Foreign Compensation-
Czechoslovakia

AN Order-in-Council entitled The Foreign Com-
sensation (Czechoslovakia) (Registration)
Order, 1960, was made on 11th May, 1960, and
came into operation on 18th May, 1960.
This Order enables certain claims relating to debts
owed by the Czechoslovak Government or by resi-
dents in Czechoslovakia to British Nationals on 1st
November, 1945, or relating to property in Czecho-
slovakia owned by British Nationals on that date
to be registered with, and reported upon, by the
Foreign Compensation Commission.
A copy of the Order may be seen at this Office
on request by any interested person.

THE WEST INDIES

Vacancy for Meteorological Assistant,
Grade II.

APPLICATIONS are invited for a post of Mete-
orological Assistant Grade II in the W.I.
Meteorological Service.
Qualifications : Candidates should posses the
'School Certificate Grade I cr its equivalent with
,passes in mathematics and/or physics. Candidates
'with a lower grade of certificate may be considered
provided that they received at least credits in
mathematics or physics.
Salary: The present salary of the post is
$960x60-1,200-2,520 per annum but this is
under review. In present circumstances the com-
mencing salary to be offered (within the authorised
salary scale) will be determined in the light of the
candidates' academic qualifications (Higher Schools
Certificate, etc.) and/or practical experience.
Duties : The successful candidate will be re-
.quired to carry out such meteorological and other
duties as may be assigned t0 him at any time of
the day or night and on any day of the year,
including Sundays and Public Holidays. He will
ibe stationed for an indefinite period at Pearls
Airfield but it cannot be guaranteed that, should
the exigencies of the Service so require, he will not
be transferred to another territory within a salary
scale somewhat different from the above. Duties
will usually cover about 40 hours per week and
.may be on a shift basis.
General: Tie po-t i permanent and pension-
able, but an appointment may be made on
temporary terms in the first instance. The appoint-
ment will ba subject to Federal Government
regulations and conditions of service.

details of qualifications and experience should be
sent to the Administrator's Office not later than
the h5th of Awjgust, 1960.


GOVERNMENT T NOTICE

Post of Administrative Assistant, Barbados

APPLICATIONS are invited for appointment to
any vacancies that may occur in rislpect of
the above mentioned post.
Qualifications: Candidates lhonulli preferably
be between the ages of 21 and 28 years a' the d:1te
of application and should possess a recognise i t nri-
versity Degree, preferably with honours.
Duties : The successful candidate will be re-
quired to assist in the performance of dutieA of an
administrative nature and will be liable to transfer
between the Ministries and Secretariat in order to
gain experience.
Appointment and Salary : Appointment will
be iulject to medical fitness and a proba ionary
period of two years. The post is pensionable with
salary in the scale -:;,:-: ~144-$4,392 plus a
temporary Cost of Living Allowance of $108 per
annum. Commencing salary will be determined in
the light of the successful candidate's qualifications


and experience. Salary is subject to deductionl of
4% per annum under the Widows and Orphans'
Pension Scheme, in the case of male officers.
Passages : The successful candidate will be
eligible for the cost of passages for himself and
family from the place of recruitment up to a limit
of $1,920.
Leave and Leave Passages: Vacation leave
is granted at the rate of 45 days a year, accumulative
up to 180 days. In addition casual leave and sick
1 leave are granted in accordance with the Barbados
Leave Regulations, 1952. On completion of a tour
of service of three and a half years the officer is
eligible for leave passages for himself and, if married
for his wife. A pro rata passage allowance is payable
on completion of not less than two years of tour.

experience, and accompanied by two recent testi-
monials, should be addressed to the Chief Secretary,
Government Headquarters, Bay Street, St. Michael,
to reach him not later 31st August, 1960.

PARTICULARS OF VACANT POST OF DISTRICT
MEDICAL OFFICER, ST. LUCIA THE WEST
INDIES.


APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably
l qualified Medical Officers for appointment to
the vacant post of District Medical Officer,
St. Lucia. Candidates should possess qualifications
regi-tralle in the United Kingdom.
1. Appointment: The post is pensionable and
is subject to two years' probation in the firat
instance, but if desired, the appointment may be
on a temporary contractual basis for a period of
three years in the first instance. It will be sub-
ject to Colonial Kegulations and to local General
Orders in force for the time being in so far as they
are applicable.
2. Salary : The Salary is in the scale $?,840 x
S120- 4,800 (LSO0x 23 1,000) per annum,
plus 20 per cent pensionable pay addition.
3. Quarters: Unfurnished Government quar-
ters wiil be provided, if available, at a rental of 10
per cent of the capital value, whichever is the less,
subject to a maximum rental a' $720 per annum.
4. Leave and Leave Passages: Vacation
leave on full salarywill be granted as follows :-
(a) In the cas'" f a p nermane:jt app intent,

service.
(b) In the cise of a contract appointment, at
the rate of one week for each c mpleted
period of 3 months' resident service,

Leave passages will be provided in
accordance with local regulations.

perform the usual duties of a District Medical

Officer and will be liable for service in any Institu-
tion or District in the Colony.
6. Private Practice : Private practice will be
permitted.
7. Passages : Free passages to St. Lucia will
'be provided for the officer, his wife and children,
not exceeding 5 persons in all on first appointment.
In the case of an officer appointed on contract, free
return passages wilt be provided on the satisfactory
completion of the period of the officer's engagement.
Children must be under 18 years of age and
dependent on the officer.
8. Medical Attendance : Free medical attend-
ance and medicines are not provided.
9. General: Government officers are liable to
taxation imposed by local legislation.


VACANCY NOTICE

APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
Director of Agriculture in Antigua.
Appointment. The post is pensionable and is
subject to a probationary period, medical fitness
and to Colonial Regulations and to the local
General Orders in force for the time being.
Salary. Salary is at the rate of $7,680 per
annum.
Qualifications required. A degree in Agriculture.
The Candidate should possess administrative ability
and drive.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF THE WEST INDIES


PPLICATIONS are invited for (a) Lectureship
or (b) Assistant Lectureship in Botany. Pre-
ferance will be given to candidates with special
knowledge and research experience in C tology or
Genetics. Salary scales (unner review): (a)
1,150x50-1,450x75-1,900 p.a. (b) 9.;0x50-
1,050 p.a. Entry point determined by qualifications

Y ORDER of the 16th May, 1960, there will be
offered for sale at this Office on Friday the
2nd day of September, 1960, at 12 o'clock noon all
the right title and interest of the defendant of and
in all that lot piece or parcel of land situate in
Victoria, St. Mark's, Grenada, containing by
estimation 946 square feet and abutted and bounded
on one side by lands of RENNIE JOHN on a second
side by lands of the Roman Catholic Church
and of LULA MOSES, on a third side by Isnds of
F. N. BONAPARTE and on the remaining side by
lands of the said RENNIE JOHN and the said F. N.
IBONAPARTE or however otherwise the same may
be abutted known or described.
The interest of the defendant is believed to be
an estate in tee simple and is being sold free from
all judgments against the judgment debtor, so far
as they are known.
The sale is subject to the usual conditions cf sale,
a copy of which may be seen at this office and to
the RESERVE PRICE OF $189.20.

and Leeward Islands at Grenadi, in its Criminal
Jurisdiction, will be held at the Court; louse in
the town of St. George on Tuesday, the 4th day of
October, 1960, at 9.30 o'clock in the fcrenoon when
and where all concerned and hound over to prose-
cute or to live evidence or summoned as Jurors or
witn-sses are required to giv their personal
attendance, and all officers who have taken in-
quisitions, depositions, examinations, Recog-
nizances or other papers cognizable by the Court
are required to return the same without delay to
this oilice.
