLICATIONS are hereby invited for the post
of Caretaker, Grand Etang Rest House with
salary in the scale $633.60 x $43.20-$892.80
together with free quarters.
2 Duties : To be responsible for the care and
control of the buildings.
To provide for those members of the public
authorised to use Sanatorium.
To cater for the public, provided that due
notice is given by parties numbering more than two
persons.
To keep stock of-whisky, rum, beer and sweet
drinks to be sold according to tariff.
To carry put the provisions of Rules Manage-
nsent of tlhe Graqud Etang Sanatorium (see page 48.
Y1. III of Laws).
To agree to and conform with any additional
Rules and Regulations that may from time to
time be enforced for the proper management of
the Sanatorium.
Caretaker not to lease the premises without the
approval of the Director of Public Works.
4. The successful candidate will be required to
reside at the quarters, and perference will be given
to a married person whose consort is willing to
reside there.
5., Applications should be addressed to the
Secretary to Government, to reach him not later
than 11th October, 1960.


NOTICE

THE attention of importers is once again drawn
Sto. the provisions of Section 15 (1) of Sehedule
2 t o,. te Animals (Diseases and Importation)
QrdipanceL No. 9 of 1953, (as amended) which
reads as follows :-
No fresh carcass, whether frozen or chilled,
nor any cured, or pickled carcass, of any cattle, pig,
sheep or goat, or any portion of any such carcass,
shall be imported into the Colony except such
carcass or portion thereof is imported :-
(a) Directly from any of the following countries:
Scotland, Northern Ireland, Eire, (anada,
New Zealand, Australia, United States of
America; and
(b) in accordance with the terms of a permit
granted by the Director of Agriculture.
2. The permit required under (b) above must be


obtained before the order is placed with the ex-
porters. Failure to comply with this requirement
will render the importer liable to the penalty pro-
vided under the Ordinance.

TiHE public are hereby notified that the Hyde
Park Road from its junction with Woolwich
Road to Lowthers Lane will be closed to vehicular
traffic until further notice for the reconstruction
of the road.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

Farm Machinery Service


Persons desirous of using the
1. Caterpillar D6 Tractor (St. George's Parish)
2. International D4 Tractor (St. Patrick's Parish)
3. International D4 Tractor (St. Andrew's Parish)
for bulldozing, subsoiling or ripping should submit
their applications to the Cocoa Agronomist at Mt.
Horne Cocoa Station, St. Andrew's on the approved
form obtainable at all Agricultural Stations and the
Department of Agriculture at Tanteen, St. George's.
The rate of hire is twenty dollars ($20,00) per
working hour for the Caterpillar D6 and ten dollars
($10.00) per working hour for the Internationals.
No charge is made for the transportation of the
equipment to and from the working site.
Approximately one-third (') of the total cost of
the work to be carried out must be deposited at the
Mt. Home Cocoa Station, St. Andrew's before the
equipment is made available to the applicant.
The final payment must, he made as soon as
possible after the work has been completed.

POST OFFICE NOITCE

THE Public are hereby reminded that inland
mails are being closed twice daily; at 12 noon
and 3 p.m. On Saturdays at 11.30 a.m.
Registration will be closed daily at 11 a.m.
The mailvans leave General Post Office daily at
7 a.m. going the western side, and returning via
the eastern side, and at 2 p.m. travelling eastward
and returning westward.
On Saturday 1 p.m. instead of 2 p.m.

NOTICE
Vacancies For School Inspectors,
Board of Education

APPLICATIONS are invited for two posts of
school inspector in the Bahamas, (a) for
English and (b) for Physical Education. Persons
selected, who will be appointed in the grade of
Supervisory Head Teacher, will be required to carry
out inspections in New Providence and the out
islands, and will be baded in Nassau, New
Providence.
Qualifications required:-
Post (a) : University Degree in English;
Teachers' Ceitificate or Diploma of a recog-
nised Teachers' Training College ; experience
in primary school teaching.
Post (b) : Teachers' Certificate in Physical
Education, or Diploma in Physicil EJu-
cation of a recognized Teachers' Training
College ; experience in primary school
teaching.
Terms of Employment: Three-year contract;
free passage (cabin) to Balrimas on appointment,
and return at end of contract; salary scale 1,40Ux
50 to 1,650, according to experience, plus
temporary allowance of 2*'%; rent allowance of
difference botAeen 15% of salary and rent paid, up
to a maximum of 600 per annum.
Further information about the conditions in the
Bahamas may be obtained, cn request, from the
Secretary to Government, Administrator's Office,
Grenada.


