NOTICE

f'IHE attention of importers is once again drawn
S to the provisions of Section 15 (1) of Sehedule
2 to the Animals (Diseases and Importation)
Ordinance No. 9 of 1953, (as amended) which
reads as follows:-
No fresh carcass, whether frozen or chilled,
nor any cured, or pickled carcass, of any cattle, pig,
sheep or goat, or any portion of any such carcass,
shall be imported into the Colony except such
carcass or portion thereof is imported :-
(a) Directly from any of the following countries:
Scotland, Northern Ireland, Eire, Canada,
New Zealand, Australia, United States of
America; and
(b) in accordance with the terms of a per.nit
granted by the Director of Agriculture.


2. The permit required under (b) above must be
obtained before the order is placed with the ex-
porters. Failure to comply with this requirement
will render the importer liable to the penalty pro-
vided under the Ordinance.

Post Of Clerical And Workshop Assistant,
Department Of Forestry And Lands

PPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Clerical and Workshop Assistant at the Tim-
ber Impregnation Plant, Queen's Park in the
Department of Forestry and Lands.
Appointment: The post which is non-pension-
able and is subject to medical fitness, carries a flat
salary at the rate of $1,080 per annum. No quar-
ters are provided.
Qualifications : Applicants should have a good
knowledge of workshop practices and be able to
operate and maintain Woodworkshop Machines.
They must also be capable of supervising labour and
should have reache.i at least the 7th Standard in a
primary school.

Vacancies For School Inspectors,
Board of Education

PPLICATIONS are invited for iwo po-ts of
school inspector in the Bahamas, (a) for
English and (b) for Physical Education. Persons
selected, who will he appointed in the grade of
Supervisory Head Teacher, will be required to carry
out inspections in New Providence and the out
islands, and will be baded in Nassau, New
Providence.
Qualifications required :-
Post (a): University Degree in English
Teachers' Certificate or Diploma of a recog-
nised Teachers' Training College; experience
in primary school teaching.
Post (b) : Teachers' Certificate in Physical
Education, or Diploma in Physical Edu-
cation of a recognized Teachers' Training
College ; experience in 10 primary school
teaching.
Terms of Employment: Three-year contract;
free passage (cabin) to Bahamas on appointment,


and return at end of contract; salary scale 1,40Cx.
50 to 1,650, according to experience, plus
temporary allowance of 2A%; rent allowance of
difference between 15% of salary and rent paid, up
to a maximum of 600 per annum.

ST. GEORGE'S DISTRICT BOARD

Traffic In Market Place

A portion of the St. George's Market not required
at the moment for marketing transactions is
available for use by public passenger vehicles on
the following conditions :
1. Two sections have been set aside for parking:
and those only are to be used fur than purpose..
One section has been reserved for buses and the
other for taxi-cals.
2. Both sections have been divided into indivi-
dual lots, numbered, and available for rental at the
rate of $3.00 per month for buses and $2.00 per
month for taxis, payable in advance.
3. No vehicle wi!l bh allowed to stan- in the
roadways.
4. The flow and direction of traffic shall be in
accordance with the Traffic Signs posted at the.
points of connection wi'h the mai streets.
5. As from October 1st 1960, vehicles which
have not rented lots will not be permitted to park
in the market place.

BY Order made the 21st March, 1959 there will be
offered for sale at the Registrar's Office, at
St, George's on Friday the 14th day of October,
1960, at 12 CO o'clock noon, all the right title and
interest of the above-named defendant in :
ALL THAT estate called Palmiste containing
four hundred and sixty acres, approximately situate
in St. John's, bounded as described in the Indenture,
dated on or about 17th April, ;926, made between
MARY ANN MC PHAIL and Others and RuGGLES
Low FERGUSON, recorded in the Deeds and Lind
Registry of Grenada, in Liber 18 page 814 SAVE
AND EXCEPT the premises known as The
Palmiste Beach Club.
The interest of the Defendant in the said estate is
believed to be:-
1. An undivided quarter in fee simple in possess-
ion subject to an executory devise over in favour of
DONALD FERGUSON and CLAYTON FERGUSON in
the event of the death of the Defendant without
having:had issue who shall have attained the age
of twenty-one years.
2. Another undivided quarter in fee simple in
possession (formerly the property of MONICA
BLACKBURN) subject to an excutory devise over
in favour of the said DONALD FERGUSON and
CLAYTON FERGUSON in the event of the said
MONICA BLACKBURN dying without having had
issue who shall have attained the age of twenty-one
years.
3. A contingent interest in another quarter in
the event of the said DONALD FERGUSON dying
without having had issue who shall have attained
the a ,e of twenty-one years.
4. A contingent interest in another quarter in
the event of the said CLAYTON FERGUSON dying
without having had issue who shall have attained
the age of twdnty-one years which above interest
are subject :-
(i) As to the Defendant's two undivided quarter
shares to a mortgage date 1 8th July, 1955 made
between the Defendant MONICA BLACKBURN and
CREYMON PARYAG and the Incorporated Trustees
of the Church of England and recorded in the
Deeds and Lind Registry of Grenada in Liber R 9
page 466 upon which $14,400.00 with interest
thereon from 9th April, 1958 at the rate of $7.00
per centum per annum is owing.
(ii) As to the Defendant's original quarter share
to a mortgage dated 8th September, 1958 made
between the Defendant and CLAYTON FERGUSON
aforesaid and recorded in the Deeds and Land
Registry in Liber V 9 page 706 upon which
$3,360.00 with interest thereon from 9th Septem-
ber, 1955 at the rate of $7.00 per centum per
annum is owing.


