Vacant Post of Workshop Superin-
tendent (Joinery), Public Works
Department, Grenada.

APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of
SWorkshop Superintendent (Joinery) in the
Public Works Department, Grenada.
The post is non pensionable and carries a salary
of $1,065.60 x $57.60-$1,238.40 per annum.
Appointment is subject to medical fitness and a
probationary period of two years.

ten years' experience in joinery, with special know-
ledge and experience in the u-e of local timber.

THE WEST INDIES

Vacancy for Meteorological Assistant,
Grade II.

APPLICATIONS are invited for a post of Mete-
orological Assistant Grade II in the W.I.
Meteorological Service.
Qualifications : Candidates should posses the
School Certificate Grade I or its equivalent with
passes in mathematics and/or physics. Candidates
with a lower grade of certificate may be considered
provided that they received at least credits in
mathematics or physics.
Salary : The present salary of the post is
$960x60-1,200-2,520 per annum but this is
under review. In present circumstances the com-
mencing salary to be offered (within the authorized
salary scale) will be determined in the light of the
candidates' academic qualifications (Higher Schools
Certificate, etc.) and/or practical experience.
Duties : The successful candidate will be re-
quired to carry out such meteorological and other
duties.as may be assigned to him. at any time of
the day or night and on any day of the year,
including Sunday's and Public Holidays. He will
bs stationed for an indefinite period at Pearls

the light of the successful candidate's qualifications
and experience. Salary is subject to deduction of
4% per annum under the Widows and Orphans'
Pension Scheme, in the case of male officers.
Passages : The successful candidate will be
eligible for the cost of passages for himself and
family from the place of recruitment up to a limit
of $1,920.
Leave and Leave Passages : Vacation leave
is granted at the rate of 45 days a year, accumulative
up to 180 days. In addition casual leave and sick
leave are granted in accordance with the Barbados
Leave Regulations, 1952. On completion of a tour
of service of three and a half years the officer is
eligible for leave passages for himself and, if married
for his wife. A pro rata passage allowance is payable
on completion of not less than two years of tour.

qualified Medical Officers for appointment to
the vacant post of District Medical Officer,
St. Lucia. Candidates should possess qualifications
registrable in the United Kingdom.
1. Appointment: The post is pensionable and
is subject to two years' probation in the firat
instance, but if desired, the appointment may be
on a temporary contractual basis for a period of
three years in the first instance. It will be sub-
ject to Colonial Kegulations and to local General
Orders in force for the time being in so far as they
are applicable.
2. Salary: The Salary is in the scale $1,840 x

1. Appointment: The appointment is on con-
tract for a period of one year or more.