ST. GEORGE'S DISTRICT BOARD

Traffic In Market Place

Portion of the St. George's Market not required
at the moment for marketing transactions is
available for use by public passenger vehicles on
the following conditions :
1. Two sections have been set aside for parking
and those only are to be used for that purpose.
One section has been reserved for buses and the
other for taxi-cabs.
2. Both sections have been divided into indivi-
dual lots, numbered, and available for rental at the
rate of $3.00 per month for buses and $2.00 per
month for taxis, payable in advance.
3. No vehicle will be allowed to stand in the
roadways.
4. The flow and direction of traffic shall be in
accordance with the Traffic Signs posted at the
points of connection with the main streets.
5. As from October 1st 1960, vehicles which
have not rented lots will not be permitted to park
in the market place.

the age of twenty-one years.
4. A contingent interest in another quarter in
the event of the said CLAYTON FERGUSON dying
without having had issue who shall have attained
the age of twdnty-one years which above interest
are subject :-
(i) As to the Defendant's two undivided quarter
shares to a mortgage dated 8th July, 1955 made
between the Defendant MONICA BLACKBURN and
CREYMON PARYAG and the Incorporated Trustees
of the Church of England and recorded in the
Deeds and Land Registry of Grenada in Liber R 9
page 466 upon which $14,400.00 with interest
thereon from 9th April, 1958 at the rate of $7.00
per centum per annum is owing.
(ii) As to the Defendant's original quarter share
to a mortgage dated 8th September, 1958 made
between the Defendant and CLAYTON FERGUSON
aforesaid and recorded in the Deeds and Land
Registry in Liber V 9 page 706 upon which
$3,360.00 with interest thereon from 9th Septem-
ber, 1955 at the rate of $7.00 per centum per
annum is owing.
(iii) A charge in favour of the Gavernment of
Grenada upon the Defendant's interest and interest
of the said CLAYTON FERGUSON for $48,288.14
under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Ordinance.
The above is being sold free from Judgments
against the said Defendant as far as known.
The sale is subject to the usual conditions of sale,
a copy of which can be seen at the Registrar's
Office and to the REDUCED RESERVED PRICE
of $20, 920.72.

VACANCY NOTICE

Post Of Clerical And Workshop Assistant,
Department Of Forestry And Lands

A PPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Clerical and Workshop Assistant at the Tim-
ber Impregnation Plant, Queen's Park in the
Department of Forestry and Lands.
Appointment: The post which is non-pension-
able and is subject to medical fitness, carries a flat
salary at the rate of $1,080 per annum. No quar-
ters are provided.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a good
knowledge of workshop practices and be able to
operate and maintain Woodworkshop Machines.
They must also be capable of supervising labour and
should have reached at least the 7th Standard in a
primary school.
Applications should be addressed to the Secretary,

St. George's, to reach him not later than 10th
October, 1960.

POST OF CROWN SURVEYOR-DOMINICA

APPLICATIONS are invited for appointment to
the post of Crown Surveyor, Dominica.
1. Appointment: The post is pensionable and
the appointment carries with it liability to transfer
to any post of equivalent status in the West Indies.
2. Qualifications: Applicants must possess
at least the Intermediate Certificate of the Royal
Institute of Surveyors or its equivalent. Pre-
ference will be given to those with experience in
land settlement work.
3. Salary: The salary is at the rate of
$5,184.00 per annum in the scale $5,184 x 144-
$6,048.00. No cost of living allowance is payable.
4. Allowances : A transport allowance is pay-
able in accordance with local regulations.
5. Quarters : Quarters are not provided.
6. Passages: Free passages will be provided
for the officer, his wife and children on first appoint-
ment, not exceeding five persons in all. Passages
on leave are provided in accordance with the Wind-
ward Islands leave passage provisions.
7. Duties: The officer will be required to
carry out such duties as may be directed from time
to time. He may undertake private work whilst
he is on vacation leave or with the permission of
the Administrator in each individual case on
Saturday afternoons, Sundays and Bank holidays.
This concession is temporary and may be with-
drawn should circumstances render desirable such
a course.
8. Medical Attendance: Free medical atten-
dance and medicines are not provided.
9. General: The officer will be subject to
Colonial Regulations and local General Orders
and subsidiary legislation in force for the time be-
ing in so far as they are applicable. The officer
will also be liable to all taxation imposed by local
enactments.
Applications should be addressed to the Chief
Secretary, Administrator's Office, Dominica and
should reach that Office not later than the 15th
November, 1960.