(iii) A charge in favour of the Gavernment of
Grenada upon the Defendant's interest and interest
of the said CLAYTON FERGUSON for $48,288.14
under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Ordinance.
The above is being sold free from Judgments
against the said Defendant as far as known.
The sale is subject to the usual conditions of sale,
a copy of which can be seen at the Registrar's
Office and to the REDUCED RESERVED PRICE
of $20, 920.72.

Vacant Post of Agricultural Officer
(Livestock) Department of Agriculture,
(St. Vincent).



APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably quali-
fled candidates for appointment to tha post
of Agricultural Officer (Livestock), Department of
Agriculture, St. Vincent, particulars of which are
as follows :
Appointment: The post is non-pensionable
and appoint; ment will be on a contractual basis, or
on secondment for a period of 3- years in ihe first
instance. The pension rights of any pensionable
seconded officer will be preserved.
Duties : The duties of the officer will be
those assigned to him by tl;e Superintendent of
Agriculture to whom he will be directly responsible.
They will include management and supervision of
all stud centres, general extension (advisory) work ;
advice or establishment, management and main-
tenance of pangola grass and arranging distribution
of free planting material; de nonstrations in worm-
ing, encouraging better nutrition, better housing
and better handling; encouraging and performing
castration of undesirable types of scrub" ani-
mals; investigations into carrying capacity and
fertilizer requirements of pangcla grass under local
conditions; to assist the Veterinary Officer with
the organization and conduct of vaccination and
quarantine measures.
Qualifications: Candidates in possession of
the Diploma of the Imperial College of Tropical
Agriculture will be preferred, but consideration will
he given also to applicants with wide experience in
animal husbandry, crop husbandry and general
extension (advisory) work and who have also had
former agricultural training in a recognized school
of agriculture in or out of the region.
Salary : The salary is in the scale of
$3,360 x $120-$3,720 plus a 20% cost of living
allowance.
Allowances: Travelling and Subsistence
Allowances are payable in accordance with local
regulations in respect of approved travel on duty.
Quarters: Quarters are not provided.
Passages: Free passages to St. Vincent will
be provided on first appointment for the officer,
his wife and children, not exceeding five persons

in all; children to be under 18 years of age, un-
marriel and dependent on the officer. In the
case of a contract appointment, free passages
will be provided on the satisfactory termination

Medical Attention : Free medical attention
and medicine are not provided.
Taxation: All Government Officials are liable
to taxation imposed by local enactments.
General : The officer will be subject to
Colonial Regulations, local General Orders and
Financial and Store Rules and to the relevant
ordinances and subsidiary legislation in force in
the territory.

NOTICE

Vacancy for Plant Pathologist, Government
of Trinidad and Tobago

PPLICATIONS are invited for a vacant post of
Plant Pathologist (pensionable or on contract
for(3) three years) in the Government Service of
Trinidad and Tobago, with salary in the scale
$4,800-240-$8,160 per annum. The commenc-
ing salary will be determined by the candidate's
experience and qualifications.
2. The appointment is subject to medical fitness,
and in the case of the pensionable post will be on
probation foartwo (2) years.
3. Candidates must be in possession of an
Honours Degree in Botany with Microbiology as a
major subject, or equivalent academic qualifications,
which will enable the oflicer to pursue diagnosis and
investigations of plant diseases. The candidate
should also have a knowledge of general agriculture
in the tropics.
4 .The duties of the post are to carry out
diagnosis, experiments and investigations in con-
nection with plant diseases and to advise on control
measures. The duties also include the supervision
of plant quarantine work including inspection,
treatment and certification of imported plans and
of plants for export and such other duties as the
Technical Officer (Research) may Irom time to time
direct.

with physical education and an interest in extra-
curricular activities will be regarded as advantages.
2. Appointments may be on probation to the
permanent pensionable service or on contract
Free passages to the Colony will be provided on
first appointment. Leave will be in accordance
with General Orders for the Colony.
3. The salary at present being offered for gradu-
ates of a British University is in the scale of
$2,750.40x129.60-2,880 x 144-3,456x144-4,032,
commencing at a point in the scale commensurate
with qualifications and experience. In the case of
contract appointments a re-settlement allowance at
the rate of 12' per cent of salary is offered on
satisfactory completion of contract. Salary scales
are now under review.
4. Applications together with copies of at least
two recent testimonials, names of referees and a
photograph should be addressed to the Administra-
tor, (St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla), St. Kitts.
